I'd read this was a must try in Ireland. well we went and tried it. Cute place. They let you try a sample and it let my hubby pick while i visited the ladies room and we shared a scoop. I like the place and that everything is made local from fresh milk and eggs. But frankly it was just OK. Much prefer our Graeter or Ben and Jerry's or Breyers. The flavor wasn't exceptional and not as creamy or rich ... maybe not as fattening either. Staff were very nice little fellas.
I stopped in here with my partner today as part of our day trip to Dingle. There was a bit of a line but it moved quickly with two employees working. One was scooping and the other was giving out samples. They were both incredibly friendly and quick. I got a small cup with a scoop of sea salt and a scoop of Kieran's cookies. They were both delicious! The sea salt ice cream uses salt harvested directly from the Dingle bay so it's extra fresh and delicious. The ice cream was so creamy and it wasn't too sweet like American ice cream can be. The shop was a little loud but we just took our ice cream outside and wandered around Dingle while we ate it. It was a lovely way to end the trip!
We were outside looking at the board listing all the interesting flavors and a friendly person working there came out to let us know we could get more than one flavor in any size and could try anything we wanted to sample. Sold! I went with the brown bread and chocolate whiskey flavors in a small cone and both were delicious. The brown bread flavor has crunchy bits of brown bread which was a wonderful addition. Others in my group enjoyed the lemon curd, mango, sea salt and smooth chocolate flavors. This is excellent, high quality ice cream that is worth every penny. They make the ice cream right in town and have a video running in the shop showing the production. Maybe someday they'll do tours! I would be into that if they ever decided to offer them. They do have some seating which was nice so we could relax and enjoy our ice cream rather than walk with it. Do not miss this locally made treat if you're in Dingle!
After finding out about Murphy's Ice Cream it was one of the things I anticipated visiting most while in Ireland. Let me tell you, it is an Ireland MUST. The first location we visited was in the Dingle, where Murphy's originates. When we walked in the staff were extremely friendly, and proceeded to offer us some samples so that we could narrow down our flavor choices. I ending up with Dingle Sea Salt and Kieran's Cookies in a cone and my partner did the same. I was skeptical at first about the Dingle Sea Salt flavor but I figured, when in Dingle, you must try it. This was seriously the best ice cream ever! It was so creamy, delicious, and flavorful and I truly think Dingle Sea Salt is the best flavor of ice cream ever. It was so good that we almost went back for seconds before leaving Dingle that same day. The good news is that they have locations elsewhere, in Dublin, Galway, Killarney and a few others. We ended up getting Murphy's again in Galway a few days later despite the cold weather, because it was that good. I love Murphy's Ice Cream!
So I wasn't aware this is popular spot until my friend told me she read about this place - omg the flavors were so good and you're able to try samples which all mine include alcohol. (Don't judge me!) I will stay - the employees were super friendly and even chatted with us then no one was in line. We were lucky because since tourist season was calming down a little - we were able to sit and relax inside with arm room. If I ever come back - yes i'll will be back to try new samples. Wonderful local ice cream spot in Dingle. The brown bread ice cream was tasty - not too sweet but still so rich and creamy. Note the brown bread chunks do add a chewy texture so that may throw folks off. I didn't mind it. The service was quick and friendly and so definitely worth a visit. read more

The best I e cream I have ever had and ice is a good group to our family!! Lol!! So good that I have been back two days in a row cause I wanna try them all out! Love the sea salt and the brown bread on a ton!!! read more
This ice cream is so delicious! We stopped over in Dingle for a few hours after exploring the Dingle Peninsula and starred this place after reading so many reviews on it. Their flavors were unique yet simple. I ended up going with their well known Sea Salt caramel. The ice cream was so creamy and was a great balance between both sweet and salty. Sometimes I don't gravitate to this flavor right away because some places cant get the ratio right for me, but Murphy's somehow has it spot on. Their flavors change by the season and they do also have sorbet flavors that are made with distilled rain water. We found out that they've expanded to other parts of Ireland: Killarney, Dublin, and Galway I believe. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a sweet treat during your Irish adventures! read more

We spent the day on the Dingle peninsula and read great things about this ice cream shop. We stopped we were in Dingle which was a very cute town. Strangely, there are two of the same ice cream shop within a two minute walk of each other on the same street in Dingle. We stopped at the first one and then saw a second one. They were very friendly and let us sample several different flavors before we decided what to get. I decided to get the dreamy creamy caramel which was delicious. My parents loved what they got as well. The one we stopped at was small with no seats, but the one down the street was a bit bigger and had some seating. This is definitely worth stopping for in Dingle! There are also shops in Dublin, Killarney, and Galway. read more

