Ribeye, asparagus and a baked potato
    Tom K.

There were 6 of us for dinner and we all had a great time. It's expensive but well worth the price. We ordered ribeyes, filets, asparagus, au gratin potatoes, a baked potato and all were cooked perfectly and delicious. All of the sides are shareable. The cocktails and two bottles of De Tables Creek were very good. We had excellent crème brûlées and an apple pie for dessert. Our server, Alex, was excellent and added to the evening. It was very busy so we were seated in a comfortable booth in the room with the bar. Obviously, we will return.

My first visit to Musso & Frank was everything I hoped it would be and more. We were looking for a little class and old-school elegance before heading off to the Smiths/Morrissey Convention, and Musso & Frank delivered on every level. The doors opened at 4 PM, and we were genuinely surprised at how quickly the place filled up. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and escorted to the bar. My first impression? It felt like stepping into another era. The timeless atmosphere, the bartenders in their classic dinner vests, the polished wood, and the unmistakable Hollywood history surrounding you it all adds up to something special. The bartending team was a show in itself. Watching them effortlessly craft two and three cocktails at a time with precision and confidence was impressive. The Dry Martini was absolutely flawless about as good as it gets. Even better, they didn't blink when I ordered my signature Black Manhattan, a cocktail that's often met with puzzled looks elsewhere. Here, it was prepared perfectly and without hesitation. We kept things light and ordered a few small plates. The shrimp cocktail was so good we immediately ordered a second round. And the famous tomato soup? My oh my. Some things simply have to be experienced firsthand, and this is one of them. What really stood out was the service. Even though the bar was filling rapidly, our bartender went above and beyond to make sure every detail was right. The attention to hospitality never felt forced it felt genuine. Musso & Frank isn't just a restaurant; it's a piece of living Hollywood history. Between the atmosphere, the cocktails, the food, and the exceptional service, this was one of the most memorable bar experiences I've had in a long time. We'll definitely be back--next time for a proper dinner date. Cheers to another 106 years! Texas Mozzer

First time at this establishment. Arrived on time and parked on their lot. Fifteen dollars to park your car and dine. They validate the ticket to pay the fifteen dollars. I don't know if it's more if you don't valid. They have a dress code too. No hats during dinner time. The chicken pot pie is tasty. They present the meal and transfer to a plate to cool off the pie. The roasted chicken is delicious. For dessert the key lime and apple pie are a must. Save room! We will definitely dine again. Dining experience was nice and quiet. Great conversations going on and people from near and far come here. Give this place a try!

Walked over to Musso and Frank Grill after the Sound of Music at the Pantages, always a great time. Try to sit in Marco's section of the counter, always a nice vibe! Last night had the Veal Schnitzel with prosciutto along with a side of broccolini and hollandaise sauce. My wife had 8ounce filet and we shared a 1919sundae. Everything was delicious, cocktails were super and service is always fabulous. Do your self a favor and take a loaf of bread home.

5.5.26 Hubby wanted to try this spot while we were in LA after seeing it featured in Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood. I made a 9:15 PM reservation, and surprisingly, the restaurant was still packed that late. We arrived early and grabbed a seat at the bar--where part of the movie was filmed--while we waited. Even more surprising, I received a text about 20 minutes before our reservation time letting us know our table was ready. Service was a bit slow, but our server was very friendly. We split the New York steak and the chicken Parmesan, with mashed potatoes on the side since sides are à la carte. The chicken Parmesan was absolutely massive--it took up the entire plate. I've never seen anything quite like it. That said, the standout was the steak. My husband raved about it and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Highly recommend.

I can see why this place is famous! Unassuming on the outside but very classic old style Italian steak house!! Perfect charm and definitely packed. Valet for $15 for 3 hours. The pastas were delicious! Free bread was also yummy but would be even better warm. NY strip and julienne fries were delicious. Definitely go for an occasion and book in advance!!

Was in the area on vacation and have been wanting to check this place out due to its history and reputation. I was dining solo so I was sat at the counter. The atmosphere was very nostalgic, a big throwback to classic Hollywood. My server was good but not what I would consider nice. The rest of the staff I met were great. I ordered Prime Rib that was absolutely delicious! It came with a loaded baked potato and fresh bread. Overall had a great time and looking forward to going back.

