I can't even begin to say how horrible this company is. They are not a military friendly, have horrible customer service and do not care about their customers at all. We rented our son's musical instrument in New York and then moved to Virginia. We went to this store in VA to return the instrument in August since my son decided on a different elective. I was told from Maggie based in their system we only had 1 more month to pay on it and it was ours. So I took it back home. We still were getting charged monthly. When I called 1800 customer service number, I was informed by representative Carlos based on their system New York and New Jersey are the only states that rent monthly NOT rent to own so I was continuing to be charged. I asked for reimbursement and was told he couldn't do anything and a supervisor will call me. Supervisor Ana called me back 5 days later and I was told the only thing I could do was return the instrument to not get charged anymore. I escalated it to a higher level supervisor who again didn't call back for a week, while I returned the instrument that day in store. Maggie and Chris were in the store and they apologized and stated they couldn't do anything and to continue with the 1800 number. When I called to determine the status of my case, I was told I didn't have authorization as it was under my husband's name and he had to call. I gave the representative, Carlos my case number and supervisor Ana's name and magically I could speak about the incident. Hence the reason for this review! Congratulations Music and Arts you received a $200 donation from us, but we will recommend ALL of our friends and any MILITARY people to NOT use your company. It is a shame there is no military clause! I still do not understand how the store's system is DIFFERENT than the customer service system? Remember people, document everything (date, time, personnel you spoke to) because it matters. read more

My son was taking drum lessons and due to frequent class cancellations by the instructor we went elsewhere. Their management is terrible and I have called numerous times trying to get refunds for the classes they canceled and still haven't been able to get a resolution. Beware of this. read more

I decided to start learning guitar and once my Guild came from Sweetwater Sound, I noticed a buzz that was annoying and confirmed that buzz with my son who works at Sweetwater. He suggested a setup and I found my way to this store. I was told that they send their guitars to the best luthier in the area and, via email, was told that it would be 8-10 business days until I got it back. Four business days (Tuesday) later I was called and told the price and that I would get my guitar back on Friday. I called the store an hour before they closed on Friday and was told it would be the following Tuesday and that I would receive a phone call when it came in. When Tuesday arrived, I stopped by the store that afternoon because I was in the area. Brittany told me the driver just dropped my guitar off and said, with some attitude, "I just haven't had a chance to call you yet, sir." I will not apologize for wanting my guitar that I had just purchased and had to go two weeks without it. Even trying to have any conversation with her was met with a one or two-word response. Customer service is lacking a bit in this store and, like another review on here regarding this store, I simply walked out with no thanks for coming in or anything. read more

I was attempting to connect my bm 800 Condenser mics for my podcast and decided to call Music and Arts for assistance. I called the store and got Jorge on the phone, he was willing to stay after work until everything was up and running. The staff is great, very down to earth, and knowledgable. I brought the equipment to the store and even got a professor named Benjamin in on the deal, he and Jorge teamed up and I was good to go! They even made it their business to walk me through GarageBand to connect dual mics. Tim and Brittany were also very cool Brittany even let us hear her podcast, she sounded like a pro, they both advised me on XLR cables, mics, and Interfaces. Big Thanks to the Music & Arts staff. My son was admitted to this Music & arts center, teachers are great, but they need to have a better management, they offered a free acoustic guitar for a new student last month, I picked up a acoustic guiter for my son, paid for tuition, the store manager (Brittany) showed me three guiter which I can get a free one, she didn't explain me what is the difference in those three guiter, later,we came to know there was a acoustic electric guitar (combo) I could pick from, next day my wife went to the store and ask an employee if she can exchange it or pay the difference for the acoustic electric guiter but the employees don't know how to do it since there was no store manager,but my wife was told she can exchange with a acoustic electric guiter and pay the difference when store manager comes. Then my wife went another day and talked to store manager (Britany). Manager told my wife, she can't do anything since we didn't pick up the right one on the first day. She was not helpful but arguing with my wife and told here " are you not happy with the free offer?" Is not the way she can speak with a customer like this. she needs to teach their employees the store rules/ policy before any customer get confused. Hope the store manager(Brittany) will have better attitude to help other customers in the future. read more

There are no stupid questions here, as they are very patient. If you are looking for musical instruments and instruction, this is your go to place. read more

I really enjoyed this place and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. My son needed a string for his cello and the staff was nice enough to string it and tune the instrument at no cost. I felt the cost of the strings was reasonable and I would recommend this place to anyone seeking an assortment of instrumental items. I've seen some poor reviews for this place, but I'm guessing they didn't get the pleasure to meet staff members Timarie and Denise. Great place that I will visit again! read more

I have used Music and Arts for my children's instruments over the years. I purchase a violin for my 7y.o, her music teacher has had to struggle to tune it before, and during every class-taking away from the lesson-and when I took it in, the sales person just made excuses as to why it is difficult. I finally asked for a replacement, and they offer me a rental, but would not replace it. Also, I had an outstanding bill with them-unknowm to me-and a few months later, I had several debits taken from my checking account, over drafting it as a result. Apparently, though the method of payment was not on my file, they could just use my debit card I used to pay for the other child' violin without asking me. The customer service rep claimed that the company had been trying to contact me for months, though my home address has not change, nor has my phone number. My suggestion, is to find another store for your instruments needs. Terrible Company!! read more
