Went here with my parents and partner on Saturday around 11AM, and I have both good and bad things to say. Sadly, our experience started off very poorly. The bad: The host was extremely unprofessional and un-accommodating of my family's request. She has black hair with a streak of grey/silver hair I believe. While we had 2 different 2 person reservations, we asked if we could sit together since I don't get to see my parents often now that I live out of state and it was my birthday. We understand this isn't a request that can be always accommodated, but we were willing to wait to sit together. The host said this was not possible and we accepted sitting at 2 different tables. When my parents were sat, we noticed an empty table next to them. My father then asked the host if we could move and she refused, saying she isn't sure if rid totally sanitized and it would take a very long time for it to be cleaned by staff. She then walked away from us while rolling her eyes and cussing under her breath while walking right past my table. Even my father noticed this!! We understood, but a minute later a staff came and fully cleaned the table. Our waitress came to introduce herself and we requested to be moved once more, and she said of course and had us move immediately to be next to my parents :) Big shoutout to her! Again, I'd understand if the restaurant was busy and packed, but after us I saw no one sat at the 2 person table we were initially sitting at and the entire restaurant was slowly emptying out with not many new parties coming in... The host seemed to have extreme anger issues and lack of professionalism that I would expect from someone who knows the availability of tables. Now, for the good: The restaurant itself is amazing with great ambiance. I want to thank our awesome waitress and other people working at the restaurant, truly everyone else was great! They were funny, welcoming, and very patient. The food was tasty and we loved the lemonades we ordered. I recommend the pastrami dish from their brunch menu :) I would definitely recommend coming here, but the host at the front who is supposed to "welcome" guests is clearly not doing her job well. It truly left a sour taste in my mouth and I'd likely turn back from the restaurant if I saw her as the host again. read more

If you are going to host a wedding at your establishment, do us a favor and close down the restaurant. I have been coming to Lemon Grove for pre show dinners and recommended this place to friends and family because I always had a good experience and the food, drinks, and service have been great. This last time was an unfortunate exception. I brought my sister and brother in law for their first time here before seeing Phantom of the Opera. Before entering the building we were asked if we were headed to Lemon Grove and if we had a reservation. Soon as we walk into the door, same question. Yes we did have a reservation. After taking the elevator upstairs, we were approached AGAIN by a man (towering over me and standing really close in an intimidating way) asking AGAIN if we are indeed here for Lemon Grove and if we have a reservation. He informed us that we was asking only because there was a wedding on the property. I did not appreciate being interrogated by three individuals asking if we had a reservation. And then we had to check in with TWO hostess. When we checked in with what I assume is the main hostess for Lemon Grove, I gave her my name and it took a while for us to be seated. We're just standing there waiting. Do you not believe we have a reservation? By the time the interrogations were over and our reservation was finally confirmed, we were seated. I will say that one pleasant part of the evening was our server. She had been my server when I brought my parents here (months ago) and she still remembered me. That was a nice touch. Our server was great and accommodating! No issues with her at all! I had ordered the steak frites which tasted great and was cooked to my liking. My brother in law ordered the same thing and said the fries were really good! By the time I had a few fries left on my plate, I was asked by someone who wasn't our server if I was done. I said no I am still working on it. After a couple of more fries, and barely five minutes later, I was asked AGAIN by a different person if I was done. Clearly y'all wanted to rush us out of there so I said yes I'm done (so I wouldn't be bothered again). When we finally left, the last man who asked us if we had a reservation, pointed us towards the direction of the elevator. Sir, I am not blind I know where I am going. I can see the exit. I had no intention of crashing the wedding. From the interrogations, to being rushed out of the restaurant, I will never come back here again. In the future, close down the restaurant if you are hosting a wedding. You are already double dipping by making money off the wedding and regular restaurant patrons, but it's not fair to regular customers being treated the way we were because of an event. Lastly, your bartender sucks at making an Old Fashioned. Who makes an Old Fashioned with crushed ice? It's one large ice cube. And when you do screw up, don't strain the watered down Old Fashioned into a new glass with a large ice cube. Make a new one...properly. read more

