We are so grateful to Muth Roofing for the excellent work they have done on our 1931 house over the years. In 2001, we hired Arrow Roofing because they weren't too expensive. After several years of replastering and repainting the third floor after leaks, none of which were fixed permanently by Arrow, we paid Muth thousands of dollars to fix all the roof problems and install new gutters, gutter covers and downspouts. No more problems! A few weeks ago, they replaced our roof and did a terrific job. I was especially impressed, during the estimate process, that Chad Muth noticed nail pops and cracks on our finished third floor ceiling and realized they were a sign of poor ventilation. He climbed into the insulation-filled parts of our attic to diagnose the problem and come up with a solution. The poor ventilation is most likely the reason our shingles failed prematurely. They sent over an energetic crew of 5 who got the job done in two long days. They were polite, the crew boss spoke English, and they did a good job cleaning up. During the job, Chad or one of the other supervisors popped over frequently to check on the progress of the job, and Chad came over afterwards to discuss our 50-year transferable warranty and make sure everything was okay. I needed new gutters. Got a qoute from muth. In mid May agreed to the price and paid 50% down. 3rd week of July i get a call from James the sales person that there will be an additional charge of $825.00. The work finally got done in August. Not a happy customer. Asked to have owner Chad muth call me. Never heard from him. This was just a small fraction of miss information and problems. I would have left no stars. Wow what a scam. We have a broken gutter joint by our 2nd floor roof/gutter that needed repairing. We had 3 other companies come by to assess the issue to compare quotes. Muth is the ONLY company that didn't even bother to get up to see what the issue is. Completely inspected our gutters from the ground. After walking around the outside of our house on the ground, they suggested that we need to rip out our entire gutter system, half the roof and build a ventilation system for $50k. I can't imagine anyone would trust a roofing company that does all their assessment from the ground. Just mind-blowing. read more

Muth & Company put a new roof on my house and refuses to fix the problems they caused. They cut gaps in the decking at the peak, realized their mistake, and then just covered the gaps with shingles without replacing the wood they cut out. They left a bathroom ceiling vent unconnected to its roof vent, causing all of the moisture from the bathroom to vent into the attic instead of outside. They installed only half a ventilation system (the exhaust half), claiming they have no obligation to meet the building code requirement of making sure the other half of the ventilation (intake air) was supplied by soffit/eave vents. My soffit vents were blocked. The Muth warranty requires them to comply with the building code. The holes in the roof, the bathroom venting into the attic, and the blocked soffit vents caused black mold to grow in my attic. When I made a warranty claim, Muth wanted me to pay for the corrections. I did--with other companies. Muth won't reimburse me under their supposed "ironclad guarantees." I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Muth denied all responsibility and told the BBB that it never complies with the building code intake ventilation laws. If you have a Muth roof, you might want to check your attic for mold and soffit vents for blockage. read more

So they saw my Yelp review and admitted they put in the wrong gabel. Offered to correct and apologized. After the new gabel arrived they put it in and caulked the holes. Very polite guys doing the work and changed my view of the company. read more

We had a great experience with Muth & Company Roofing for our roof replacement project. Our sales contact was Kelly, He was excellent to work with all the way through the process. Regarding the demo, the crew took great care to protect my house and property while removing the old roof. They made sure all old materials went into the dumpster as soon they were removed from the house. I was impressed with the install crew too: Right tool for the right job by using a crane to lift the new materials onto my roof VS running them all up manually. They were very efficient and worked in pairs as they put on the new roof. Job was completed in one long day which impressed me as i thought for sure it would take more than a day to complete. The GAF Timberline UHDZ shingle with the extra shadow line is a huge improvement from my old shingle. Really makes my house pop. We love the improved curb appeal of our house with the new roof. The crew made sure to clean up before the project was completed and Brian our project manager even did touch up painting for me. Hard to tell they were even here! Kelly was amazing to work with for installing a new roof for our covered bridge on our family farm. We appreciated the care and professionalism to consider and help choose materials that reflected the age and restoration of the bridge. We'd have Muth Co work on another family treasure again! This company does not do gutter repairs. I called them about a gutter leaking at the corner of my house and at my appointment I was told that I would have to replace the gutters ON THE ENTIRE HOUSE in order to fix the leak. The reason: "Your gutters are old." No inspection, nothing. My gutters are fine except for the leak on ONE corner. Their website states that they do gutter repairs but they obviously do not. On their website I told the chat representative what happened and she said I would be contacted by the company but they never called. Also, my negative review was removed from their website. Just my opinion but I suspect all the positive reviews are fake. I would not recommend this company. read more

I bought a new house and the gutters were clogged as any rain would be a waterfall over them. I had Muth come out to clean out the gutters and install gutter guards for the whole house. An expensive job. THEY INSTALLED THE GUARDS OVER THE CLOGGED GUTTERS! THEY DID NOT CLEAN THE GUTTER FIRST! I happened to be home at the next heavy rain and saw the same waterfall over the gutters. A manager at Muth came over the next day and he was great. Very nice and apologetic that his crew did not clean out the clogged gutters first. Not sure how this could even happen. They almost had to push down the piles of leaves to install the guards. You can't get any lower than that for a gutter company. The manager was great and fixed it himself. For the company, this is one bad mistake. read more