A real gem in Hollywood. Musso & Frank is a great spot to go if you're craving a great steak or just a great meal in general. Everything feels like old school Hollywood. From the interior to the menus to the service your receive...it's all classic and charming. The complimentary sourdough is also awesome. Favorites bites: - French onion soup - so so good - Chicken parmesan - this is huge but delicious! - Rib-eye - Truffle mac n cheese If you have a small party, I recommend sitting at the bar where you can see the grill, it's mesmerizing. I also heard the desserts were excellent, but I've always been too full to try it!

Every time I wanna come here my plans fall through, but I finally made it in last night and it was worth the wait. First off, make a reservation because although some places in Hollywood are emptier this is not one of them. This is probably the busiest place in Hollywood. Timeslots book up quickly so be sure you make it in advance. We came in after a show at 9:30 and there was not one empty spot. We were greeted and seated promptly. Service here is excellent. Everything on the menu looks so good. They have quite an extensive menu.. I went with the fettuccine Alfredo and the Keylime pie for dessert. The fettuccine Alfredo was delicious. It's different from your traditional Alfredo it's not made with cream sauce but rather with butter and cheese and the portion is very generous. I can get 3 to 4 meals out of it. I did add grilled chicken and it was simple, but the rosemary really punched up the flavor of the alfredo. The Keylime pie may be the best I've ever had so mouthwatering I didn't wanna share and their bread that they give you is a great homemade sourdough bread. If there's any leftover put it in a box, bring it home toast it up and put some butter on it. I definitely need to make a return trip because I wanted to eat everything on the menu and if everything's as good as their fettuccine, I'm in for a real treat.

If it wasn't for our second bar host, I would've given this place ONE star for the service from the first bar host... Arrived on opening with our party of 4. 2 of us got seats at the bar, while the other two stood by. So...the first bar host was incredibly rude and looked like he hated being there. He was stationed on the far right if you're facing the bar. Like dude, you just opened. Why are you grumpy. He approached us as soon as sitting down and asked "you know what you want?" and we stated we were not ready yet. I asked if he had a menu of specialty cocktails and the dude actually rolls his eyes and half tosses a menu at me that I had to catch on the counter before it fell off. We were in shock at this guy's behavior. Thankfully he was not our main bar host because he shifted attention to other customers closer to his side. (He even ended up spilling a drink when serving it to the couple beside us and DID NOT apologize...). I do appreciate our kind, second bar host who was great. It's cool this place holds so much history, but I absolutely don't see myself ever recommending or visiting again because of that service alone.

Los Angeles RoadTrip Episode 3 "I just want to tell you all how happy I am to be back in the studio, making a picture again! You don't know how much I've missed all of you. And I promise you I'll never desert you again because.. Dining at "Musso & Frank" is almost too kool for skool.. It's like entering a film production and treated like the starring cast.. After libating a "Lemon Drop" for the Lass and an "Espresso Martini" for the Lad. These drinks were tagged w. "sidecars"..yes more kool.. The sharing a "Burrata Salad, RibEye Steak, Lyonnaise Potatoes and Grilled Broccolini" All items were most delicious and perfectly cooked. Then more libations.. A "Musso Negroni Cocktail" for the Lass and A "Stoli Vodka Martini" (Shaken not Stirred..:) for the Lad. The restaurant booths felt like a fun throwback to a Crime Flick from the 1950's. Service from start to finish was first class.. "we'll make another picture and another picture. You see, this is my life! It always will be! There's nothing else! Just us, the cameras, and those wonderful people out there in the dark!... All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."..:) Best, Avram Billywilder Jr

What a class act. Had such a lovely meal here. We were celebrating my partner's birthday, and reuniting with my parents after a long nine months apart! The service was lovely, polite, and best of all - efficient. The food - every bite better than the last. My first sip of food was from the single best Gin martini in all of Los Angeles. The scallops were tender, sweet, and savory, served alongside a delicious chip and earthy shiitake mushrooms. I couldn't believe how well the flavors worked together. The Musso-Frank special salad was incredible - perfect amount of roughage to offset the incoming meat. The steak tartare was tender, well seasoned, and thoroughly flavorful. And the entrees were amazing. I loved the short rib special, but having nibbled on everyone else's meals, I would say I'd have the risotto if I were to do it over again. Though the biggest polpette I've ever seen in the Spaghetti & meatballs were enticing. I can't wait to come back for so many reasons, not least of which the old world decor, with high ceilings and grandiose wood paneling that embodies a presence and a sense of occasion. I felt so thoroughly taken care of here. Can't wait to come back.

