Reservations can be made with an on line form, but at the end of the day all reservations are finalized over the phone. No confirmation emails are provided by this business. Upon arrival we were met at the check-in office by an individual in a golf cart, who guided us directly to our campsite. The campsites are fairly close together, however a row of brush/trees does offer a bit of privacy. At arrival we were also provided the camp guidelines/rules that outline the number of items that are not posted on their website nor were we informed when we phoned for the reservation. A couple of very important items that are not mentioned on the website is that there is only one combined toilet/shower facility for the entire campground. While this may work for big rig RVs. this does not work for many. I think it's very important to note for anyone looking to stay at this location that the single bathrooms/shower is not handicapped accessible should they need that type of accommodation. There are no outdoor fires or charcoal barbecues permitted, even during low fire season, propane only. If you do not have a propane grill, they were offering rentals and/or the free use of a community space for grilling. It should be noted that the owners reside on the property and they had a charcoal grill and charcoal, which is contrary to their own rules. We were also noted at check-in, that once we had checked in, we could not change our reservation and there would be no refunds if we chose to shorten our stay. Having a pop-up camper, we typically rely on campground amenities, such as public bathrooms and showers; this RV park having only one combination bathroom and shower for the entire campground, which also is a little outdated and quite frankly could've been a little cleaner. While limitation of only one facility was not a problem while we were here it did delay our departure, as only one of us could use the facility at a time. While this may work for some, had we known about the bathroom and shower situation beforehand we would not have booked this location. There are a number of washers and dryers available for use with payment. Games, cards, etc. we're available for campers. Other than the washing facilities, games, and a gathering place that was enclosed there's really not many more amenities at this location. There are no nearby trails, bike paths or running paths. Attempts for a morning run through the nearby neighborhood resulted in being chased by loose dogs! The public road to the facility can be a little rough in some spots particularly if you are pulling a trailer. The family was pleasant and they do offer a complementary barbecue on Saturday nights if you happen to stay in the area and there is nice socialization among the camp regulars. It does appear that a number of the campers at this location are here for longer term rentals and have larger campers that do not require use of the public facilities. While there is restaurants and shopping within 10 to 15 minute drive, there is absolutely nothing within walking distance. I would strongly encourage this business to post the information on their welcome documents in the website, so that it's crystal clear for customers as to what they should expect. I would also encourage this business to provide confirmation emails that reiterate the information noted above. I typically rely on reviews for alot of my choices as to where I stay when I go camping. I also hope that the business owners enhance their website information, and pricing structure, to allow customers expectations and what they provide to align.

Sites are long and spacious, level, gravel, wide with shrubbery and some fencing between, adding lots of privacy. Both easy back in and pull through sites. Several large clean showers/bathrooms, laundry and library but no amenities like a pool or hot tub. Did i mention the Excellent cell, and even better fast WiFi, which was very good with multiple access points to connect to through out the park. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Great prices and we used AARP to get additional discount, they also accept Good Sam. Cabins available. Quiet. We were very happy and recommend it.

Service wasn't any better. The receptionist was unfriendly and ignored me when I was checking out. Overall, poor cleanliness and poor service. I won't be returning.

It's true that the accommodations are older (the sinks are in the room with you, be prepared), but the entire place has a charm that I found really cozy and sweet. Our bed was comfortable although I can't speak for other rooms. There is a bookstore immediately next door owned by a lovely gentleman from Scotland who is very knowledgeable about the building and the city. The breakfast had enough selection for us picky eaters and passed our coffee snob test, and you can't beat the location. While our paths never crossed with the staff for long enough to have a substantial conversation, everyone we met while in Silver was truly wonderful. The parking is street parking but we never had any trouble finding a spot immediately in front of the hotel or at worst beside it on a side street. I did wake up once on our second night to some noise on the street, but that was my only issue the entire time.

This is the second time I have been to the Drifter Motel in Silver City in the past couple of…read moreyears. Frankly, my first visit was so memorable that, when I happened to be in the area travelling (and it as the right time of day) it was a no-brainer to return. Understand that this is a budget motel. You are not going to get five-star accommodations here. That is alright so long as you know what you are getting into in the first place. The beds were comfortable, the manager and his family are wonderful people (I wasn't escorted this time because it was just the son working the night shift, but we still got a pair of water bottles complementary for our stay that evening, which is more than you can say about any of the bigger chains!) There are some obvious live-ins staying in the upper rooms, but they aren't a problem... heck, realistically they are kind of a good thing, because they are looking over things as much as the owners are! In the morning, breakfast is served across the parking lot at the Drifter Parking Lot (both are owned by the same folks... the owner came in while we were eating breakfast to get a carafe of coffee for the office) as a part of your room cost, and you can order anything off of the menu excluding the steak, which is quite reasonable. For our entire three week trip across the country, it was the second best breakfast we had. I am so glad that after two years, this motel is still maintaining the standards that I observed the first time I stayed!

Pulling up to the cabins we were just in awe of the beauty of the location. It's secluded and nestled within the beauty of the Gila National Forest. We stayed in the Jolly McGregor Cabin/Casita and the view was just fantastic! The homemade wine/bread and raw honey were also a nice treat upon arrival. There was also Susie's Homemade lip & body balm as nice treats as well. The cabin had all the necessary cooking supplies, condiments and supplies that one could need. There were many times when we just said "Wow, they've thought of everything!" There were books/card games and many pamphlets about the local attractions in the cabin. And last but not least, the gas fire pit and soaking tub was a nice romantic treat! The place was so quiet and secluded we often wondered if we were the only ones there! An additional treat/bonus for this place is that it's off-the-grid. It's completely powered by solar power and gas. Our AT&T phone service didn't work, but the peace was just fine. The owners conveniently have a phone available if calls need to be made. One last thing is that when I researched going to this place, I thought all of the "Excellent" reviews couldn't possibly be real! But after staying there, I can say that there aren't enough words or pictures to describe the beauty and serenity of this place. We had an amazing time and we can't wait to return!
