This was my first visit at this shop. The donuts were good but the customer service was poor. Upon entering the store I stood for a couple of minutes looking for a menu and was then asked, "Did you need something?" Umm yea..I'm here for donuts. There was no "Welcome in!" Or "How's your day going?" Nothing. As someone with 13 years of customer service/sales experience I expected better service. The black lady who rung me up, was a lot nicer (hence the 3-stars). She asked me questions and was more personable. She could probably sense my annoyance with the experience.. Would I return? Probably not. But I wish y'all the best! read more

We were on our way to another restaurant in Sumter for a hot dog as part of my quest to get a hot dog in every county in SC. But, the Murray's donuts sign caught my eye then I saw the Murray's hot dogs sign. I quick did a U-turn! How could I resist donuts ANY hot dogs??? The strip where Murray's is in was busy and there was a line for the Murray's drive thru. Inside we reviewed the menus and the donut options they had on display. Everything looked delicious and fresh and not totally cookie-cutter perfect which I loved. The woman behind the counter asked us a few times if we were ready to order and then we finally felt like we just needed to before she got more annoyed. It wasn't the best customer service experience as no one else was inside in line waiting. I got a hot dog with chili, mustard, and ketchup, a chocolate iced donut, and an apple fritter. My Mom got a hot dog with chili, mustard, onions, and relish. The hot dogs are put in their bun, then microwaved which typically isn't my preferred way to heat them. The toppings were kinda haphazardly added. The final product tasted good but just good. The donuts were very good. Super soft and light but with plenty of body. The apple fritter was great. A fun spot here for two guilty pleasures. read more

The funny thing I've found fun in the 3 years I lived in Sumter is you are likely run into a box of doughnuts from Murray's. And for good reasons! To my limited knowledge, there are only 2 doughnut places in Sumter (no Krispy Kreme), but the doughnuts here are just as good when fresh. And at half price! Four strawberry doughnuts and a cinnamon roll costing me $6 took me for a spin in 2025 prices. Customer service was really good. I really get that classic southern hospitality when I went in at 6:30am to get my order. I would occasionally see a box of these at my work whether it came from a co-worker or patient. Now I get it: got a sweet tooth that'll cost ya a few bucks? Murray's the spot. read more

Amazing. Best Chili Dog I ever ate and the donuts are out of this world. We will definitely be back to visit Murray's Donuts in the future. Cozy place to sit and eat. Lot's of smiles. The donuts here are soft and fresh, but the older lady with the glasses at the drive thru window during the mornings is rude and makes me not want to return altogether. The first time I thought she might've just been having a bad day, but after having gone multiple times, this seems to be her standard attitude. Go for the donuts if you must, but definitely not for customer service. read more

I've been twice and both were not the best customer friendly experiences I've had. Sort of unfortunate because I enjoy reviewing small businesses. The donuts are ok. They didn't taste fresh. This business survives because there isn't much competition nearby. I would highly recommend having the owner greet customers with a smile. Great service can help your business thrive. read more

I'm not sure how Murray's compares to other places, but I won't go anywhere else to get donuts. I go early in the morning so I'll make sure I get the donuts that I want. The prices are not bad and I'm in and out in 10 minutes. They're definitely better than old Krispy Kreme in the food Lion. My family has a craving for them about every two weeks. Outstanding donuts! read more

Not knocking the chain donut shops like Duck Donuts, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. Okay I will knock Dunkies but that is another review. To me it seems like you cannot go wrong with going to your local donut shop. I have come to find that the tastes is better and it is always good to support your local small business. Murray's is one of those places that offer a wide selection of donuts that will solidly satisfy anyone's satiation for sugary sustenance. If the sweetness is not your thing then Murray's still has you covered. There is a decent selection of breakfast sandwiches, fritters and muffins at more than reasonable prices. read more