Came here on a Friday with my family. Make sure you make a reservation because it was busy! We showed up 30 min early to have a drink at the bar before dinner and it was packed. You must have a martini at the bar! I opted for a vodka martini and they give you a small glass with basically an extra serving! We were seated promptly at 7:30P at our reservation time. I'm not going to lie.. drinks were flowing so I can't quite remember the side dishes I was eating. I just know that the potato dish we ordered was delicious! Also the french fries came with a thousand island sauce similar to In n Out's animal style sauce! I ordered the New York Steak, medium rare and it was cooked to PERFECTION! So tender! Highly recommend! Service was great as well! Everyone was so kind and really attentive. It was very busy but still had steady service from everyone. Highly recommend!

Musso & Frank Grill Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Musso & Frank Grill

I'm uneasy. We have an early dinner resv, Friday 6pm. We'll be in that part of town all day doing tourist things and no chance to get back to the hotel to dress up. Would nicer shorts and a collared shirt under a sweater with tennis shoes be ok?

Hi! Our dress code is business casual, unfortunately we don't allow shorts, flip flops, beach ware baseball hats. Thanks

Is it noisy during the dinner hour and therefore hard to have a conversation with the people at your table?

It is a bit noisy but it can matter where you are sitting, the day of the week, and the time. It is still easy to hold a conversation at either a booth or a table. I only go Saturday nights because of the special, SHORT RIBS.

Does the valet still take credit card? How much is it? TIA!. FYI I went today and it's $15 with…

We went on Sunday. It was $25 with validation. We were there for less than two hours.

What is the corkage fee and is there a bottle limit?

Hi. $40 regular $80 magnum $55 champagne, limit is 2 btls for a party of 4.

Can I take my toddlers here?

It's loud. Crowded. Not at all a calm or peaceful dining choice. It's in mid Hollywood and yes, you can take a toddler but I would not.

Since we can't get a reservation can you typically just sit at the bar and order full menu? We eat early so wondering if it's feasible to just show up?

Hi! We have a counter that serves full menu, first come first serve!

How many oz is the order of ribeye steak?

Wanna say 8 or 12 oz - no bigger than that. My husband and I do a split and it's enough to eat there with no doggy bag.

Will you be reopening for Lunch anytime soon?

Hi! At the moment we don’t have any plans to open for lunch. Thank you!

Is there a special seasoning supposed to be on the chicken when you order fettuccini with chicken?

Hi! The chicken added on the Fettuccine Alfredo is marinated in extra virgin olive oil, garlic and rosemary. It’s then flat grilled.

Is the bar area first come first serve or reservation only?

First come first serve. Thank you

If we stop by just for drinks but the bar is full, is there standing room or would we have to wait outside?

Unfortunately the bar area is quite cramped. There’s some standing room close to the entrance door tho!

Typical wait time for a walk up party of 4, Sunday, 4pm? Thank u in advance for any insights.

Hi! If you don’t have a reservation usually it’s quite difficult to get a table. But we do have a counter that’s first come first serve and we serve the full menu. Usually wait time is from 30 to 60 minutes. Thank you!

Is there valet parking? Does Musso & Frank valet park?

No valet but on the side street turn into The Muso sign $12. If you miss it the next lot is $30

Is T-shit with the jeans ok?

Yes! Business casual. No tank tops, flip flops, shorts or hats.

If we have a late reservation, is there typically room at the bar on a Friday to sit while we wait for our table?

Since the bar doubles as dining space there's not usually space to sit there to wait. You wait outside in the back parking area where there are seats. However if you have a late reservation you might be in luck and snag the bar while you wait. But I…

Is there a signature dish that they are known for here?

The Original Fettuccine Alfredo ( read it's history on the menu) and Roast Prime Rib of Beef.

Where is the nearest parking area/lot to the restaurant?

    Behind (north of) the restaurant.

Do you need reservations for a Tuesday dinner?

We always require a reservation for a table. You can also come in and have full menu dinner at the counter that’s first come first serve or at the bar where we serve drinks and appetizers.

Do they still check for Covid vaccine?

    They didn't ask me

I was fortunate to eat lunch at Musso one or two times a week for 20+ years and that of course ended with the pandemic. Tonight I will dine with you for the first time in over 2 years and I can hardly wait. Will you resume lunch service soon?

