I quickly learnt that tree / bush work is not to be handled by landscapers unless they are cutting a few branches no higher than 5 foot from the ground. Well Clearview sent a great arborist (someone that has actually studied trees!) by the name of Bob. He spent around 45 minutes explaining what trees I was dealing with, their present condition, the best course of action to take and a plan for the new year. This guy knows his stuff and by the time he leaves - you too will know exactly what is going in your garden. The price was actually in line with the landscapers and way cheaper than some other tree specialists who must have thought I was related to royalty. The day of actual work was scheduled for a week later and what a professional bunch of guys. They carefully climbed the yews listening to their team lead who stood next to me asking exactly what I was looking for as well as guiding me when I was clearly unclear as to what should be done. One hour later and I have a great looking yew wall that is neat and well prepared to fill in over summer and save me thousands of dollars in ripping down, grinding and replacing with new trees. The bid for the tree was in line but the bid for the rose bush was too high so we negotiated a fair price. Nemias seemed to know how to prune a rose bush. It takes time and patience. Cutting it wrong can and most likely will kill the plant. The rose bush in question at my house produces a huge amount of deep red roses each year so I am very particular of its pruning. He assured me his people knew how to do it. When the day came they did an excellent job on cutting the crepe. However they used a "Hedge Trimmer", that's right a "Hedge Trimmer" to cut the rose bush, which took all of "2 minutes". It was obvious they had no idea how to trim the plant. For the $60 they charged I could have gone into my garage and mutilated the plant with my own hedge trimmer. The site manager Oscar, assured me his man knew what he was doing. He didn't. They didn't. When it comes to trimming trees, I am sure they are excellent. DO NOT, however, let them touch anything that requires "real knowledge" of horticulture. You will be greatly disappointed.

His crew was already in the neighborhood and showed up just a few hours later. They safely took down all three trees (including a full stump grind on the big one near the house), removed a giant heavy branch hanging toward our roof from the utility tree, and trimmed two others. Everything was done professionally with great care around the house, power lines, and landscaping. They clearly know what they're doing and worked efficiently -- the whole job only took a couple of hours. The price was very fair for the amount of work and the risks involved. They did remove the branches--and maybe one more than expected--but overall, the work itself was fine, and they cleaned up the debris. That said, the customer experience left a lot to be desired. Communication was lacking throughout, except when they repeatedly followed up for the deposit. They didn't tell us in advance that our driveway and front street needed to be clear for their truck, so my partner had to rush home from work to move the car. After the job, no photos were shared, and when I asked about the price and 3% credit card fee, they pointed to the contract. Fair enough--but it would've been helpful if they had mentioned that upfront. I offered to send cash or a check to avoid the surcharge, but they said credit card is now the only accepted method. Between the lack of communication and inflexibility, I wouldn't recommend them based on customer service alone. Hopefully the residue left on our vinyl fence comes off with a hose.

Amazing cleanup. Other than the hole where the tree used to be (and a broken gate), you could not tell that anything had happened. Photos below show the way things looked before any work was done, how things stood after a friend took all the limbs off the tree and how things look now. Highly recommended.

I hired Freeport trees to remove a large tree that was threatening my roof. They did a good job,…read moreclean up well but, two things: they left a large amount of shavings, too much that had to be hauled away by the new tree planter. And they left a large portion of the trunk in the ground that impeded the planting of new trees; they aren't evenly planted and it seems I will need to get the planter back and remove the obstruction and replant the new trees. I tried to contact Freeport but never got a call back. I'm disappointed, I'll have to pay to get this trunk completely removed. It's not my business and went into this blind, trusting Freeport to do a proper job. At this point its become clear that was my mistake. My advise is to be forewarned. Better, find another tree service. The new tree planter told me they completely remove the old trunks, had I known they also remove trees I'd have given it all to them.
