I can't say enough about MVP Chiropractic, Dr. Carey, and their staff. I've had chronic back issues for at least 16 years and I've seen or have been to at least 4 to 5 different chiropractic offices and doctors. Each time I changed was for a particular reason but one common reason was that I was tired of the doctors that I was seeing spending only 3 to 5 minutes with me and sending me out the door. For those of you who can relate to this you know it can become very frustrating. With not much time being spent on my treatments I used to think that if my back was hurting I'd get a few adjustments and be done with it until the next issue arose. Unfortunately, I was never educated enough to realize that one's back pain doesn't get fixed, it gets maintained. Maintaining your back issues is a commitment just like going to the gym and staying fit and thanks to MVP I finally learned this. I want to relate a great experience I have had with Dr. Shelby Preston at the New Lenox MVP. I am into weightlifting, and I injured my back after (not during) a workout. The pain was absolutely disabling--I have never felt anything like it before. I was afraid to get up in the morning because the pain was worse then and I could hardly lift my leg far enough to even get into a pair of pants. Dr. Shelby is such a friendly and communicative person, she made the recovery much easier than it could have been. She evaluated me, treated the problem in the office, and gave me simple but very do-able exercises to do at home. As I progressed, she changed the exercises every time I went because she gave the impression of knowing exactly what to do. I followed the instructions she gave me, and I am amazed that in about a month, I am completely pain-free! As bad as it was at first, I thought it would take forever to get better, or even that it might not, because so many people have chronic back problems. Dr. Shelby combines compassion, communication and medical knowledge in such a way that she inspires complete confidence. I have 2 bulging discs in my lower back, terrible sciatic pain in my right leg all the way into my foot. I've seen several doctors, tried physical therapy, pain pills, even had steroidal injections in my spine. I've also seen 2 different chiropractors previously with not much success. I found MVP through an old friend and have had 2 visits with Dr. Carey - I'm really starting to feel better. The tension in my back is much less, as is the sciatic pain. Dr. Carey is the 1st Dr. I've seen who actually explained what's wrong and why and what I need to do to get better. I had an MRI done with my Ortho Dr so I brought the results to Dr Carey - she made copies and showed me the pictures and where my problems are. My ortho doc didn't even bother to do that! Dr. Carey takes the time to explain and individualize treatment, instead of the typical "get him on the table, crack him and onto the next" treatment from your average chiropractor. I visited MVP Chiropractic for their experience and reputation for treating all kinds of people and generating a success driven plan for each individual's therapy results. Dr. Carey worked with my spine and body to release any stuck spots in my body. A few weeks later I visited Doris for a post run massage and I found there were many more sore areas in my legs that I was not even sensing. So the massage really helped in that regard. I was skeptical that massage could really change my speed or running time, however by the following night I ran at three quarters the speedI had previously with little stiffness and no discomfort. MVP Chiropractic is absolutely incredible! The staff is warm and accommodating, the office ambiance is therapeutic and inviting, and Dr. Veerman is a miracle working God send. I have had substantial pain in my knee for weeks and within the first visit it already feels worlds better. Dr. Michael Veerman is a fantastic doctor! He is very friendly, knowledgable, and compassionate. I sit at a desk all day, and he not only treated my back pain, but told me about simple ways to set up my workspace to prevent the pain from coming back. He also gives me tips and advice about living a healthy lifestyle, and provides me with excersice tips that I can use at home or at the gym to strengthen certain muscles to help prevent my back pain. Finally found a doctor and message therapist that actually has helped me resolve my neuropathy problem. Went to several different doctors and nobody actually took the time to try and resolve my symptoms. Dr. Veerman takes a holistic approach and tries all types of treatments and exercises for your total well being The recently added homeopathic Dr. Smitherman has since been extremely informative on my Charcot Marie Tooth problem. I've been going here for several months now after my third neck surgery, and the care you receive here beats all the big PT places I've ever been to! You receive excellent one on one care, you never feel rushed and the doctors really care about you. They listen and really want to fix you, not just treat you for the required 8 visits, and send you on your way. After years of going to other places, I will never go anywhere else! I went to see Dr. Emery Pitcel at MVP. He was very professional and after assessing me, he immediately worked out a plan to improve my sciatic pain. I really liked that he combined the chiropractic adjustments with physical therapy stretches and exercises. This allowed me to be a part and help in the healing process at home. Dr. Mike is the best! I had been experiencing lower back pain for over a year before seeing the team at MVP. I came to Dr. Pitcel in serious pain, barely able to walk, and after a few stretches and adjustments I was able to move with far less pain. Over the course of a few weeks he helped to heal my back and gave me exercises that have helped to keep my back feeling healthy. I also love that you can make an appointment on line, which comes in handy if one hurts their back and wakes up in pain at 3am in the morning.