Good morning! Unfortunately considering the current state of things I do not see lunch coming back soon. We hope for the future to have the condition to welcome you back again at lunchtime! Thanks for being such a loyal customer!

Ambiance: Modern with dark tones (some parts of the restaurant are dark), leather chairs, emerald-colored booths. It's definitely stylish, classy with a mix of intimacy; there's some good energy here. The square shaped bar is stylish with marbled counter and chair stool seating; there's a couple TVs within view sitting in this section. There's also the main dining room as well as a partially covered patio. Good music. I've sat in the bar as well as the main dining room and find them both enjoyable. Service: Service has always been great the times I have been with everyone being professional, friendly and addressing needs easily from ownership, management, and all staff members. Food: A good mix of starters, fresh seafood, salads, steaks of course, various side dishes, and some other entrees. A few of my favorites include the wagyu meatball steak tartare jumbo shrimp cocktail chopped salad 6 oz petit filet 32 oz porterhouse mashed potato mac & cheese The steaks I've ordered have been cooked well to my liking and the meats have always been tender and seasoned well. The wagyu meatball is very tender with good flavor, the vodka sauce is not overpowering. Love the chopped salad with the red wine vinaigrette and the crunch from the crispy chickpeas. Mashed potatoes are creamy and very good. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is great and comes with three shrimps served with lemon, mustard aioli and cocktail sauce. Drinks: Great classic and off-menu cocktails, a couple beers, a couple non-alcoholic cocktails/mocktails, champagne and a wonderfully curated wine list. My ultimate favorite is the BLVD martini made with gin. It automatically comes with a half-filled side shaker effectively giving you an extra pour for a great value and experience. All of the food was delicious. I had the steak frites cooked perfectly to medium-rare/rare. The second steak frites was ordered rare, and it came out perfectly rare. The salmon was delicious and fresh. The lobster salad looked great, and I was told it was very good. First time here, I came on dine LA. I will absolutely come back here.

I was impressed with the upscale décor and overall "Men's Grill" steakhouse vibe. The food was generally good but nothing exceptional. We started off with the Caesar salad and the Boston clam chowder. Both were good but, again, nothing exceptional. We then ordered the steak frites and the seared salmon. The steak was perfectly cooked and came with the "stubs" of several russet potatoes. I guess we got the short end of the stick there. There was a really nice herbed mayonnaise sauce that came with the fries and another very good (pistachio?) sauce for the steak. My wife's salmon was decent and came with some broccolini and couscous. But neither dish entered the "fabulous" category. It was my birthday and we were presented with a lovely and very generous dessert of a fudge lava cake and crème Brule. Nice touch! The service was rather lackluster in that our waiter made several gaffs: he forgot about our drink order. He didn't offer fresh cracked pepper for the salad as he did for the table next to us. And he took away my plate before my wife was finished with her course. For a fine dining restaurant removing plates prematurely should never be done unless requested by the customer. But overall, for the price, this was an excellent value!

This place came up several times when I researched on great restaurants that have excellent vibes…read moreand great food. Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

The usually have a live band after 7pm and the sound in the resturant is amazing. It's like a recording studio. The staff was very friendly! The decor and ambiance was also impressive. Definitely swanky but down to earth vibes. I got the rasberry beret cocktail and it was different but fabulous. Not sure how else to describe it. It was refreshing. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a date night. There's also plenty of street parking when we went but there is also valet for $15.

We came to Matū for the Dinner for Two, and everything we were served was impeccable. The seasoning was spot on, the salt level was perfect, and every cut of meat was cooked beautifully. I'm a big fan of my steak on the rarer side, and Matū absolutely delivered. The braised beef cheek was probably the highlight of the night for me. It was unbelievably tender, rich, and one of the most memorable bites of the meal. After finishing the Dinner for Two, which really showcased the quality of the meat, we decided to split a cheesesteak since "that's what they're known for." When it arrived, it looked incredible. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended for me. The meat tasted oddly oily. I'm not sure if it was the cut, the preparation, or even the cheese, but it came across as heavy and greasy compared to the beautifully simple, clean flavors of the steak dinner. It was also underseasoned, and I found myself tasting the sesame seeds on the bread more than the filling itself. The chips were fresh and crunchy at first, but they lost their texture surprisingly quickly, so eat those immediately. Overall, I absolutely loved the steaks, sides, and cocktails, and I'll happily be back for those. But as for the cheesesteak? Once was more than enough.

