This place was so good. I really loved the burger, the rosemary fries, and they have a great selection of drinks. My waiter was a foodie and he recommended a sour that was so good. There is both an indoor and somewhat outdoor area, so if you want something, a little quieter and high-end or more of a sports bar, they have both. I love the twinkly lights outside too. The service was fantastic. They were all efficient. I've ordered from here numerous times on Uber Eats- they do have good food. HOWEVER, my mom sister and I went to the actual restaurant yesterday and it was honestly a completely bizarre experience. The restaurant was basically empty, but the man who "served" us was so weird and rude... he was acting as if he was extremely busy and the way he was speaking to me from the moment I walked in was extremely rude and lowkey aggressive. I ordered sparkling rose and he brought me what looked like prosecco- I said is this rose? He literally acted like I came in there every day annoying him or something... it was truly strange. I made a reservation for an hour before they close and we walked over and were seated relatively quickly. We asked for a seat with a heater nearby but they were full and didn't have one available. We sat and ordered our food and then they informed us a table opened up near a heater! We were quickly switched. The outside seating is cute with lights and a patio cover over the area. It's relatively small though in general so I can imagine on a busy night how packed it could get. We started with calamari, pork belly pincho and tostadas. The calamari was good but small portions. The pork belly pincho was amazing it had some tamarind sauce which had a bbqish flavor and it was soo tender but crispy on the outside. I just wish it came with more but we ended up ordering 2 of them. The other people in our party got their food first and I was waiting for my steak to come out but it came out undercooked like almost raw inside so I politely asked if they could send it back to fix it. As I was waiting for them to bring it back out I tried some of the duck and omg I wish I ordered that instead. The steak was underwhelming but oh god everything else was just immaculate. Stopped by The Running Goose for a quick bite and it was such a good find. From the outside you could easily miss it, but once you walk in and head to the back patio, it's this cute outdoor space full of plants that gives total Italian vibe. A rare mimosa deal, kind/fun staff, intentional wine list, a "secret garden" vibe, and deep, unique flavors make this so much more than a "let's stop in before our show at the Pantages" meal (...but it's also great for that!) The owner, Armen, is an absolute gem of a man and one of our guests recognized him as the previous owner of Green Street Tavern in Pasadena, where they had so many wonderful memories. Easy 5 stars. I'm honestly shocked this place exists. The Running Goose is global comfort food done at a level you don't expect walking in. Started with the grilled brie -- wow. No idea what magic was going on there but it was insane. Then the smoked potatoes... that sauce was unreal, like spoon-it-straight addictive. The gambas came out sizzling with garlic, sweet cherry tomatoes, and perfectly cooked shrimp -- and that dipping bread... unreal, soaking up every drop. Then the mains... short rib and duck. Both ridiculous. The short rib was fall-apart tender with a sauce so good I was literally eating it by the spoon. The duck? Same story -- crispy, juicy, balanced, just dialed in. The service is very nice and personable, but we didn't enjoy the food tremendously. Went here before the pantages matinee on Saturday. The baked : roasted Bree was very exciting as it was sizzling as it came to the table, but I really didn't enjoy either of the toast which was cracker consistency or the apricot jam.. the flavors were just not a good mix for me. The brie was totally melted and really there was not much flavor there. I had the wild boar hash and it really just tasted like regular pork. There was nothing spectacular about it although it was well done and the egg was good. My dining companion had the Chilaquiles. I thought I'd long ago written a review for this, my favorite local restaurant. I usually get the gnocchi--very distinctive (I think made from corn instead of potato) and so flavorful. But everything we've had here is interesting and delicious. We love the gazpacho, cod churros, baked brie, their array of tostadas, and much else. My friend and I came here for dinner before going to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Hollywood Pantages Theater. