RV and tent camping are perfect choices for wholesome family fun at all times, but especially great during Covid restrictions. You can tour the US with safety by keeping your distance and never having to roll the dice when choosing a motel/hotel as to its cleanliness and sanitation practices. This week we took a week-long trip only 3 hours from our home. We chose Valley RIver Resort based upon the website and Yelp reviews. Nestled in the southeastern foothills of the Smoky Mountains, it promised to be the perfect getaway location. The drive was absolutely gorgeous with the trees starting to change into their resplendent colors of fall. When we arrived, we checked in and were greeted by Beau, the campground host, who guided us to our assigned space and then guided us into the space. He was such a kind, welcoming and friendly fellow, eager to do anything to make our stay worry free. The pads all are concrete and level - no inclines here. The spaces are wide and easy to back into. There are also pull through sites. All sites have full hookups. Some of the sites back up to a hill and others back up to a small catch and release lake with no fishing license required. The main lodge is beautiful, complete with a fireplace and large TV with comfy seating. The bathhouse, game room, restrooms and pool are together in one building space and they are sparkling clean and look like they are brand new. The pool is outside and at this time of year, the lady who registered us said we were welcome to take a "refreshing" (quite chilly) dip. The resort also provides fire wood and portable fire pits for a reasonable fee. We ordered from the office and Beau was again jiffy on the spot to fulfill our requests. He delivered the fire pit to our site, set it up and then unloaded our wood and neatly stacked it for us. What service!!! If you want to roll the dice, try your luck with a one armed bandit, roulette or card games, a Harrah's Casino and hotel is across the way. Downtown Murphy is only 3 miles away. If you like to antique shop, the downtown area has many to choose from. Murphy is a small town, so most everything closes right at 5pm. So if you're looking for a quiet and sparkling clean place with super accommodating and friendly staff, you should definitely make Your way to Valley River RV Resort. read more

this is listed by good sam 10/10/10....... this is one of the biggest disappointments we have run into in our 4 years of full time rving. they list they have a swimming pool and work out room.....the pool is a wading pool and you cannot swim in it......the work out room consists basically of an old treadmill that one of the workers told me has been broken for over a year and never repaired........we had planned on staying all summer until the end of october when things went from bad to worse........our site had a rats nest about six foot away from our front door.......we took videos to show the so called manager cody of the problem......we had videos of rats coming out of the nest and getting up into the motorhome next to us......he said they've never had a rat problem and i insisted he call an exterminator. a couple days later one showed up and said there are rats all over the area........which i confirmed with my videos.......this while the manager was standing there with us who had said there were no rats. the manager told me if i wanted to get rid of the rats i would have to pay the exterminator, that they take no responsibility for them........after which i asked him for the owner of the parks phone number.....which he never gave to me. i told him we were giving notice of leaving and left at the end of the month. good sam needs to review this park.........it is a disaster!!!! they have level sites......and a nice little lake but the park is made up on one end of mostly employees .......the other end people that work in the park ........very clickish............don't make the mistake we did......by pass this park.......you'll be glad you did.......the manager spends most of his time fliting around the park doing basically nothing.........the park is usually less than half full......thumbs down all the way around... read more

If there were negative stars I would have selected it! We visited the RV park driving back to Atlanta from Pigeon Forge (we had friends staying there). We were considering a month long rental and were a little on the fence about staying there due to the reviews and wanted to see it for ourselves. My first impression was "so-so". Because our friends were there we decided to give it a try. My husband went to the office to reserve the space next door to them with plans to bring our camper the next day. When he went to the office he was informed that site next door to them wasn't available (understandable) however another space nearby was (we couldn't see that site from their camper). He paid for the site. We went directly to the site and discovered it was completely surrounded by mud (sparse grass, a huge dirt wall imbankment that was certain to flood the site with more mud and dirt when it rained - no silt fence to stop the mud slide). We went DIRECTLY back to the office in the time it takes to drive to the site and drive directly back to the office. I informed the manager Gene Marie that we couldn't take the site because it it essentially a mud hole and we have a 5/7 year old boys and there's literally no way to keep them out of the mud (they would have been isolated to about 20% of the concrete pad or the street) She informed me we would be charged a 1 week rental for the 5 minute later cancellation (yep you read that correctly). This of course was ridiculous bc we went directly to the site and directly back to the office and informed her we couldn't use it due to the mud conditions. You couldn't access the power/water connections without walking thru mud and mud completely surrounded the concrete pad. We were back in the office within 5-7 minutes tops of making the reservation!! Her only comment was "its not a mud hole" and "I explained the cancellation policy to your husband" WOW talk about a serious deficiency in customer service, professionalism and a lack of understanding consumers rights. Imagine checking into a hotel and walking to the hotel room in finding conditions existed that made it impossible for you to use the room and going back to the office and being told you were going to be charged for it anyway. Fortunately our bank understands consumer rights to actually receive a usable service (which clearly we did not and couldn't use the lot offered). To have our bank solve this when she clearly should have cancelled the transaction is beyond ridiculous. We are talking 5 minutes later and immediately returning to the office after looking at the muddy site. That's not a cancellation policy that's borderline theft and hyjacking a customers credit card. This was not a reservation made and we were just unable to arrive as planned.....(that would have been understandable) This was a walk in the office, reserve a space, go look at it and see it's a mess and we won't put our camper on it scenario bc of the site conditions.... Any reputable business would have apologized and canceled the charges immediately. Instead we were told a one week cancellation fee would be charged (laughable)!! Worth noting is that my credit card was charged $695 (595 + 100) immediately. And while we were back in the office immediately (we didn't even have our camper with us) no refund or adjustment has been applied my Valley River. My bank has instructed me that they will reverse the charges because of course they know it's a joke. What a shame that Bank of America has to fix their incompetence. I am a business owner and employee managers to manage real estate projects. No way would I ever leave this lacking manager in charge of my real estate office. She expressed zero concern, zero professionalism and was defensive about the conditions. Literally her only words were "It's not a mud hole" and "I explained our cancellation policy to your husband". I'm sure the few positive reviews found on this RV Park were solicited (as suggested in one of the actual reviews) Campers are mostly a friendly group of folks that want to enjoy the outdoors and spend time with friends. I consider myself and my family part of that group. I've never witnessed an RV Park, hotel or otherwise quote a cancellation policy instead of immediately canceling a transaction (even apologize) for the situation. I am so thankful we had not hauled our 40' camper the 3 hour drive there before seeing the actual site. The "pond" is a drainage pond causing a huge infestation of gnats and mosquitos (not a pest problem typically associated with the mountains). There is a serious drop off hazard for children and pets. The standing stagnant water and mud are a breeding ground. Be prepared to stay indoors or swallow them by the mouthful. This place is expensive. for the price, they tout themselves as a "resort", it's $400 a week. not so much. there's a pool. THAT's IT. I don't know why they say they have internet. It's HORRIBLE. don't expect to use apple TV. you barely get email. No restaurant. the pond or creek isn't that scenic. only a few pull through sites and you're gonna pay a LOT for those. the weed eater guy sliced our sewer hose. it leaked all over when I drained my tanks. not my problem, but I had to buy A new hose. they don't care. They take advantage of being across from the casino. if you're not a gambling fan you still pay a premium. the park manager female is anti-social. No hello, no Hi. no nothing, you might as well be talking to a rock. we left after 2 weeks. read more

