Was very surprised with the lack of service with such great reviews. Made a reservation for 3 but then realized it was only for 2. Called multiple times and never received a call back. Finally spoke to someone and was told she couldn't help me and to call another number. Called that, left a message and nothing. Drove 3.5 hrs to go to dinner and was told they couldn't help me as they only had enough room for 2 and couldn't move our table. Will never try to go there again. ​ read more

The place is cozy and nice decor. We started off with the bruschetta, which excellent. My wife got the French onion soup and I got the garden salad. The onion soup was good, the salad came with parmigiana pepper corn dressing on the side( was very thick, more of a spread than dressing). We then got the entrees (we both got the fillet mignon. I ordered mine medium rare, came medium, my wife ordered hers rare and it came medium rare. So make sure you order accordingly. Taste was ok not great. Sides were ok. Mashed potatoes were good, wife got fries (they were the coated frozen type fries) not good. Overall an average meal for a premium price. read more

Such a nice place in the woods! Cozy atmosphere, really good food ! We love Pittsburgh and it's great to have a place for a nice date nite!

We arrived early for our reservation, but since we were the only people there, we were seated immediately. The fireplace wasn't working but the rooms were decorated nicely. Much of the menu is nearly identical to the Rainbow Grille down the road so we ordered the pepper crusted tuna and a strange shrimp deep fried in an egg roll wrapper. Both were good. Then we ordered a medium rare ribeye with roasted potatoes and salad, and the veal osso buco with rice and salad. Reminder: this is a steakhouse! The steak was less than a half inch thick and way overcooked. The veal tasted like it had been in a crockpot for days and had lost any flavor it ever had. Everything seriously lacked seasoning of any kind. Seriously the worst food we've had in a very long time. We won't be back. read more

One of the best restaurant dining experiences I have had in a long time. Who is the chef?!!! Mushroom risotto was spot on in flavor and creaminess. The grilled salmon filet was cooked to perfection. So moist and fresh. My husband is an onion soup aficionado. Well, we agreed Murphy's is superior to any other we have had. We had plans to dine at another restaurant the following evening. The boy and I had a wonderful meal here during our snowmobile adventure getaway. It was a snowy Sunday night when we arrived, and apparently very late in the land of Pittsburg. There was only one other couple dining. The french onion soup was ok... but everything else was great! I especially appreciated the warmth of the owner and of our server (Mary?). I'm guessing our experience was a little different than the 'norm' as far as being the only folks there - we closed the place - but it was amazing to have such attention (not hovering, just attentive and caring) and such a wonderful quiet atmosphere. (On night #2 we headed to another restaurant that had been very highly reviewed and were incredibly disappointed. We found our fellow patrons to be on the border of being offensive. Its the crowd, I get it... folks were up there to snowmobile, not necessarily fine dine. But, when you're having, and paying for a decent meal, its nice to hear your companion's conversation and not have it be peppered with f-bombs from the adjacent tables. OK, rant over) I guess I'm getting old. But, 5 stars for Pittsburg, definitely read more

We stayed at the INN this last weekend, decided to eat at murphys since it was literally downstairs from our room:) I got a delicious walnut cranberry salad and my boys had the flat bread pizzas. We enjoyed a wonderful meal here. Loved the cozy/comfortable rustic atmosphere. Service was friendly and fast. Started with the bruschetta with toast, so good! Perfect for a summer night. Great new Inn on rt3 just north of Pittsburgh, I think its actually the last business before the border. Beautifully redone Inn and restaurant, all in Northwoods chic. Exposed beams, colonial lighting and accessories. Had lunch Sunday and was very impressed with smoked trout and horseradish apps, many sandwiches,salads,wraps etc... Dinner menu is traditional steaks and fish. Chefs are from the Balsams and we met one when he came out to chat with us. Full bar, local ales, warm, comfortable place with a nice view of 1st Connecticut Lake. 3/4 very nice rooms upstairs, all new. read more

Note to owners: Words that are plural never contain apostrophes, only words that are possessive contain them - i.e. the word Entrée's is incorrectly spelled. The correct spelling is Entrées. Apologies if you have already been made aware, but something to keep in mind the next time you have your menus printed. That being said, we had an overall great experience at Murphy's Steakhouse. Our server was attentive and efficient, albeit slightly aloof. We started with the smoked trout appetizer, which was amazing with crackers, horseradish sour cream, chopped egg, capers and other accoutrements. My husband had one of the specials, a sirloin tip dish with crabmeat and it was superb. The tips were cooked to perfection and incredibly tender, and the dish had a great flavor profile. I had lobster ravioli which was mildly disappointing, though I have to say the sauce and accompanying scallops were delicious and more than made up for the less than ideal-tasting lobster filling. I went here for my birthday in January. This place was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious. Everything was fresh and made on site. Sauces and dressings were so good! Steak was cooked to perfection, calamari appetizer was also cooked perfectly and breading was delicious. We were placed in a crowded room with a rather loud, large party next to us. When we finished our apps the restaurant manager insisted moving us to another table (not per our request). They put us at a cozy table next to the fireplace. Service was top notch! They cared not only about the quality of our food but about our comfort as well. I felt like we were the #1 priority and would highly recommend this and have! I made dinner reservations for my boyfriends parents for his mothers birthday and I'm confident they'll leave as satisifed as we did. Glad we found this gem among the trails! One of the worst meals I have ever paid 30 bucks for. The steak was like beef jerky, the floor and bathroom were filthy. The little guy at the front who said he was the owner was extremely rude and seemed to not care about customer service at all. Great experience. My wife and I have been here a number of times for our anniversary dinner. Beautiful facility and great food. Rolls, corn bread, and salad to start.