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that we ended up here for dinner. Everything, and I do mean everything, was so freaking delicious! The baked brie had that quintessential velvety texture while the apricot compote worked well to enhance and complement the flavors. The smoked beet quesadilla was described as cactus tortillas filled with queso, parm, and beets, topped with radishes and pepitas, and laid on a bed of basil crema - intriguing to say the least. And let me tell you, the dish was fantastic! The smoked beets were perfectly tender and paired well with the cheese and basil crema. And of course I can't live without spice so I added their housemade habanero sauce as a finishing touch. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was first-class, and the patio decor and ambiance made a splendid backdrop for our night out. STAY AWAY!!!! My friend and I came to The Running Goose for Sunday lunch after an emotionally difficult day trying to rescue a dog from a Los Angeles kill shelter. We enjoyed our meal and had already ordered lunch and wine. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only a few tables occupied, and toward the end of our lunch we waited over 20 minutes trying to order two final glasses of wine and get our check. After unsuccessfully trying to make eye contact, I simply motioned with my finger for the owner to come over. Instead of taking our order, he approached our table and loudly reprimanded me, saying, "Don't you ever put up your finger like that and ask me to come over to the table again." My friend was shocked and confused, thinking perhaps he was upset about her dog, who was quietly sleeping in a stroller. We were both stunned by how aggressive and hostile his tone was, especially considering we had been pleasant customers and already spent around $150. At that point, we should have just paid and left, but we ordered the final two glasses of wine. The owner never returned to our table, instead sending his wife over with the check. The entire experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect. Hospitality isn't just about serving food, it's about how you treat people. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking here. We won't be returning, and with SO many wonderful restaurants in Hollywood, I absolutely DO NOT recommend The Running Goose based on our experience. read more

I am saddened to be writing this review as I was so excited to find a new brunch spot within walking distance from my home. After a very sad morning filled with family loss, my friend and I decided to go out to relax and try to enjoy the day. After ordering 6 glasses of wine, 2 entrees and a side of protein, I would have hoped for less aggressive treatment by the owner. After not being attended to for about 20+ minutes, my friend smiled and beckoned our server (owner)over to order another round of drinks. The owner then berates her and humiliated her publicly. The service is always warm and attentive, and if you let them know that you're going to the Pantages, they do everything they can to get you there in plenty of time. (It's an easy walking distance to the Pantages and parking at or across from the restaurant is half the cost of parking on Vine.) The patio is beautiful and amazingly quiet for being so close to Cahuenga. The food is fresh, beautifully seasoned, and delicious. The menu is varied enough that it has options for vegetarians and vegans too.I've never been anything less than delighted with anything I've ordered. We were greeted by either the owner or manager because he was very knowledgeable on where all the ingredients were sourced and even allowed us to order from the dinner menu during lunch. The saffron aioli complimented the fishy taste of the churros. The tomatoes and shrimp in the Gambas were fresh and juicy. The duck was tender and the rupini side was flavorful. The braised short rib hidden under the fresh herbs and cheese made a great dip for the corn tortilla. The Horchata Creme Brule was sweet, creamy, and tart. I came during lunch on a Saturday and it was not too busy. It's a hidden restaurant that I happen to find when looking for spots to eat before a show at the Pantages. I highly recommend coming here. The atmosphere is quiet, with a really nice outdoor spaced patio. We tried their Brie bread, lamp chops, burgers, and chilaquiles. All fantastic! Their lamp chops are appetizers so expect a small size but they were made very well with delicious sauces. Those who ordered the burgers really enjoyed the taste and how it was cooked, fries are fantastic. I had the chilaquiles, good portion and tons of short rib. A great combo! I had a bad experience here. Perhaps it's a one time bad experience and I hope they figure it out. I ordered a ribeye medium rare. It came out well done and grey. I requested it to be more in line with medium rare and I was told that because the rib eye was such a thin cut they couldn't cook it medium rare. So they returned me a blue steak completely rare. Then I was told how I was wrong and thin cuts can't be made medium rare. At the end I just didn't eat anything and I paid $45 for inept cooking.
