Good if not average sports bar. In Sycamore it's kind of limited. MVP is about as good as you can get for the most part. Cocktails are okay and not too expensive. The food is mostly forgettable but has some healthy options. After getting some food earlier, we came here. It was a good thing because there's not that much. The drinks are the main reason. It's about $5 for the cheapest cocktail. They have a decent amount of liquor. Not as much to choose from as many bars. Other than that, there's plenty of beers in cans and a few local beers on tap. As for the food, it's not impressive. We got the Hummus Plate. It's about $8 for a little side cup of hummus, and some pitas and vegetables for dipping. The hummus seemed to be from out of a tub. MVP Sports Bar showed true MVP qualities during our visit last night! Their staff was polite and helpful. I'm not a local and I was attending a cornhole tournament so I didn't know what to expect. The space felt pretty clean for a local watering hole, but then I realized I was at a restaurant. They do things like make their Ranch dressing fresh, hand dip their chicken tenders, make the tastiest warm, bacon potato salad as a side without an up charge and even have high quality rolls and wraps. The team made great suggestions! We were so impressed and honestly surprised that this low key "joint" had so much going for it. I can guarantee when we pass through Sycamore again that we will make a stop for some quality bites. You should probably make a stop too. read more

Came here after me and a few of my classmates passed our nursing final. We got the special of the day, which was 50 cent wings. They were delicious! My friend got the cheese curds, which had velveeta in them? They were good but I felt that the sauce was too much for them. We even got some apple pie shots! New owners with no manners. We've attended MVPs for I believe 20 years now and man is it terrible. Left after our lunch feeling disappointed and disrespected. The service was slow... molasses slow. The food was overcooked and whatever new cheese is being used was terrible. New owner arrived, did not help our server (who was clearly overwhelmed), instead proceeded to just chat away for over 20 minutes with another table. Didn't say hi, ask how everything is going or even thanks for coming when we left. We could have overlooked the garbage service but instead decided something needs to be said. Nice small town restaurant in the downtown area. They offer rooftop seating but decided to stay inside the building during our experience. Appetizers were delicious, had an order of Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara dipping sauce on the side. The main entree was a chicken wrap served with fries as the side. Definitely loved the ambiance this place had, was surrounded by great wait staff that consistently checked up on us for drinks & answered any questions we had on the food. Really cool place. I'm giving my review on the overall experience here. They have lots of outdoor seating, and a great roof top sky deck. They have some fake palm trees, a mural of a beach area, and some string lights. I could hang out up there all night. Food: the appetizers are awesome and huge. Be careful because it can be too much food. We got appetizers and couldn't finish our dinners. My 1 recommendation is to NOT order their steak dinner. The quality of the steak may be good as they say it is from the local butcher shop. Problem is they don't know how to cook it. I ordered it medium and it was pretty much well done. My husband and I took the kids there for dinner tonight. It took 20 minutes for the servers not to notice us. My husband had to go up to the bar to ask for menus. She said she didn't see us there. Probably because she was flirting with the other bartender. Then it took an hour and a half to get the food. Apparently there was only 2 cooks. I feel like they could have told us that seeing as we have kids that need to eat. The waitress was rude when we asked if the food was coming soon. I recently discovered MVP Sports Bar. What a find. I was visiting friends and we all had drinks and dinner on the rooftop. The wait staff were friendly and fun. My son's baseball team (and families) popped in here on Sunday between games. We gave them a call with 10 mins notice that we would be 25-30 people upon opening. They were FABULOUS! Though an avid hockey I'm not one who is big on sport's bars but having chosen not to have dish or cable I needed to surrender to finding a place for game 1 of Stanley Cup. Driving in the Sycamore area I chose this place because of its name figuring a decent TV would be present. It was and I was blessed to sit right in fron of it, probably since it was not jammed pack but for me that's a plus. The serves were a plus, all your cute, attractive what is ever the political correct thing to say these days but they weren't dressed to look like 'girls gone wild' instead provided good service and friendliness Though I went for the game, I had to try the food. It's kind of a natural for me try most bar food and MVP wasn't bad. I had the buffalo chicken and though I've had better it was good enough. I returned for game 3 and though the game was UGH. MVP was still a plus and this time I had the sandwich and it was very good, so good I'm a fan. I have been coming to MVPs for years. The staff is always welcoming (and good looking). The rooftop patio great. Its like being in cancun and I think the only rooftop bar in the whole Dekalb area. I usually just have drinks but the few times Ive have food, Ive been surprised that its actually really good bar food. Fridays and Saturday nights are usually crazy with people and a fun time party. Its a younger crowd. In the daytimes its a wider age range with people there to eat and chill. The music varies but I like when they play the upbeat indie dance pop, they also play retro, rock and top 40. Ive met the owner Sergio a few times and hes really cool. He really likes cargo shorts, but seems like a hands on business owner, and I appreciate that. read more