I was invited to Lemon Grove for my cousin's birthday dinner, and my first impression was how cute the space is. The rooftop setting has a great atmosphere and makes for a fun place to celebrate a special occasion. We used valet parking, but there is also street parking and paid public parking nearby. Since we were a large group, we got to try a good portion of the menu, and honestly, everything we ordered was good. The prices were fair as well, especially considering the location and rooftop experience. The reason I'm taking off a star is the service toward the end of the evening. About 30 minutes before closing, our server kept returning to the table, and we started to feel rushed. He also made a few sarcastic comments that seemed intended as jokes, but they didn't come across that way to our group. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and value were all great. I would definitely consider coming back, but I hope the end-of-service experience is handled a little differently next time. read more

It is located on a rooftop of a hotel so it can be a little bit pricey but it's also located in Hollywood but the food is delicious and they have great cocktails and mocktails! Been here twice but the service the second time wasn't as great as the first time. It seemed as if the server didn't really checked in on us once our food arrived. With that said, food was amazing! The food was delicious, and I really enjoyed eating outside near the garden area. I would definitely visit again. The hummus was phenomenal, and the ricotta agnolotti was absolutely delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the apple cake dessert, but overall, the food was really good. Service was attentive, and the restrooms were exceptionally clean and even smelled amazing. The only negative experience was with the valet service. When we first arrived, the valet told us it would be around $16. After we finished at the Pantages and walked back to The Aster, which is directly below the restaurant, we were told the valet fee was $30 (usually around $50 without validation). We spoke up and explained that the person who parked our car had quoted us around $16. While we were trying to discuss the price inconsistency with the valet cashier, I unknowingly had my phone near the card reader and was charged the full $30. Her response was, "Oh, sorry, you already paid." We walked away frustrated because of the attitude and lack of customer service in that moment. She didn't offer to refund the difference or reverse the transaction. The money itself isn't the issue--it's the principle. If a customer is given a specific price by staff, that price should be honored. I would suggest that management make sure all valet staff are on the same page regarding pricing so situations like this don't happen. Aside from the valet issue, we had a really enjoyable experience and would happily return for the food and atmosphere. read more

I made a reservation for Lemon Grove on a Saturday at 1:15 PM and was seated around 1:30. Despite being short-staffed, the host was absolutely fantastic. He went above and beyond, helping clear tables, bringing us water, and making sure guests were taken care of while the restaurant was clearly stretched thin. After being seated, we waited quite a while for our server. I eventually noticed what I believe was a manager stop by our table to check on us and ask if we had any questions. Since we had been ready to order for some time, I asked if we could simply place our order with her. She was delightful, helpful, and very accommodating. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, breakfast potatoes, dinosaur kale salad, chicken sandwich, and burger. Everything was flavorful and delicious, but the burger was definitely my favorite. Combined with the beautiful weather and atmosphere, it made for a very enjoyable brunch. The biggest downside was the service speed. Our waiter was incredibly kind, but because the restaurant appeared to be understaffed, he was rarely able to stop by. There were long waits between ordering, receiving food, and getting assistance throughout the meal. It never felt like poor service from the staff themselves--it felt more like a staffing issue. towards the end, I had to remind the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday (it was in my notes, and two people in person were also told, but the waiter maybe forgot). When the tab came, I had to remind the waiter that I had already provided payment at the time of arrival. The delays continued when we were leaving. We needed parking validation and waited about 5-10 minutes because the host had stepped away and there was no one else available to assist. By the time we left, parking had cost us $33 for roughly 2.5 hours. Overall, the food, atmosphere, host, and manager were excellent, and the staff who were there worked hard under difficult circumstances. Had staffing been planned a little better, I suspect this would have been an easy 5-star experience and our visit would have taken closer to an hour or hour and a half instead of stretching much longer. Hopefully management addresses the staffing challenges, because the restaurant itself is definitely worth visiting. read more

