I had business in the same shopping center and decided to drop in for lunch. Torrance Tavern is restaurant bar located in a shopping center. Needless to say, there is plenty of parking. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm. read more

I had a great time at Torrance Tavern! The highlight was definitely trivia night, they use the King Trivia app, which was super easy to navigate even for a first timer. I enjoy that they host events like this to keep things lively. ​Food-wise, I'm sticking with the buffalo boneless wings next time. I've tried both the traditional and boneless in their "hottest" sauce, and honestly, it's very enjoyable and totally bearable, more like a standard buffalo heat level if you ask me. The food is always tasty (the Chile Verde Nachos are so good, and their Philly cheese Steak hits the spot every time). The food was okay - I had mild wings and grilled cheese (not pictured). Both were fine, but I do with the cheeses were more flavorful considering they were on sourdough. (It just didn't stand out). The Sammy was also rated as okay and the overcooked fries didn't do it any favors. However, the Tamarango drink was excellent - spicy and tangy without being overbearing. Cool local spot! TVs are everywhere to watch a game. We arrived towards the end of a Lakers playoff game. My friend wanted to have drinks and food and the first thing that popped up in my head was Torrance Tavern. I remember having delivery years ago and the food was absolutely delicious, but the items I ordered years ago no longer exist on their menu unfortunately. I thought the place was bigger but it isn't. It's in a plaza with ample parking. You walk in and you seat yourself. There's of course the bar area, booths and high tables. The vibe feels older crowd for sure. I ended up having the southwest crispy chicken salad and I loved the chicken strips so much I ended up getting an order of them with sweet potato fries. I paired it with honey mustard. It was like a match made in heaven honestly. I don't know how they fry it but it was probably the CRISPIEST chicken tenders I've ever had. I try not to be the person that gets chicken strips at a restaurant but this is an exception for sure, especially paired with alcohol PHEW what a combo. I also tried the Chinese chicken salad which was also pretty scrumptious. I ended up finishing my friends salad as we switched 1/2 way through our salads. To drink I tried the Torrance Tai I believe is what it's called. Basically a Mai tai. The first few sips were good, but then after that it was straight alcohol and I couldn't tolerate it anymore. I left half of my drink because of how strong it felt. If I wanted to get a good buzz going I would've finished it, but I'm personally a light weight. The customer service was underwhelming. The waitress had no sense of enthusiasm or friendliness and only checked on us maybe twice over the course of an hour+. Burger tasted super delicious, they became one of our favorite burger place now! I'm giving 4 stars only since the service was lacking a bit, it took them for a while to get us menus and our server never checked on us how we were doing, not even once! Clearly I found a new place to watch a Dodger Game! The theme of this place is so neat as you enter. So Win Win for everybody. All tasty, but the standouts were the Buffalo chicken (moist, crispy and flavorful) and the Cubano (a little different take, but still really good). No rotating taps even though it's on the menu, but an Offshoot hazy IPA and the always classic Elysian Space Dust kept us hapoy.