Muth gave the highest estimate of three bids, but we chose them anyway for several reasons. As we did our due diligence, we could find no serious blemishes in any business review forum. We had done a separate investigation on the shingles themselves as we considered doing the labor ourselves, so when the Muth bid included a higher grade shingle from one of the top two manufacturers, we understood the value in the materials Muth included in their proposal. Although it added overhead, Muth has separate sales, labor, and supervisory personnel. This organizational design keeps more sets of eyes on doing a quality job. For our home, the cost came out to about $10 per week to protect our home for the next 20+ years. We could have gone with a bid that was 20% cheaper, but for that $2 more per week, we expect to defer our next roof decision for 5-10 years longer than the cheaper competing proposal. Muth was more expensive, but is the better value in our opinion. Most families will own a home roughly between the ages of 25 and 85. With high-quality materials and workmanship, it is possible to cover that time span with three roofing jobs in a lifetime. With most cheaper roofing companies and shingles, one would need at least four roofs to span those six decades. We have had a Muth roof for over three problem-free years. We are confident they would respond to any problem if we ever have a warranty issue and we have no reservations using them again or recommending them. read more

I recently inquired to have Muth come out and inspect my roof after recent storm as I had shingles torn off. Initially they quickly responded and said someone would be out the day I talked to them or the day after. Never heard from them and called back and left a VM 4 days later and was never returned. Nonetheless, a competitor (Able) was contacted and the next morning they came out and repaired my roof in order to prevent further damage given the rains we have been having. read more

I definitely want to give credit where credit is due. My husband called the office yesterday to make certain we were on the schedule for today (Tuesday). He was out of town, so he messaged me saying they would be here sometime around 9. Today the work crew showed up promptly at 9 am sharp. They were courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. They were excellent in every way. They finished the job within the stated time frame and at the exact estimated cost. It really is too bad that there were so many mishaps within the office that really made a bad impression on the business as a whole. We recently move in to a 100+ year old house with a aged roof and box gutters which, as it turned out, needed to be replaced. Replacing box gutters is no small task. Muth replaced the roof on our previous home (great job) and after getting multiple estimates we contracted with Muth for the replacement of the roof and box gutters on our new historic home. Kelly was responsive and kept us informed throughout the process. Tony and his crew were prompt, efficient and responsive. This type of work is expensive but it helps to know it was done right and with a strong guarantee. A good company which does good work and preserved the historical features of our home. read more

I've used Muth for 3 repairs on my roof over the last 2 years (storm damage each time) and they have been stellar. Competitively priced, professional and thorough. Today, they came out to give me an estimate to replace a few shingles that blew off last week (I couldn't tell from where but found the shingles in my yard). The guy climbed on the roof, took photos with his iPad, climbed down and showed me the photos. His estimate was the least expensive and he offered to nail the shingles back up that I found in the yard as a temporary fix (for free) until they could get new shingles here and fix it permanently in a couple of days. Then he told me that for only $25 more, I could get a full roof inspection, gutters cleaned, re-seal all flashings, re-nail gutter spikes, etc. Even with the extra $25, it was STILL less than other estimates. read more

I called 2 roofing companies to look at my attic fan which quit working. Carl from Muth was the first to come out. After inspecting my roof from the outside, he gave me an estimate of $300 to replace the fan, with me providing the fan and shingles. A few other extra things like gutter clean up were included. I agreed to have it done and gave them a 50% deposit which they said was standard. The second company came out and the first thing they said was I did not need an attic fan at all because my roof has ridge and soffit vents. They went up to my attic to confirm the vents were unblocked which they were. Because of this conflicting advice, I asked a contractor friend and my architect neighbor and researched the internet and sure enough, this 2nd company was correct: you're not supposed to mix different types of roof ventilation, i.e. either have the fan or have the ridge/soffit vents, not both. Muth's quote was based on a misguided premise. Even though I asked about replacing the attic fan, they should have known better and advised me otherwise just like this other company did. Having lost confidence in them, I called Muth to cancel the work order and ask for a refund of my deposit. However, they refused to give me a full refund. They want to charge me a cancellation fee(!) because of "expenses we incurred." I'm not sure what those expenses would be since the estimate was supposed to be free and they have not even scheduled the actual work yet. Carl told me on the day he came out that someone from Muth would call me within 2-3 days to schedule the work but I did not hear from them until about 2 weeks after. Muth says Carl noted on his estimate that he did not agree with replacing the fan even though that's what he quoted me. This is a complete lie and I have a copy of the estimate to prove it. He never said anything about it to me. He didn't even go to my attic. He also didn't mention about a cancellation fee (Muth says it's in the contract which Carl emailed me after he left). Stay away from this company. They are incompetent and they lie! [Follow up: Muth eventually refunded the cancellation fee but only after Angies List intervened. The owner, Gina Muth, in her response essentially dismissed my account as made up and wrote that I "was not worth it." Really professional!] read more
