I've driven by this place 1000 times and never went in. Until today. Yes, the outside looks old…read more The interior decor is... interesting. So what? How's the food? Amazing. And reasonably priced. Very. Especially the prime rib and the sourdough bread. Steak fries are tops, too. I no longer need to travel far to find a great, reasonably priced medium-rare prime rib. This is the place. Great service, too. But it's not huge and it can get busy; that tells you how good it is.

This is a steakhouse that serves different cuts of meat, but it's primarily known for its prime…read morerib. I've been here several times including yesterday. Would I say they have the best prime rib around? No. But it is pretty damn satisfying. When here, I always order the Franciscan cut Prime Rib cooked to medium (it's 3/4 pounds), house salad with ranch dressing, and steak fries. They throw in a loaf of sourdough bread with whipped butter. The prime rib is very tender and has plenty of fat. We all know fat equals flavor. The only thing I would change about it, and I keep forgetting to ask the server each time I'm here, is to have it served without the au jus already in the plate. Don't get me wrong. The au jus is fantastic, but when the prime rib is served in a pool of it, the meat becomes soggy. Served separately, I think the prime rib would be even better. In addition to the prime rib, the salad and steak fries are incredibly delicious. The salad is nothing fancy, but very tasty due to the ranch dressing it comes with. Wish I knew the recipe of the dressing. The steak fries pair perfectly with the prime rib. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I would say is pretty average is the sourdough bread. Although it comes out warm, I don't get the sense that they're freshly baked. The service here is phenomenal. The servers are attentive, polite, and efficient. Can't ask for anything more from them. If you're looking for a trendy spot with contemporary decor and pretentious vibes, this place is not for you. This is an old school steakhouse with red upholstered booths and soft music playing in the background. If you live in the South Bay, and you're looking for a classic prime rib experience, this is a place you should check out.

Plenty of parking on the plaza…read more Came on a weekday night during Happy Hour. Place was packed. Ambiance was nice. Music was extremely loud, had to yell to have a conversation. Waiters kept checking on us. Got the mild Buffalo Wings for $14 and Parmesan Fries for $6. The wings were good. The Parmesan Fries were really good, they didn't skimped on the Parmesan. Both dishes were small and came with ranch sauce. Got place to watch the games with friends. Not the place to have a conversation. Happy Hour was Monday to Friday from 4pm to 7pm and 10pm to closing at midnight. Karaoke night was Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10pm to closing at midnight.

I had business in the same shopping center and decided to drop in for lunch…read more Torrance Tavern is restaurant bar located in a shopping center. Needless to say, there is plenty of parking. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

Molly is the kind of bartender who makes you feel like you're the only person in the room--even when the bar is packed and there's a small mountain of dishes somewhere quietly filing a complaint against her. Does she always win Employee of the Month for dishwashing? Absolutely not. If dishes could leave Yelp reviews, they might have some thoughts. But people? People LOVE Molly. She has an uncanny ability to remember your name, ask how your dog is doing, and then somehow get emotionally invested in your answer. Sometimes her heart is so big that her feelings show up before the next round of drinks does. But that's exactly why everyone adores her. She's genuine, caring, and incapable of pretending not to care. As for the beer she poured me? Perfect. Crisp, cold, and delivered with enough enthusiasm to make me feel like I'd just won an award for "Most Deserving Person to Drink This Beer." Molly doesn't just serve drinks--she serves validation, friendship, and occasional emotional support. The dishes may not always be spotless, but somehow everyone leaves feeling like their soul got polished. 10/10. Would happily wait for a clean glass if it means getting served by Molly.

You can tell she genuinely cares about the people who walk through the door, and it makes such a difference. I ordered the pastrami on rye (basically a Reuben) which was good. I wish it had more meat and it was half sliced, half chopped. Theirs seems to be all chopped up and crisped, which gives it a nice texture and almost bacon-y vibe. Messy but good. I had a side salad which was also good. Overall our meal was great and there were TVs visible from anywhere you sat, which is perfect for a sports bar. My big gripe is being charged $1 for pickles to go with a sandwich. Maybe you get more if they put them directly on the sandwich, but they forgot mine so the pickles came in a ramekin. 6 pickle slices for $1.
