Bottom Line: Trendy, typical beach souvenirs sold in a cramped store by indifferent staff…read more I have not been a huge fan of Farmer's Daughter in the past but I thought I would give it a whirl again this year. The store is mainly packed full of trendy and typical beach souvenirs and clothing but there are some exceptions. I put the stacks of Salt Life, Fish Hippie and Simply Southern tshirts in the trendy/typical category. Some of the nicer items that caught my item were Yeti containers, Southern Tide menswear and Cobian flip flops. In the past I have been a big fan of Farmer's Daughters jewelry but that wasn't very shoppable this time around as it was hard to get to the cases. With the challenges that COVID-19 have created for small businesses I tried to give them a fair shake while vacationing in the Outer Banks for a few weeks but Farmer's Daughter left me disappointed. The store was just as cramped as ever with merchandise spilling over into the aisles. And the employees were less than welcoming. One employee pushed past me, literally, to get back to her restocking task at the jewelry counter. And the employee who rang me up only said four words - "twenty-seven seventy-four."

The exterior of the building is nicely maintained and upon walking in the store I was totally mesmerized at all of the stuff to look at. They have tons of yard flags and other cute little knock knacks to stick in the garden. They also carry a variety of OBX souvenirs, Christmas ornaments and other knick knacks. Here, enjoy this gift" Well upon wandering with my boyfriend's mom (An OBX local) she recommended we wander into Urban Cottage. She knows my love for home furnishings and high end pieces and figured this would be my thing. And it totally was. Some of the most gorgeous pieces I have come across and they all were so whimsical and effortless. Such a great store. Their candle stick holders and chandeliers were to die for. If i had some extra chump change, I would definitely make some hefty purchases here. Case in point: Our 3-year-old niece was so happy to have found a piece of sea glass on the beach. She loved it. However, she dropped it and it shattered, leaving her heartbroken. Seeing some children's jewelry on display at Spry Creek, my wife explained the situation and asked if by any chance they had any sea glass to incorporate into a necklace for our niece. The woman said that they did and then took tools out of her bag and began fashioning a special necklace for her right there! The niece loved it and we are forever grateful!

I emailed them, expressing my interest in a few items. While I didn't expect a response until they were open, Fran invited me to stop by anyway (we had already departed the OBX). She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. I got a bit frustrated, but continued shopping until I was able to find just a few of the things. When it came to getting out of here, I opted for the self serve checkouts. Made it easier for me to get out of here in a fast fashion. I will say, it's nice to see this as an option down here now. Last time I was down here, options were limited.
