    Irish in Mexico
    Pranamee S.

Lesson learnt - Do not go to an Irish Pub in Mexico! Or may be, if you do don't expect them to have a Jameson and Ginger Ale or May be don't expect them to have 'Irish' live music... This became our funniest memory of a bar because everything was non-Irish except the loud green color everywhere.

Four stars for the view alone!!! Came in to have a beer- sadly they were out of the two I wanted but Halloween was last night and it was crazy. The staff was great. Irish music was playing- live bands at night. Food looked to be a fair price on the menu. I'd certainly give it a shot at night too.

We visited this pub in 2016. My husband comes from a long line of Irish family so when we stumbled upon this bar we had to go in. We ended up staying for a few hours and had a wonderful time. Fast forward to a few weeks ago (2019) when we were in Puerta Vallarta again. We had to visit Murphy's! And we got so lucky the owner was there! What a kind man and he was so welcoming and I enjoyed his stories of how he decided to move and open this bar. Drinks... all tasty but If you like an Irish Car Bomb get a Mexican Car Bomb. The view is amazing sip your beer or cocktail looking at the beautiful ocean. Truly a magical spot. There will never be a time we visit Puerta Vallarta and not visit Murphy's Irish Pub.

Every time I come to Puerto Vallarta I have to stop in here. It has the best views and service in town. After a few drinks there are all the stores you need to shop nearby. My absolute favorite Irish pub

    Cheers!

We didn't eat here, but the staff is super friendly and helpful. We were on our way to the bar upstairs, but they talked is into coming in here. We tried the local red ale- El Terrible. Not bad :) It's humid as hell in Puerto Vallarta and we are Californians. The waiter put a huge fan on us. Very nice!

Enjoyed hanging out here during St Patty's day. Awesome vibe, good music, and a never-ending flow of proper Guinness! Sit close to the balcony and enjoy the view. MUST DO while in PV

Can't beat the view at murphy's and great food

Great music and atmosphere but they totally water down their drinks! Three drinks and hardly any alcohol in any of them. Ripped off!

Poor service. Our food didn't come out at same time. Food was not great. Counting on location and not skill, flavorless frozen food.

It is on the second floor above the Malecon with a wonderful view of the beach and if you're lucky, a nice breeze.

After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.

They use tanqueray as their house gin which is unusual but a pleasant surprise as it actually happens to be my preferred brand. I didn't have high hopes for the martini - I find that outside of major U.S. cities places end up putting in way too much vermouth - and it actually ended up being fantastic. It didn't taste too different from what I would make at home which is probably the best thing I could say about a martini (for my own personal taste). I tried a fruitier one - the Gigi - as my second and final drink. It was good but I'm just not a fruity drink person. I just wasn't equipped to handle another standard martini lol. The ambiance is phenomenal - it was both casual and comfortable yet classy. The crowd was much older than I expected although not in a bad way at all. There were lots of expats in their 50s and 60s. I was worried it would be a rowdy rooftop and by contrast it was actually a very chill vibe. Only complaint is that the bathroom is outside of the venue down the stairs and you need a key to enter, which was a bit annoying bc I wanted to use the restroom before I left and I forgot to ask for the key on my way out. Small annoyance and certainly wouldn't prevent me from going back.

You'll find people engaged in all sorts of activities ....eating, drinking, dancing, and socializing. Andale is the place to have a great time. Today, for some reason, the restaurants and bars on the street seemed less crowded. It was a Wednesday night when we finally stepped foot into Andale's. We ordered margaritas, shots of anejo tequila, and a beverage; we had already had dinner elsewhere. The DJ was playing a mix of 90s R&B, reggaeton, country, and pop music, and the whistle blowing from the staff added to the lively and exciting atmosphere. I must admit, though, the loud whistle blowing now and then annoyed me, I managed to drown it out somehow. If you plan to visit Andale, expect fun and lively atmosphere with plenty of staff ready to serve you.

During our cruise stop in Puerto Vallarta, we decided to have lunch at Andale's Restaurant & Bar…read more The main reason was to try their well-known Chile en Nogada and experience a local restaurant while we were in port. The restaurant itself was pleasant. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was lively, and it was a comfortable place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal. For visitors spending a few hours in town, it's an easy and convenient option. That said, after the meal, I felt the restaurant's biggest strengths were its location and atmosphere rather than the food itself. I specifically ordered the Chile en Nogada, which is considered one of their signature dishes. Presentation was beautiful: a large poblano pepper covered in a rich walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds. It certainly looked impressive when it arrived at the table. The flavor, however, was not what I expected. The pepper was very soft and mild, with no heat at all. The filling combined meat, fruit, and spices, giving it a noticeable sweetness. The walnut sauce was thick, creamy, and nutty, but also surprisingly sweet. When everything came together in one bite, I tasted sweetness, savoriness, nuttiness, and the flavor of the pepper all at once. I can appreciate the complexity and understand why this dish is considered a traditional classic, but personally I struggled with the combination. As the meal went on, the sweetness became more prominent, and the dish started to feel like something caught between an entrée and a dessert. It wasn't bad--it just wasn't something I would order again. We also tried a few other Mexican dishes during the meal. They were perfectly acceptable, but nothing really stood out. The overall food quality felt average: not disappointing, but not memorable either. Throughout the meal, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was a restaurant designed primarily for visitors. The menu, atmosphere, and clientele all felt very tourist-oriented. For travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable place to eat, that may be exactly what they're looking for. But for those hoping to discover exceptional Mexican cuisine, I think there are probably better options in Puerto Vallarta.
