You can tour the US with safety by keeping your distance and never having to roll the dice when choosing a motel/hotel as to its cleanliness and sanitation practices. This week we took a week-long trip only 3 hours from our home. We chose Valley RIver Resort based upon the website and Yelp reviews. Nestled in the southeastern foothills of the Smoky Mountains, it promised to be the perfect getaway location. The drive was absolutely gorgeous with the trees starting to change into their resplendent colors of fall. When we arrived, we checked in and were greeted by Beau, the campground host, who guided us to our assigned space and then guided us into the space. He was such a kind, welcoming and friendly fellow, eager to do anything to make our stay worry free. The pads all are concrete and level - no inclines here. The spaces are wide and easy to back into. There are also pull through sites. All sites have full hookups. Some of the sites back up to a hill and others back up to a small catch and release lake with no fishing license required. The main lodge is beautiful, complete with a fireplace and large TV with comfy seating. The bathhouse, game room, restrooms and pool are together in one building space and they are sparkling clean and look like they are brand new. The pool is outside and at this time of year, the lady who registered us said we were welcome to take a "refreshing" (quite chilly) dip. The resort also provides fire wood and portable fire pits for a reasonable fee. We ordered from the office and Beau was again jiffy on the spot to fulfill our requests. He delivered the fire pit to our site, set it up and then unloaded our wood and neatly stacked it for us. What service!!! If you want to roll the dice, try your luck with a one armed bandit, roulette or card games, a Harrah's Casino and hotel is across the way. Downtown Murphy is only 3 miles away. If you like to antique shop, the downtown area has many to choose from. Murphy is a small town, so most everything closes right at 5pm. So if you're looking for a quiet and sparkling clean place with super accommodating and friendly staff, you should definitely make Your way to Valley River RV Resort.

Very kid and dog friendly! The bathhouse is brand new, so lovely, and is the cleanest bathhouse I've ever been in at an RV park. The owners are some of the kindest people we've met in NC, super accommodating, ensured we liked our spot, and set up a picnic table and fire pit for us to use at the site. Truly the best Campground we've ever stayed at. I highly recommend staying here, whether for a night, a week, or for a long term!!!

Views of beautiful tall trees…read more The sites are very spacious on large gravel surrounded by green grass that run all along the creek where you can dip your feet in, throw in a line, observe the Ducks and Blue Heron or just listen to the serene sound of the water. It also is a short drive to many activities should you choose. A short drive to the quaint town of Murphy for vintage shopping, wine tasting, brewery and plenty of places to grab a bite. We highly recommend the fried pickles at Chevelle's! Owners, Jon and Eileen are so welcoming and always available if needed. New bathroom/showers will be finished by Spring 2024. Persimmon Creek campground is a peaceful and beautifully maintained place for families, groups, and solo travelers - with or without pets! There's bamboo fishing poles provided at no charge where you can fish in the central pond - and pull out a fish with virtually every cast! Then there's the stunning creek that borders the entire eastern side of the campground where you can swim or pan for gold - it's amazing! The showers and bathrooms are some of the best we have seen, and the full hookups were reliable. Lots are spacious and feature picnic table and fire ring, with plenty of room for your rig and gear. The best part about this campground is Tony and Karen, the owners. They'll provide you with exactly what you need, including friendly, meaningful conversation. We stayed at this campground for a month and it was always a pleasure interacting with these two. We wanted to stay longer and regret leaving but we're off to explore the rest of the country on our search to buy some land. When I explained who the bones were for, he generously donated a very big box of high-quality bones to assist in our friend's recovery. The broth was the tastiest I've ever made-super velvety and rich. I've never shopped Walnut Hollow but I will be sure to make it a regular habit in the future. Very happy to know that this business and it's kind proprietor are in my community.