Unlike my first visit to Murphy's in Dublin, I didn't simply stumble across this quaint ice cream shop in Dingle. As Jamie W. and I were strolling the quiet streets after dark, we made a beeline when I recognized the name (photo: http://bit.ly/2gCWecL). I had tried their ice cream four years earlier and really loved the creamy texture and soothing flavor from the first lick. We had just finished a gluttonous seafood dinner down the road at The Boatyard, but something sweet sounded like the right finale to a long day of driving from Kilkenny. Unlike the tiny shop on Wicklow Street in Dublin, there were actual tables and chairs in this shop. That was a good thing since there was little else to do in Dingle at night except get rowdy and drunk at a pub or be a travel wimp and go back to the hotel. Despite the presence of sixteen alluring flavors, I knew exactly what I wanted, a scoop of Dingle Sea Salt, a custard-based ice cream mixed with salt found in the kelp along the nearby shore. The kelp is boiled down, so that the liquid lends a briny quality to the rich vanilla flavor. I had the young server add a scoop of Irish Coffee for good measure. The resulting medium cup was just €6.50 of lactose-saturated pleasure (photo: http://bit.ly/2fLfzL0). Meanwhile, I was sharing with the server how I dreamed about having this ice cream again, and he told us he was quitting his job to go backpacking for six months. I guess we all have different dreams. Mine always have way too many calories. After reading all of the wonderful reviews for Murphy's Ice Cream we put a stop on our agenda. Their ice cream is handmade in Dingle using only fresh ingredients. Murphy's Ice Cream started in 2000. They have an additional location in Killarney but we wanted to visit the original location. Since it was off season we walked right in and received fantastic service. The ice cream is rich and creamy. They only use eggs, cream, milk and pure cane sugar. All of the flavors are from natural ingredients. They say that the secret behind their delicious ice cream is that it is made from the milk of the Kerry cows. We sampled many of the flavors and I decided on Irish Coffee. It was delicious and had a pleasant strong whiskey taste. I had her put it in a cup but I heard that the cones are a delicious treat by themselves. Caramel Honeycomb was also very good. It has a light caramel flavor and is very popular. read more

I first saw Murphy's when we were in Dublin but when I saw "Handmade in Dingle", I knew I had to wait to get it when I was in Dingle. (Several locations - Dublin, Killarney, Kilkenny, Galway!) I love a business that is local - they use milk from local cows, sorbets from their distilled Dingle rain, make their own salt, the list goes on. They also have infused ice cream from the gin they make in Dingle (check out my review for Dingle Distillery). The staff was cheery and wonderful and offered samples of flavors. I chose a chocolate brownie concoction and it was the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. I wanted more! read more

Good ice cream, but very very expensive. We shared a medium Bailey's Irish Cream and Coffee...5.80euro/$8! Its good, but 6 months ago I was eating medium sized Gelato in Italy for only 3euro...but thats not a completely fair comparison I suppose. read more

Murphy's Ice Cream is simply amazing! This handmade ice cream is made naturally and locally in Ireland with high quality ingredients such as cream from local Kerry cows, sea salt from Dingle sea water, free range eggs, and organic sugar. The result is some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted! There were about a dozen flavors to choose from ranging from your typical chocolate and anilla to more exotic options such as caramel honeycomb or Dingle Sea Salt. I wanted to order a flavor that I would not be able to purchase in the U.S. so I ordered a scoop of the "aran donn" (Caramelized Brown Bread) and a scoop of "risini" (Real Rum Raisin). Ok... I know I can get rum raisin in the U.S., but I needed something to pair with my caramelized brown bread ice cream and this was some of the best rum raisin ice cream! The Caramelized Brown Bread ice cream was so unique because it had chunks of brown bread mixed in the ice cream which created one of a kind texture. I have never had anything like this in my life! Until I get the chance to visit Ireland again I will daydream about the heavenly Caramelized Brown Bread ice cream at Murphy's! read more

I have to agree with Conde Naste Traveller, this must be one of the best ice cream shops in the world! I had the Dreamy Creamy Caramel and it was perfection. The freshness really shines though! Hubby had Strawberry Seabeeeze which he also thoroughly enjoyed. Kids enjoyed the honeycomb caramel. Just arrived in Ireland today. Pretty sure we'll be stopping in again tomorrow while still in Dingle. Was happy to hear they have other locations so we may just end up popping in one of them later in the week. Staff was super friendly and they asked if we'd like to sample flavors. read more

Do yourself a favor and get to Murphy's as soon as you can! This ice cream was absolutely amazing! We got a cup at the start of the Dingle Peninsula and loved it so much we came back for more. I haven't had a thing there I haven't enjoyed. My favorites to mix and match include Honeycomb Caramel, Brown Bread, & Apple Balsamic. Don't knock the weird flavors until you try them, and you can try as many as you'd like before buying! read more