We just spent 5 days 4 nights at Valley River. This is one of the most enjoyable resorts ever and still under construction. The park is very clean and maintained. This was our first trip in our Travel Trailer and as such our review is based on only what we experienced and not compared to any other RV Resort. Our Stay was for 4 nights in late June / Early July of 2018 The entire resort is fairly new and as a result that is both good and in some aspects still a "time will tell" situation. First, the Park Manager (Gene-Marie sp?) was about as nice as anyone can be. From making the reservation to greeting us upon arrival. The office itself is large and could be a great gathering place. During our stay both the Park Manager and other employees would see us out and about and confirm everything was going good. Very Friendly Team of people. The Park is still "growing" so a good bit of construction is still taking place In Phase II and a few of the spots in Phase I seem to be getting a do-over for misc reasons. A lot of the grounds are not yet fully established so that will take some time. The roads in the park are wide and access to the back-in spots are easy to get into with a gentle angle of approach. They are pretty diligent about keeping the roads clear so other coming and going have plenty of room to maneuver and that is a good policy in my book. Our site itself was level and clean and all "critical" hookups worked 100% as expected. Cable was a bit hit or miss yet we were told when we checked in that they were aware of an issue or two and working on the problem so kudos for being up front and honest. Our TT is 30' and has two doors. Since we are new at this, we learned if there is a concrete pad, the width of the pad and the location of any extra pad area is a consideration based on where your door / doors are located or plan on traveling with materials to make your own step down area and possibly walking path. The sites do vary some in configuration, so give them a call and see what they may have to possibly best meet your Rigs specific needs....... Had we asked to move, I feel sure they would have worked with us yet we managed just fine. The bath-house itself was nothing sort of immaculate our entire stay as well as the Laundry Facility and inside Dog Wash area. Being new construction and the Team keeping it clean is very evident. As part of being so new and still growing, the bathrooms did not have mirrors yet. Not a major deal and they should be installed soon. Till then we just used our Phones as a Mirror :o) The pool area and fitness room was not open yet, but it was clear they were working hard to try and get them open ASAP. The initial opening and operation of any non-residential pool can be a challenge and we knew in advance it was not going to be ready for our stay. It was very quiet and everyone was a "Good Neighbor" the entire time we were there. There is a 24 Super Walmart 1 mile away so if there is something you forgot or want to wait to stock-up on, no problem,,,,, Also a variety of restaurants in town just a short drive away. Overall our first TT experience was a good one and if we were back in the area would not hesitate to stay at Valley River RV Resort again. Due to the fact the Resort is still a work in progress, we gave it 4 Stars. If they continue to implement the things still to be done as well as they have implemented the items already complete and continue to work on the grounds as the Spring and Fall weather permits, they should soon be getting 5 star ratings with no issues.......... The owner is not a businesswoman & has no business being in business. I pulled in at dusk & grabbed a space. In the morning an employee drove past me yet did not come up to me to collect $. I could've just left, but I stopped by the office to pay. I asked for the owner and she came down from upstairs. When she told me the price, I said that was unreal & I did not want to pay that much. So her next move was to immediately call the police on me. I paid $60 for a $57 site & she still sent the police after me! The park is pretty muddy if it rains. read more

We were looking for a change from our Florida weather & a little R/R the week following Christmas. We are so glad that we chose Valley River RV Resort! The park is conveniently located to many attractions & was the perfect "home base". The park is relatively new with areas still being developed but existing areas area great - level paved lots, laundry facilities, pet wash area, awesome pool (too bad it is December). One of the best things about the park was the welcome that we received from the manager, Jean-Marie & her husband, Billy! We love Valley River RV Resort & will definitely be returning! read more