Matu is a dream for meat lovers, with a menu centred entirely around Australian wagyu. Nothing…read moreshowcases that commitment better than the Matu dinner ($87 per person; minimum 2 persons), a multi-course meal that highlights different cuts of the cow in every single dish. Things begin with a 24-hour bone broth shooter, looking like a glass of gravy but tasting like concentrated umami. Rich, warm, and deeply comforting, it's remarkable how delicious it is despite containing only broth. The steak tartare follows with freshly chopped beef, egg yolk, and what the menu describes as a "Japanese accent," possibly togarashi. Whatever the seasoning blend is, it works beautifully. The tartare is incredibly flavourful despite its minimalist presentation. Thin, lightly toasted crostini accompany it without overpowering the beef, though I did ask for extra slices just to finish every bite. The eight-hour braised beef cheek was one of my favourite courses. So tender and moist that you could practically eat it with a spoon, the richness is balanced by a silky celeriac purée that ties everything together beautifully. It's the kind of dish that immediately makes you want another serving. Even their '47' salad leans heavily into the restaurant's beef-first philosophy, featuring more steak than greens. The 3-ounce centre-cut filet was impressively tender for such a lean cut, and although it arrived rarer than I'd typically order, it worked perfectly. At Matu, diners aren't asked how they'd like their steak cooked. The kitchen prepares it to the chef's specifications, trusting the quality of the beef and their technique. As for the romaine leaves underneath, they're coated in a signature dressing that tastes remarkably similar to Caesar, despite being made without dairy or eggs, then finished with a generous showering of Parmigiano. After all that beef, you'd think sharing a 12-ounce ribeye would feel excessive. Somehow, it didn't. The steak is prepared simply, allowing the quality of the wagyu to speak for itself, with crispy grilled broccolini providing a garlicky contrast alongside it. A small dish of salt is presented at the beginning of the meal, though Matu intentionally keeps the seasoning restrained. Personally, I appreciated the lighter touch and never felt the need to add more. Dessert arrives in the form of Scott's flourless chocolate cake ($12), dense and rich without being overly sweet beyond a dusting of powdered sugar. After an entire menu devoted to beef, I almost found myself jokingly wondering whether wagyu somehow made its way into dessert too.

However, I have to highlight the service that our waiter Paul gave us! WOW! You guys have a super star on your hands! From his warm, welcoming personality , to his witty remarks & stellar expertise on the menu and the different steak cuts you offer. Paul is truly a GEM! We truly enjoyed our experience last night! The entire vibe was through the roof for us! We also enjoyed the restaurant music, which in most establishments is not that great. So who ever was in charge of the music playlist last night, AWESOME JOB! To the Chef, everyone at the table throughly enjoyed our meals! the steaks were cooked perfectly & the sides were so delicious! I personally enjoyed the corn crème brulee. Only a genus could come up with that. We want to thank Steak 48 and most importantly Paul, for an outstanding job and amazing customer service! We can not wait to come back

Our waiter Derek was fantastic as well. Overall, this was one of the best experiences. I can't wait to come back!

With dishes from Shirley Brasserie available all day, it's the perfect spot to enjoy everything from light bites to seasonal plates, surrounded by the warmth of the historic fireplace and the charm of this iconic setting." -- from The Roosevelt Hotel's website. Shirley Brasserie, the restaurant referred to above, is also located in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (located next to The Lobby). The "iconic" they refer to is the fact that this hotel is historic -- it was built in 1926 during the Golden Era of Los Angeles architecture. It is named after Theodore Roosevelt. The first Academy Awards (Oscars) was held here in 1929. The hotel had its ups and downs since then but currently it looks beautiful and thriving. Take your out-of-state visiting friends/relatives to this place. Because this is a big part of "Hollywood". I recommend The Lobby to hang out after a long day's work or after a nice dinner nearby. This is where my sister and I went after our dinner at Musso and Frank. My sister ordered their Espresso Martini which was really good. I had a beer. Our server wasn't as warm as the ones during my visit in 2023. I think she was an introvert or a bit of a nervous person. But she did not seem potentially horrible. Restroom: I did not go to the restroom this time. I think there was a line. But I remember back in 2023 that you had to ask for a key or a code. Which is understandable for this area. Parking: I recommend the valet parking. If validated, the fee is really reasonable (I forgot how much they charged). We got ours validated because we ordered those drinks from The Lobby.
