This review is in regards to my visit in March 2026. This was my second visit to the SB Chocolate Cafe - my boyfriend and I shared a slice of chocolate cheesecake nearly a year ago. I remember it being very expensive but pretty good and indulgent. I'm a very kind food reviewer, looking past lots of mistakes. But my god, I hated my chicken salad sandwich. The goop inside was so so bad. Everything felt a little too Gordon food service-y. I swear our chicken salad, coleslaw, and mustard potato salad are all from large vats. The overhead must be huge here. For lunch, my bf paid $35 for tax and tip, which is honestly a little expensive for two sandwiches. Don't order lunch here but do check out their actual chocolate store. They make great gifts! And their discounted section is full of cheap treats!

The service is always fast and friendly, and the ice cream itself is delicious. The rotating flavor menu offers plenty of flavor options, always fresh, and served with a smile. Buchanan has been missing a dedicated ice cream shop for a long time, and Chunk's fills that role perfectly. Highly recommend stopping in!! I was told that most of the fruit flavors are water based, so if you're trying to avoid dairy, froyo & so fruit flavors are a great alternative. Inside is clean and they also offer outside seating for warm sunny days. While we were there we saw people ride their bikes and stop and get ice cream/frozen yogurt. The toppings they offered were good, however, all the candy pieces were so stuck together it wasn't worth the effort to put them in my Froyo. The staff working was friendly and the outside patio is cute. Unfortunately they close early in the evening on Friday and are closed on Saturday. I wasn't super impressed, however 2 star Froyo is still Froyo and it's the only place within a 10 mile radius so I'm glad it's here.

I believe that the first time I went there was in 1988 when I was 16 (my two older cousins were raised in Union Pier), and since I visit SW MI at least twice a year, I never leave without going to Oink's before coming home. As I always took my kids to Warren Dunes instead of Chicago beaches, my kids always got to enjoy Oink's before coming back home also! So this year was no different and my wife and I got to sit down and enjoy ice cream before coming back home. I have always loved the different ice cream flavors (especially strawberry cheesecake), and as I always do, I bought a few pig keychains and other things from the gift shop. I also have always loved the old-school vibe! So every time I am up that way, I'll be there!! One last thing: I got to meet Coach Vink back in the day because my older two cousins (The McSmith brothers, who both passed away unexpectedly in 2024 and 2025), played for him at New Buffalo High School. Coach was a good dude, and I was sorry to hear of his passing. So, see you next time I'm up there!

There's a parking lot and other fun places in walking distance as well to check out. The decor in Oink's will never leave you bored. There is so much to look at! They have a number system so once you enter, be sure to grab a ticket with a number on it and it'll flash on the screen. There were a few groups who came in who were unaware of that and so the lines and ordering process was a tad chaotic. Eventually one of the staff mentioned something about grabbing a ticket and it was easily sorted. Everyone working was very friendly and patient which is a huge plus. I tried out one of their cherry and chocolate ice cream flavors. So tasty! I also love knowing you can get a half scoop as well although it was still so much ice cream. I do not know what that one is because they gave me the wrong piece. The mocha and dark chocolate truffles are very good. The raspberry one is not. The center is very artificial tasting, not edible. I tried the strawberry and raspberry truffle bars and they tasted better. Cherry cordial was good. The peanut butter cup is really good.
