We have rented a viola from them for years, both of my kids used it Haha well now my son is 14 and has a passion for guitar! His first string broke last night and he was pretty upset. I called the store this morning and they said yes they could help and come on In! So got to turn in the viola and a nice young man showed my son how to change a string at no charge! (He had already purchased strings when he bought his guitar) We will definitely be back for any future needs! read more

I've been renting instruments from this location for years now and it just seems this place has gotten worse. The gal with the glasses weren't patient enough to ring up anything on the cash register. There's one guy there that seems to racial profiling towards certain customers. He said some things to me when we were there, and because of what was said, we will certainly take our business elsewhere for the next school year. Started voice lessons for my daughter at the store next to QFC in Kent. Teacher showed up twice in three months, yet they charged me for all lessons. Now Im battling trying to get the charges to stop. Please save your time and money and go to another music store! This one needs to go out of business! read more

Never buy online, this store has a bad reputation with payment handling and overcharging, so you need to only pay in-store. I own an electric cello and went in yesterday to look at an upgrade acoustic one. Extremely awkward as the person just stared at us while I looked at the two available. Getting any information was painful. I even stated this would be my first acoustic cello and asked what they could tell me about it. They said they didn't know what it was made of or anything and that was all I got. All of this made it a bad experience but the icing on the cake was when the two employees then spent the remainder of our time in the store talking badly about a customer who they were just on the phone with who has been passionately calling and trying to get piano lessons set up. Apparently they have better things to do than answer customers' question about the products and services they provide. read more

I'm not sure why the rating for this store is so low. My 7 year old son takes guitar from Mr. David and we love it here. David is endlessly patient, but does require respect and listening skills from my son, which to me is a sign of a good teacher. David stays on task, teaches the fundamentals and allows the kids to play songs they enjoy even as beginners. David has never canceled our lesson or no showed even on holidays (and we are on Mondays so there Alsace been a number of 3 days weekends) The staff as the store is awesome. They are always friendly, smiling and quick to laugh. We see them every week, always the same friendly faces. The store auto charges my card every month so it's easy for me to just show up and not worry about owing money. I say give music and arts a try, these hard working employees and teachers certainly don't deserve the rating they have here on yelp. read more

I loved this place when it was Benson Music. Even after they became Music and Arts they weren't too bad. Something happened in late 2006 though. The staff had completely changed with a much stronger sales focus. Even though we had the protection program on our rental, when we brought it in for repair they told us they didn't have a loaner and we had to pay for ANOTHER rental! We eventually got taken to collections on a violin rental by their corporate office because the payment system they use wasn't communicating with the corporate database. We received a lot of apologies from the personnel at the store but never any real help. We payed off the rental (but I still feel that the guy ended up ripping us off) just to be done with this awful awful place. Shame. Used to be a good store. read more

Worst service ever. I have had the run around with this company for weeks now. I've talked with the main customer service line and the representative assigned to our school. Absolutely zero follow through, I get apologies that are empty, and promises that are not met. I wish I had another option but like Comcast, I am stuck. If you have another choice, run to it quickly. It was rocky at first when Music and Arts first took over our local music store, but they've done a good job of fixing a lot of the problems and working hard to make customers happy. I can't speak to their rental policies as I've never rented an instrument from them, but I buy a lot music and equipment from their local store for my studio and have been pleased with the customer service I receive. They are small, but carry a good assortment of books and are willing to order in anything they don't have. Plus if you have things shipped to the store you don't have to pay shipping which I count as a definite plus. read more

Ok, so I have known this store was here for a while and stopped in yesterday as I am teaching myself Bass guitar and in the market to purchase one as I bought a cheapo electric/acoustic to learn on. I entered the store and an IBANEZ caught my eye as that's what I was looking at on amazon. DYLAN the manager was behind the counter and I asked if I could plug in, he of course said yes. I tried all three bass's on the wall and the Ibanez sounded best. After going through a couple songs I stopped and went over to the electric piano. I started playing a couple pink floyd tunes and unbeknownst to me DYLAN left from behind the counter and grabbed a 6 string guitar and started accompanying me! BLOWN AWAY!! I had the biggest smile on my face. Wish it were caught on tape. I then proceeded to buy the Bass and stand. As I was checking out DYLAN asked me if I needed anything else and I said Bass picks. He apologized and said they dont carry them. DYLAN then pulled out his wallet and gifted me one his own personal picks. BLOWN AWAY!! CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS FINEST!!! THANK you DYLAN for the best IN STORE experience I have EVER had in my 55 years of life. read more

I first came here already stunned at their ridiculously high prices and after browsing their selection and picking out the least expensive options of field show and jazz equipment, I come home only to unbox $130 dollars of broken/ unreasonably cheap items for my trumpet. The fact that they rip off students who already work their asses off in band just to make a few extra bucks is sickening, and because of it, I won't be purchasing anything from here again. Calling customer service has been the worst experience ever. The women I spoke to on the telephone wasn't helpful at all. This company should update their computer system. They had no record of me returning my daughters instrument, even though it was turned in. I explained to the women that I did in fact turn it in and paid my balance. I told her I would call the store myself because she didn't offer to do so. Her response was "good luck ". Not the response I was expecting, but I guess that's how they conduct business. I will never do business with them again! read more
