Post op for my fur baby...

If your pet needs a life saving emergency surgery, please don't go anywhere else. From the staff, communication , Dr. costs, this place was nothing short of AMAZING !!! My Gracie, swallowed some sort of seed while I was on vacation and my parents were doggy sitting. Her spirit started to decline and I originally took her VCA in Rancho Cordova. I have pet insurance for her, but that place was truly extorting money for services. They even suggested to euthanizing her (Absolutely Not !) I ended up taking her home to figure things out. I called around and someone suggested surgery center in Placerville . The staff was so helpful, and communicative about the documents for their diagnosis and to see if the surgery was something they could do. I immediately sent all of her paperwork and they were able to squeeze her in the next day. OMG, I wanted to cry ! I am so happy I had her surgery completed here. It was very fast I took her home the same day. The consult was $20 and I paid for surgery costs separately , all medication was $20 , but had to pay another $20 for the antibiotics, (which was not a big deal.) They are only open every other Tuesday and Wed-Fri , so call them if you know your pet is having some kind of emergency that requires surgery.

Final photo taken at home before his surgery. He was always a happy dog. There wasn't a mean bone in his body.

It's been just a little over 5 mths. since my daughter's sweet boy went to the rainbow bridge. He is so so missed everyday. They need overnight care for animals who have major surgeries incase they should be watched carefully so no one else experience the kind of loss that we did on August 29th, 2024. One hour after we got our precious dog home in past hour on the livingroom floor and we did CPR on him as well. Our precious dog had a leg amputation surgery due to bone cancer. My family and I are still going through so much heartache and dealing with the loss day by day.

Dr. Raymond has saved my cat's life twice now…read more Last summer, her original vet told me to put her down. Instead, I got a second opinion from Dr. Raymond, and he saved her life. When I was calling animal hospitals back then, I was being quoted close to $2,000 a day just for hospitalization, not including treatment. Finding Dr. Raymond was honestly a blessing. Recently, I thought my cat was bloated, so I took her to her old vet because it was closer (by 3 hours). They did bloodwork and X-rays, then basically told me they didn't know what was wrong but that the prognosis was bad. The next day, I took her to Dr. Raymond and showed him the bloodwork and X-rays. He took one look and immediately knew it was pyometra and that she needed emergency surgery. No guessing. No waiting around. He knew exactly what was wrong. What really blows my mind is that I spent less on her emergency surgery with Dr. Raymond than I spent at the first vet, who couldn't even diagnose her. They even charged me for a radiologist to review her X-rays and then didn't call me back for 10 days. Ten days. Had I not taken her to Dr. Raymond, she could have died overnight. Getting that call 10 days later was infuriating. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if I didn't know Dr. Raymond. He is incredibly knowledgeable, straightforward, and genuinely caring. When other vets have missed the mark completely, he has gotten it right. Twice. I trust Dr. Raymond with my cat's life because, quite literally, he has already saved it twice. And somehow he's managed to do it without bankrupting me in the process, which feels increasingly rare in veterinary medicine these days.

Unfortunately, the quality of care he provides is overshadowed by an extremely rude and unprofessional front office staff. For about a month we left messages roughly once a week regarding scheduling our Golden Retriever for a spay procedure and never received a call back. Eventually we were told Dr. Khurmi had been on vacation, and suddenly we were able to schedule the surgery. It would have been helpful if that had been communicated earlier, but at that point we were simply happy to finally get the appointment. We chose the laparoscopic option because we had read it could be less traumatic and allow for an easier recovery. We were given a price range, and when we dropped our dog off we paid $1,783.94, which was the lower end of the estimate. When we picked her up, we were told we owed an additional $116.06. The amount itself was no big deal to us. We had already agreed to a cost range and were fully prepared to pay within that range. Out of simple curiosity, we asked what caused the final cost to land at the higher end. The vet tech immediately became defensive and spoke to us in a condescending tone in front of other clients, repeatedly stating that we had agreed to a range rather than simply explaining the difference. We never received a clear answer. While waiting, there were also other clients ahead of us who appeared surprised by additional charges at checkout, so it did not seem like an isolated situation. The discharge process was also rushed. The vet tech briefly went over the medication but did not clearly review the rest of the post-operative instructions before sending us home with a printed sheet. Nearly two weeks later the stitches are still clearly visible, so we called the office today to confirm whether they were dissolvable or needed to be removed. I had made a mental note that the instructions mentioned something about sutures being removed around 14 days, as we are approaching that timeframe and I wanted to get them taken out. When I explained that this had not been discussed with us, the staff member responded in a very abrasive tone, repeatedly insisting that we had been sent home with an instruction sheet rather than simply addressing the question. After requesting the clinical summary earlier to understand the final invoice, I reviewed it again and it actually states "sutures out in 14 days," which contradicts what we were told on the phone today. As a client and not a veterinarian, I should not have to interpret clinical notes to understand basic post-operative instructions. Clear and consistent guidance is important when you are caring for a pet recovering from surgery. I have since emailed the clinic asking for clarification and am still waiting for confirmation on whether the sutures are dissolvable or need to be removed. Based on our experience, the front office staff and vet techs could benefit from additional training in client communication and customer service. Pet owners should feel comfortable asking questions without being spoken to in a defensive or dismissive tone. After reviewing other client feedback and the responses from this business, there appears to be a pattern of defensiveness rather than accountability. Hopefully this situation will be handled differently, but based on those responses I would not be surprised if the reply focuses on defending the clinic rather than addressing the concerns raised. When you trust someone with your pet's surgery, professionalism and clear communication should be the standard, not something clients have to fight for.