Awesome bar! Great size, great views of TV's all around. Ice cold beer and good food. The upstairs bar is just as great a place to hang out with your friends as anywhere. Went with a group of people. Everyone got something different and food was above average. My BBQ burger was thick, juicy and loaded. I was surprised server did not ask how I wanted I cooked though. Next time I will order it medium. Son 1 got a chicken wrap. It was huge. Very good. Son 2 got Mac n cheese bites and they were they best I've had.....so far. I love this place! It has a patio, indoor/outdoor bar area and indoor restaurant area. It has something for everyone. I am hooked on their wraps. They are gigantic and provide food for nearly two meals. I always order the grilled chicken wrap. It is never soggy and always warm through and through. I love the buffalo chips. They are thinner versions of french fries with a nice amount of seasoning. I have not tried a huge portion of their menu, but as I food voyeur to other tables it looks great. If i had time I would definitely chip away at their entire menu. The service can be a bit slow because they are expecting that you will be there to hang out and lounge. read more

This use to be a more frequent spot for me to visit. The roof top patio is what makes this bar what it is, located in down town Sycamore. I had food once there a few years back and all I can remember is it was not good. Don't visit here for the food. DO go for the drinks and the atmosphere. I'll recommend a food place at the end of this review with in a block away for food. The main area is split up into 3 bar areas. When you first walk in, there is a long bar along one wall, some tables and seating along other wall, a space for dancing in the back and a DJ booth in the back. Then when you walk to the left of the entrance you go to the middle room. In this room, there is a smaller bar and the decor gives a beach setting, well sort of. no tables in middle room, just bar stools along the bar. Then you go to the left into the 3rd room. This room is their outdoor patio. They have it open in the summer and the walls closed off in the colder months. there are heaters in this room. Lots of tables. This is where people usually eat when they go. Now for the rooftop. This is the newest part of the bar and for sure the nicest area. Again, there is a small, small bar area with one girl to get drinks. No table servers, you must go to a bar to get a drink. Several tables and nicer seating areas with couches and such. This is the area I like to hang out in when I visit here. A little bonus about the rooftop is when Downtown Sycamore has summer block parties. The short road block that MVPs is located on gets blocked off and there is a stage and band outside. The rooftop is the perfect place to listen and get a good spot for the concert. Drinks are cheap/ reasonably priced. They almost always have drink, shots, and beer specials every day of the week. I'll work on posting pictures next time I visit. Oh, also the bar is open until like 130 or 2pm on weekends in the summer. This is where people usually end their night after bar hopping in Sycamore or neighboring towns because of the music and dancing at the end of the night inside, or just unwind on the roof top all open area. If you like a good food place, especially after a few cocktails, be sure to go to Riccardi's Red Hots. A family owned restaurant that will not disappoint. read more

Very rude bartender and RACIST security!! Got a crown royal on the rocks and the dirst bartender filled the glass. Ordered a second one and a diffrent bartender filled the glass half way and watered it down. I asked her to fill it and she said that will be extra. So i showed her my other glass and said it was full to here and not watered down. She then proceeded to poor the new drink into the old glass and said look its just diffrent glasses and tryed to hand it to me in the old glass. I told her its still half full and now its really watered down now cause you put it in my melted ice. She then told me i dont care tou have to pay for it. I said no i dont and and left the drink. Then she called me a bitch so i just walked away and went to the back bar and got a diffrent drink. Then we took a table in the back and sat there with our group wich was 3 black men 2 mexican women and me a white women. We were all just talking and having a good time. Nothing wild at all. 3 over 30 and 40 year olds conversing. We were there for about 2 hours when a all white wedding party came into the back and took the reat of the tables. All of a sudden security came up to one of the black men we were with and said you cant be here with that chain on. Our dress code says no chains and no sagging pants. His pants were not sagging. They were pulled all the way up with a belt! His chain was a jesus on a cross. Mind u there were alot of people wearing chains. Security said if he wanted to stay he has to take his chain off. I said everyone here has necklaces on why cant he and then he told us we had to leave! I have to say. As a bar this place is pretty fun. It's a townie bar, and I like the atmosphere a lot. I always run into people I know. Even the ones I hate, or that hated me for being the tool I am. As far as the menu goes, woah. It seems like the "cooks" don't have much of a clue on presentation, taste, or quality. Example 1. My friend had a Philly Cheese Steak, that looked ok, until the "meat" that came out of it looked like beef jerky, and was as dry as a bone. Clearly overcooked. They must have gotten their "meat" from an old Jack Links bag. Example 2. I ordered a turkey burger thinking, "Oh hey, this is not red meat, so we should be good to go". WRONG! Bun was covered in grease! Since when is turkey a greasy meat? Was it even turkey I ordered? It was so wet that as I went to take my second bite, the bun fell apart, then I looked like a 3 year eating, as there was food all over my plate. Reality, don't eat here, but drink here! I love this place on a warm summers day. So cool that you can go on the rooftop and have a beer. It's not the most scenic view, but they make it nice by having a few fun murals and comfy furniture. I always say I'm going to have something different, but I end up with the Fajita Wrap, it's so good. Grilled chicken, guac....love it. Add in some waffle fries and it's perfect. It depends on what you're looking for crowd-wise. I was there recently during a Bears game and thought I would lose my mind it was so loud. Sometimes it pulls a biker type crowd, but it's a fun place with good food. Overrated. Mediocre bar that happens to have a roof top. Environment is just a bit too douchy for my taste, specifically because of the staff. Ran into a guy that worked there, named Ahmed, who treated my wife with extreme disrespect. Ended up talking to the manager as a result, and he apologized which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1, but overall I would never recommend anyone come back to this place. So many other places in the area to chose from with cheaper drinks, better service and more friendly environments. read more