I went here yesterday at 5:00 PM to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately, it ended up being a really disappointing experience. We were the first customers there, and I ordered the cacio e pepe with a side of chicken. When the dish came out, the chicken was raw. I cut into it to double check, and it was clearly pink inside. I let our server know, and she was kind and took it back right away. What was frustrating, though, was how it was handled. Instead of making a fresh portion, it seemed like the same piece of chicken was just put back on the grill and returned to me. It came back extremely overcooked, dry, and completely inedible. Beyond that, it was concerning from a food safety standpoint that the same piece of chicken was reused after being served and handled. They did remove the cost of the chicken, which I appreciate, but we still paid around $120 for the rest of the meal. Given the situation--especially since this was meant to be a birthday dinner--the overall experience did not feel worth it. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously. read more

Excellent service and beautiful rooftop views! My go to drink has been the Cactus Flower; it can be a bit too sweet, but you can ask the server to adjust it a bit with a little more mezcal! I usually order the burrata caprese because it is flavorful and light and a great start to dinner. I love Thai food, so I usually order the lemon pasta, which has nothing to do with a lemon citrus flavor, by the way! One time I added chicken to this pasta dish and didn't enjoy it as much as the pasta itself. Their dessert menu hasn't been updated so ask your server for dessert options. Lemon Grove was a great surprise. I booked it simply because it was near the Pantages Theatre, and I needed convenience. When I arrived, I was surprised that the restaurant is located on the rooftop! It was a combination of an elegant and fun vibe along with the music and the 2 large bars. One bar is out in the open and the second one is in the covered area of the restaurant. So you can sit out and enjoy the sunny weather and views, or you can sit at the covered part of the restaurant. As you enter you will also see a few lemon trees, plants and herbs. You also get a great view of the city. The food choices are unique like the pasta I ordered with a lemon cream sauce. The portions are small, but the food is delicious. Great rooftop restaurant option especially when going to the Pantages to watch a show. We had a 615pm reservation for an 8pm show so we were not rushed. They have valet for $30 but also several parking lots within the area. Loved the vibe. Located on the 6th floor in a hotel called The Asher. Indoor and outdoor seating. There was a bar adjacent to the restaurant so had good music to listen to without it being too loud. We ordered the burrata for our appetizer which was a great start with some cocktails and then wanted to try their signature lemon pasta. I was apprehensive at first as it just didn't sound like lemon and pasta were a great combination. Surprised how good it tasted and it was a very pretty plate. Also got the short rib rigatoni which I actually liked much better though. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. Life always presents unique circumstances and synchronicity. It is hard to explain, but one should simply enjoy. Case in point, my friend and I were going to see Spamalot at the Pantages Theatre, so I wanted to find a restaurant for lunch walking distance before the matinee. We ended up going to Lemon Grove at the Astor hotel, which was an incredible experience. I had never heard of this joint prior to dining there. After posting my review and pictures, I got a very nice response from the manager on Monday and then on Tuesday two very dear friends who are twins invited me to their birthday party that Friday night at the Lemon Grove where one of the sister's daughters is the DJ. We had half of the entire roof for a great party with wonderful friends meeting new people, some DJing and dancing and a marvelous server who remembered not only my name from the prior Sunday, but also that I was gluten intolerant and brought me a menu I could select from while she was taking care of over 50 people. And as you can tell I am so shy and demure to boot. She was fantastic, and the food I ordered: GF Lemon Pasta and 1/2 dozen oysters while sharing the Brussels Sprouts, were all superb. The GF lemon pasta in a pesto sauce did not have any chance to avoid my boca and I left no penne unturned nor uneated. This review is for brunch only. Lemon Grove is such a vibe. The rooftop views are incredible. Seriously, check out the photos other Yelpers have posted. The views are iconic LA, u can literally see the Hollywood sign and Capitol Records Tower while sipping your mimosa. The whole place hits that perfect balance between laid back and stylish. It's ideal for lazy weekends when you want to brunch somewhere cute without going full "dress to impress," but also not roll up in diner casual. The drinks are spot on, the bar team knows what they're doing. And the food is so good. Every dish we ordered hit the mark. This is exactly the kind of brunch that makes staying disciplined all week worth it, just so you can go all in come Saturday or Sunday. Every bite was flavorful and totally satisfying. Came to see another Pantages play and typically eat at Jemmas downstairs but they were closed for an event, so perfect time to try Lemon Grove. Made a reservation online and quickly sat indoors. Outside patio is very pretty but it was a little cold out so opted for inside seating. Staff were friendly, menu is straightforward. Ordered the Cactus Flower and Grow a Pear - both delicious. For an appetizer we ordered the aster meatballs, bread and sauce were great, I'm not the biggest meatball fan though. For entrees we got the half roasted chicken and the Lemon pasta. Big portion for the chicken, enough for leftovers. Lemon pasta was good, more of a curry flavor/ Thai inspired Italian dish - definitely one to try. Sadly too full for dessert. My significant other and I went with friends to a show at the Pantages and we were looking for a restaurant to visit before the show. So happy that we found the Lemon Grove! The restaurant is on top of the Aster Hotel. The rooftop has a bar area, and then the restaurant area which has indoor and outdoor seating available. There are also sofas and chairs outside that are available if a special event is not taking place. Because of the time of year, we opted for indoor seating in case it was super hot outside. The ambiance is indoor/outdoor, which I love. The drinks and food were great. I had what I am personally calling "The World Famous Lemon Pasta"...it was so delicious and I can't wait to get it again. Our server mentioned it was more like a curry rather than a lemon sauce, which I assume is because a lot of people may not be familiar with Tom Kha. It was absolutely delicious. After we finished our dinner, we had some time to kill and enjoyed drinks sitting in the outdoor lounge area. The views are great and the vibe is chill. I loved the view of the Capitol Records tower, as it is an old workplace of mine. Lots of Hollywood nostalgia viewable from the rooftop. Last night, my family and I visited the bar and lounge area of this business. Initially, I was excited about returning because I really enjoyed the music, location, and overall ambiance. Unfortunately, our experience at the end of the evening completely changed my impression of the place. As the venue was preparing to close, a tall security guard approached our table and informed us that they would be closing in 10 minutes. My sister politely responded, "Sounds good," but for some reason, the security guard interpreted her response as dismissive and became confrontational. We tried to explain that "sounds good" was simply an acknowledgment and was not intended to be rude or disrespectful. Rather than de-escalating the situation, the security guard became increasingly defensive and aggressive. He raised his voice, spoke to our group in an unprofessional manner, and made racial comments that were not necessary. At one point, his actions felt so aggressive that it seemed as though he was attempting to provoke physical confrontation. This is the type of business that prides itself on providing an upscale experience but the customer service felt other wise. I hope management reevaluates the third-party security company they partner with and ensures that security personnel represent the same level of professionalism as the rest of the establishment. read more

