So if I hadn't done a bit of research and reading of reviews to see that these burgers were really good I may have turned around and left right after entering. The place is dirty and run down. Not a single customer there yet not a clean table either. It smelled of rancid, old oil. Bad! But since there were so many excellent reviews we proceeded to order. And I'm glad we did. Even though the oil smelled horrible the fries didn't taste like it. They were really good. And the burgers were some of the best we have had. A bit overdone with black char but with all the saucy goodness it wasn't much of an issue. The fry sauce is definitely the very best sauce I've ever tasted. I just wish the dining area wasn't so gross and they definitely need a better ventilation system. We smelled like gross oil when we left and I needed to shower when we got home. If not for the awful smell and uncleanliness, and rundown dining area I'd have given five stars. read more

As someone with celiac disease, it is super hard to find restaurants that take gluten allergies seriously, but Murph's Butterguts is so good about it. They have a really nice gluten free process they try to follow when making your meal, and they try their hardest not to cross contaminate any of the food. This brand, spanking new dine-in establishment has some of the most juiciest and flavorful hamburgers in Sioux Falls! Their signature Bacon Jam compliments every bite you take! They have a limited menu that yields HIGH QUALITY food. I had the Famous Murph Burger on a Gluten Free bun with fries, and oooh man, what a savory delight. I scarfed that mouthwatering burger down, and I was left with a sticky chin and fingers from all that delicious homemade bacon jam. The fries were nicely salted and had a great crunch to them. To boot, everything (except the buns) are made in house! They have an open and bright dinning area with plentiful seating. If you you have any complaints (I seriously doubt it), just head over to HR, the big yellow rubber ducky is all ears. They have several rubber duckies placed in their restaurant that add a fun, cute charm to the environment. The staff was helpful and great conversationalists. They are very passionate about making hamburgers for the community and plan on extending the menu in the future. I can't wait to see what the add on next! From the moment that you walk in, you're greeted by the most personable woman who shares more about what all that have to offer, the ingredients and how the burgers are made. Yes I would have to agree with all of the comments that have been made regarding this gem in Sioux Falls! Disappointing that the one review had a negative experience, but that certainly is not a reflection of the food and service overall. We had the Murph burger and the Murphette Burger what it treat certainly lived up to the hype, dining experience is clean and quiet. Sometimes you have to appreciate the places that have an element of simplicity to them. This place was in my radar because I like Kathmandu a lot, which is located right next to it. Finally went in to check it out, and I was greeted by the eponymous Murph's mother, who gave me a brief rundown of the menu. She was very polite and is a great ambassador for the family business. There are just a a few options for burgers and other sandwiches, but I was steered toward the Murph Burger as a first-timer. The food came out quickly, and the atmosphere is nice. I really like the shade of green they chose for the walls. The burger itself is on the medium well side, with finely shredded lettuce, bacon jam, and a burger sauce that tastes like some variety of aioli. The fries are thicker cut, nice and crispy, with a side of the burger sauce. The star of the show is the bacon jam, which apparently takes 9 days to make and involves a smoker. It was nice blend of sweet and savory. The burger is definitely on the sweeter side because of it, and I regret not getting one with some jalapeños on it to cut the sweetness a little bit. Overall, definitely a place worth revisiting. Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for burgers. read more

Was put off by the head guy on the shift dropping f bombs left and right. A cap that came off the mayo saying the thing that pisses him off the most and they can't do anything right also throwing the cap from the cook line to the back of house. Loud enough to be heard by all customers. read more

We randomly had the Murph Burger during the burger battle and were blown away so when we heard he was opening his own place we were PUMPED! Hubby stopped at the shiny new restaurant last night and picked up 2 Murph Burgers with fries. He said the service was friendly and the place was packed, but he still got our order quickly. I think it was even tastier than I remember! A salty and sweet burger ( BACON JAM!?), dripping with goodness, soft bun. The fries are delectable, and the dipping sauce that comes with them is dreamy. This is a phenomenal addition to the east side of town. We will be regulars! read more