I was hesitant to call Dr Clark because she only had one review here, so after my positive…read moreexperience with her, under the most terrible conditions ever, I thought it was only fair to add another review to her profile. A few days ago, my nearly 20 year old cat, who had been my child since he was a tiny kitten, hit rock bottom in his long battle with kidney failure. I knew that if I didn't make the choice that nearly all furrchild parents dread, euthanasia, that very soon pain and misery would follow, and that opinion was far worse than the other. I couldn't bear my baby to suffer any more than he already was. But, he had always been scared of the car and hated the vet. He cried the entire time in the car every time and even tried to hide under the towel in his carrier. So, I didn't want the final hour of his life to be spent scared and stressed. I had heard of in-home euthanasia on a random website about feline kidney failure and I knew that if it was possible (meaning in my area and not cost prohibitive) that would be ideal. If my baby was not going to pass away gently at home naturally, it could at least still happen at home, on his favorite spot in our bed, with my husband and I cuddling him. I called Dr Clark when I knew without a doubt that if something was not done soon, he would begin to suffer. We had a lovely conversation where she made me feel quite comfortable and she scheduled the dreaded appt for later that same day. As the day went on, kitty continued to get worse and worse. I began to worry that something bad might happen even before our appt, so I called her back and explained my fears, and she worked it out so that she could get to us even sooner. I'll spare the details, but having Dr Clark perform in-home euthanasia, rather than dragging my poor sick boy to the vet, was probably the best decision I ever made. It was the most caring decision I could have made for him. He was not stressed out at all. He was peaceful and relaxed. He was the him that I knew. We were able to share quality time right up to the second he passed away, which I know would have never happened in a vet situation, because he would have been too freaked out to just be his sweet loving self. It all happened so peacefully that I couldn't even believe it really happened. I couldn't believe it could be that gentle. He just drifted off to sleep like any other time, in the same spot he always slept. Dr Clark's bedside manner was lovely. She took time to get to know my baby and even kissed his head. He seemed completely at ease with her. Dr Clark gave my husband and I plenty of time to cuddle him before the single shot (which he didn't even seem to feel). I didn't feel rushed at all. I never felt like it was a service and it felt very personal. Even the way she spoke and her presence was soothing. The decision to put a beloved furrchild to sleep is an awful decision to have to consider, but I strongly believe that in-home euthanasia makes it less awful, and much kinder and less traumatic for our furrkid's and us. And, it's NOT cost prohibitive. Not at all. I found another website that offered in-home services that seemed much more about the money, and it turned me off right away. Dr. Clark was not at all like that and I found her price to be quite reasonable and I found her to be an angel. If you have to make this terrible choice, I very strongly recommend her. And, if she is not available in your area, I still strongly recommend in-home care. I only wish my other kitty who passed away two years ago would have been able to pass so gently.

Last year I…read moretried one for my dog's annual exam, and today I tried the other, Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic. I also specifically wanted to try a male vet, as my previous vet in Southern CA was also male (and adored). So, I brought my beloved senior gal (dog) to Dr. Johnson. I was extremely impressed with the facility- ample parking, clean and spacious waiting area, nice decor, complimentary coffee (Keurig), and well-equipped. They are also well-staffed here. Our appointment went very well, Dr. Johnson did a nice job with the exam and discussing my concerns with me (recommended vaccines for the area, skin tags, etc). I especially like a vet who will sit on the floor with my dog and I. It is that type of bedside manner that I look for and appreciate in a vet. Since they have an in-house lab, I was called by the Doctor himself with the blood and heartworm results within 3 hours of my appointment - IMPRESSIVE! I was also impressed with the fact that I could pay in the exam room before I left - a convenience I have never experienced before! The exam cost was comparable to other vets in the area, the blood panel was quite a bit more than what I paid last year at the other local vet. I also appreciate that Dr. Johnson is not the type to push services, but does a nice job at communicating his professional opinion and backs it up with experience. The demeanor of the front desk staff is also very important to me and a point of dissatisfaction with that other vet's office. The gals at Pleasant Valley were friendly and welcoming. Tylene especially went above and beyond to answer some questions I had via email prior to my appointment. She was helpful, thorough and prompt in her responses. The only drawback I find in this area in general, is the lack of a holistic-minded vet. I am extremely particular about my dog's care and wellness, and do my best to research all issues and make the most informed and healthiest decisions I can in order to extend her quality of life. On our way out, my dog enjoyed sniffing and marking in the designated area off of the parking lot, which I thought was a great perk! Neither of my previous vets had this, and I know my gal enjoyed the "pee mail". All in all, I would highly recommend this clinic. The fact that they have several doctors increases your chances of being seen quickly in case of an urgent matter, and the in house lab provides faster results. It is a very nice establishment for this area, has current technology in place, attentive staff and is very clean and well-kept. I was pleased!
