Had a great experience here picking out a guitar for my son. The person working that day showed him how to hold and strum his new guitar and my little guy was thrilled. We will very likely sign up three of our children for lessons at this location (guitar, violin, and piano). We were traveling and my husband forgot his practice mute. We went to Music & Arts to get a mute so he could practice in the hotel room. Not only did they have mutes, but they also had many top-notch music supplies there. As professional musicians, we were impressed with the quality of the items in stock. My daughter is starting 5th grade and decided to play the violin for school. I wasn't sure where to go to rent her a violin so decided to stop by here to try it out. I am so glad we did! Yakov was so helpful in helping us rent a violin, buy what she needed (starter pack and music book) and even showing her how to hold and care for the instrument. I don't have any experience at all in regards to instruments so I was glad someone else knew what to do! He was really kind and helped my daughter feel at ease! We got a beautiful rental violin. We came in to let one of our teens hold/check out an instrument. The people here were above and beyond friendly and informative. It did feel pushy for lessons, but we don't live super close to this location, so I knew I wasn't going to sign up. I gave it 3 stars b/c they were nice and helpful. A little pushy. They had a nice selection of music, and random needed musician items for instruments. If needed something I would come back to get it. And yes, they offer lessons as well as rentals here. read more

My Daughter and I came into this store to buy a keyboard for her to learn music on. She was overjoyed to be in a place that was focused on music. When I found one that would be more her size( she's five after all) I asked the staff about it. One of them wouldn't even get up to help us, instead directing a very young guy to help us out. Problem was, he didn't even seem to know how to work the online order form, which for the record looks much like an amazon page. Meaning I could've ordered this from home, and actually gotten all the parts with it that I asked for. IE: an AC adapter so I'm not spending a fistful of dollars on AA batteries. I stayed and ordered it anyway, assured by the staff onsite that it did indeed come with an AC adapter. They told me I'd get an email letting me know when the keyboard arrived in their store. Which I did, and then I came down and picked it up. I didn't open in in store, as the counter space was at a premium and I didn't want to crowd the guy working behind the counter. Got home, opened it, no AC adapter. Ok... guess I'm buying batteries . Whatever. It's been a week and a few days now, I'm still getting daily emails about picking up my order, or I'll get a refund etc... Really??? I offered to sign for it, but was told that wasn't needed. So, in the interest of not getting anything for free from what looked like a mom and pop outfit, I went back to let them know I had picked up my order, and since I was there, let them know I was mildly annoyed that no AC adapter was included in my order. Same lady who was there when I placed my order, the one who wouldn't assist in even the smallest way, explains to me, that the emails are no big deal, and that no AC adapter is a "feature" and that most people like their keyboards mobile. Really? I tell you there's a problem and you tell me my "issue" is a feature? Wow... and all without getting up from your stool. It's funny, just because, I'd have been willing to buy an adapter right then, and there, but you couldn't be bothered to do anything. You should quit your job, and go back to sitting full time. I can't imagine any business owner who would want to pay you for sitting there, and refusing to assist people who walk into the store. As for my daughter and I, guess she won't be taking music lessons at your store, and I guess she and I won't be coming back until this business changes hands again. read more

I had one of the worst customer service related experiences at the Renton Music&Arts store. I purchased an alto sax for my daughter and the octive key didn't work. Upon return, the clerk was more concerned with offering excuses and a repair plan than other options (ultimately he finally ordered another one to exchange it). Came back a week later and he continued with trying to sell a repair plan. I won't bore you with all the conversational details, but on both occasions he was more concerned in offering excuses and selling a repair plan than in making the customer happy. It was one of the most frustrating experiences, I WILL NOT he going back to that location. read more

This is by far the best Music store. The manager is extremely helpful, funny, knowledgeable and his customer service goes above and beyond. I usually go to the store in Kent but Timothy made us feel so welcome that I don't mind the driving to his store. He even gave my son some guitar lessons when we just came to buy a care kit for his viola. I would definitely recommend this store! Thanks Timothy - you're the man...!!! read more

I originally rented an instrument for my child a few months ago. I purchased the insurance plan, however they didn't explain to me what it covered, so I was under the assumption that the entire instrument is covered. Recently, after only a few months, my child somehow managed to chip the mouth piece. When I went into the store, to have it replaced/covered by insurance, I was told that the insurance doesn't cover the mouth piece! I was already irritated that my child somehow chipped the mouth piece, and then to be told it wasn't covered, I was even more irritated. However...Tymmothy, the store manager was extremely understanding, friendly and calmed me down. He was able to replace the mouth piece this time, and even took the time to educate my child and provided a demonstration on how to clean the instrument as well. I thought his customer service was awesome! He even apologized for the lack of communication, when I initially signed up for the monthly rental and insurance plan. read more