The steak was tender with a flavorful crust from high sear. The Ricotta Toast ($20) was crispy with blistered peaches that added a sweet flavor to the creamy ricotta. What a beautiful restaurant! Came in for brunch to celebrate my birthday and had a lovely experience. Very beautiful decor and comfortable booth seating. Beautiful outdoor patios. Lemon trees are everywhere! Very spacious but still very cozy. And Jessica took care of us and did a fabulous job. Bethany was also very very helpful. She was all smiles. Lovely brunch menu. We started with the crispy brussels sprouts and they were delicious. I had a nice glass of wine then had the French rolled omelette and it was just delicious. The Boursin cheese really kicks it up a notch! Very creamy. I asked for my breakfast potatoes to be a little crispy and they were perfect. He ordered the Croque madame and it was a nice big portion and very tasty. Well, you're going to the Pantages and ya' gotta eat somewhere, y'know? This place is as good as many others, and seems to stick around in a nabe where restaurants have notoriously short lives. It's pretty enough, and the I'll call it Italian Adjacent menu is okay. The indoor/outdoor setting is exceptionally comfortable. I think my wife and I were the first table of the day, very quiet. I ordered the burger and my wife had the basic breakfast, also ordered a side of fries. I love the fries, they are seasoned well and hot the whole time. The burger was fantastic, but they need a better bun, the top bun is too dense. We decided to visit for brunch and we're not disappointed. We had a lovely rooftop experience with a nice atmosphere and very helpful staff. There are numerous lemon trees around the restaurant so you don't forget where you are, lol. Really enjoyed our meal here, the food was excellent and the staff was very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I look forward to coming back again sometime soon. read more