Went to Murray's over the weekend and they were pretty good. Nice little local doughnut shop and staff was friendly. I will say the 2 cons was drive thru only you weren't allowed inside so our kids were disappointed in that aspect took the fun out of seeing and picking their own doughnut; also we noticed no prices were listed as well I don't love that. Open for drive-thru only, we tried to come on Monday. Murray's is currently (temporarily?) closed on Mondays. So we are back here on a Friday. Only the yeast donuts are included in the dozen. Cakes, twists, cinnamon rolls are a separate charge. The filled donuts have a generous portion of filling. The flavors are delicious. The white and chocolate cream-filled were very rich, scrumptious no doubt, but tough to finish without coffee or a friend HA! The cinnamon roll was decadent and a family favorite. The plain old yeast glazed donut was the clear winner, though, as everyone preferred it. Murray's is well above any chain donut restaurant and worth the visit. read more

I'm a frequent costumer at Murray's. The lady with the black hair who normally runs the order/pickup window is great. However, the lady who was working the window today around 9:50am - Sept 25 - is without a doubt the worst, rude, and disgruntled person I've ever dealt with. She should be fired. read more

First off, a drive through only service is inconvenient for those who have never been there. We have no idea what the place has to offer and cannot see the product. Also, when asked about a food allergens in their food, the worker had no idea what was in their donuts or provide an allergen list for us to look at. read more

This is a great spot. Drive through only. Window service is super friendly and helpful. I drive from miami to nyc and back 4x a year. Have had my share of donuts. Murray's had a big selection. Try the blueberry jelly. Best choc frosted i have ever had?!? May stay in quiet Sumpter more often just to get back. If you can find better donuts than at Murray's let me know. read more

Really gone down hill. Went three time this week before lunchtime and they have already sold out of everything but the non desirables. Almost like once they sell out they don't make more, and they don't make enough of what they do sell. And every time she acts like she doesn't care shes sold out and its not her whole job to sell donuts. Used to be the best, turned into the worst. read more

The sign caught my eye. I have never seen a sign like it before. Hilarious! I made mention of it to my coworkers and they started telling me how good the doughnuts were. So I decided to drop by on my way out of town. Inside, the place smelled like sweet heaven. Looking at the doughnuts, some weren't very pretty or "polished." I stuck around anyways just to see what it was about. Since I got in at 5:02, I got the 2 for 1 special. They close at 6 so I imagine it's their way of cleaning out so they're able to start fresh tomorrow. Man! These doughnuts may not be polished but I sure polished them off! They out did every doughnut shop I've ever been to. I don't really enjoy filled doughnuts but having their raspberry filled and Bavarian cream doughnuts let me know I was just eating the WRONG filled doughnuts! Amazing. The customer service was awesome too. A *real* local shop where they treat ya like a friend they see everyday. I'll be back when I come up again. I can't wait! read more

The best donuts I've ever had! The service and sweet treats are amazing. While only drive-thru is only available, it's not a long wait. The donuts were great! I love the coconut & maple ones, but all were delicious. Even the plain glazed were great. Way better than Krispy Kreme or Dunkin, fresh and the service was good. The lady at the register was nice. Got a mixed dozen for around $8, and was asked if I wanted to make it $10 and get a dozen of glazed. Pricing was way better than any other donut shops I've been to and way fresher as well. Will be going back when I'm in Sumter! read more

Was in town visiting my BF's family and looked for donuts on Yelp. Murray's was the truth. Not the best donuts I ever had, but we ordered a variety and were delightful. They have newfound customers in my BF's family, who live nearby and had never been. Highly recommend if you are in the area and in search of sweets. Not going to over do this one... not sure how much you can overly embellish donuts. But, seriously, these things are fantastic!!! The glazed donut practically melted in my mouth and were simply delicious! And the glazed with chocolate icing were perfect. I didn't feel that the donut was overpowered by the chocolate icing or with not chocolate flavor at all. It was literally the perfect match! Went to Murray's Donuts for the first time today! They are delicious! We got Blueberry filled, Lemon filled, Apple filled, Cinnamon & Sugar, and Glazed. So far we've tried the blueberry, lemon, and cinnamon sugar and we were not disappointed. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because the lady working was super unfriendly.
