Checked out this popular Sycamore bar and grill. It seems to be a local favorite place to watch sports and more. Ski's is one of the many sports bars in town and amazingly these all get full somehow. Get some cheap ass drinks. The food isn't anything impressive or worth getting most times. Bar that has a sports theme to it. It's like a little better than a dive bar apparently so it's better than it looks. This almost looks nice enough for it to be okay for a family lol kidding obviously. Has a few arcades and games. There's darts, which can be hazardous with the frat boys launching these. It's about $3 for the cheapest cocktails. Whiskey and whatever. It's about $3 for appetizers. There's things like cheese curds and the chips and salsa, but also pizza. Even though it looks crappy it's better than it looks to be honest. The staff seemed nice, but we weren't there long enough to experience that! We sat down, my husband got a beer, I got a Jack and coke, and started to look at them menu. We are always down for trying new places and giving a fair shot but not when I feel the place isn't keeping up with being clean. Guy next to me had to order a beer next to me to get bartenders attention so I could order a drink. Ordered Friday fish dinner. The lady next to me Ordered and drank 2 beers then Ordered food to go and got served 10 min before me. Several other people walked in long after me and got served before me. All in all it took nearly 40 minutes for FISH. Then it came quite a bit overdone. Dry. Not Flakey at all. The Cole slaw was extremely bland. Just tasted like cabbage. My husband and I actually came to this building for State Street Pizzeria. After we sat down and looked at the menu, we realized we were in the pub and not the pizzeria, which is located downstairs. Since we had already ordered our drinks ($1 drafts!) and the bar had pizza, we just decided to stay. It was a Sunday afternoon, so the restaurant portion of the building was pretty empty with the exception of a group of men dining on baskets of fried food. The bar, however, was a different story. What I loved about this place was how it was a Sunday afternoon and the entire bar was filled with middle-aged and elderly people drinking beers and watching NASCAR. This bar screams, "I'm the neighborhood bar in a small town!" Just perfect. We ended up ordering pizza and waiting way too long for it. I forget why. Regardless, we didn't mind as we snacked on free popcorn, relaxed, and people-watched. Something about this place made us feel at home. I can't quite put my finger on it. Our half cheese/half Italian beef hand-tossed pizza was pretty amazing. We definitely weren't expecting it to taste as delicious as it was! I'm drooling right now, thinking about it. The pizza cost more than we thought it would be but it was worth it. I'd go back. In fact, because of our long wait, we received two free drink chips. I used to love this place and don't get me wrong the bartender was amazing and the food was always great but I'll never be back. As I was waiting for my pizza to go order I watched a guy who I don't think was an employee walk into the kitchen with no mask during a freaking pandemic. The reason I don't think he's an employee is because he was drinking a beer when he walked into the kitchen. As the doors to the kitchen opened I could see people preparing food without masks. I ended up throwing away my order when I got home and making a frozen pizza. I purchased 8 pizzas from them earlier in the week and now I'm worried that I exposed my customer to unsafe conditions. Great experience!! We brought in 30 people including a dozen children right at 11am on a Saturday. We did call the night before and warn them, lol. The server/bartender was great, she took all the food orders, made the beverages and took care of her regular at the bar. The food came out quick, kids food first and then adults. Everything tasted good and was hot. Wings were very good and the pizza dough nuggets were very tasty and an ample portion size. We go by this place a lot and finally decided to stop. It's a small town tavern, the type of place my husband and I grew up in. Everybody knows everybody and the food is cheap but worth coming for. We've been there twice now and the food was excellent. I've had the chicken bacon ranch wrap and the fried chicken, and he's had a burger and Lance's Favorite, a croissant sandwich. Tots on the side, sodas and a bill of $22 each time. The only reason it misses five stars is both times, the server was slow in getting our bill because she was talking with other patrons. Ski's is my go-to bar. Drinks are cheap & everyone sitting at the bar is friendly. Amber (one of the bartenders that always seems to work there when I visit), has set the standard for any future bar experiences on countless occasions. My friends and I order food from here pretty often as well. I've never had bad food - but I remember one of the waitresses telling me the thick crust is frozen, so I always opt for the thin crust. I've never tried the deep dish. The calzones, dough nuggets, wraps, onion rings, wings, and quesadillas are all amazing. One time, I ordered a calzone with my friend, and the kitchen left them in the oven too long, so they got a tiny bit burnt on the bottom. It didn't take away from the flavor at all - plus I was starving, so I didn't want to wait for a new one to be cooked. The waitress not only apologized so much, but she comped them for us! I only had to pay for my drink and still went home with half of a calzone. That's prime customer service. There's darts upstairs and downstairs, slots, and a TouchTunes jukebox - so you can control the music! Saturday nights get packed. Went to skis on a nice night so we decided to sit outside on patio, our waitress was great, we ordered appetizers and pizza. Everything came out hot and delicious, the reason for the terrible rating? There was a man sitting at a table outside and was pretty drunk, he was there way before us and seemed to be only drinking at this point, he got up and nonchalantly walks of to the corner of the courtyard where the fire place is and undid his belt and urinated on the floor, zips up walks back over to his table. We immediately let the waitress know what happened and she went to spot and seen a puddle there and went or inform the owner right away, she came back out 5 min later and said that the guy sitting there is the owners good friend and that he would never do anything like that. I was completely shocked the waitress even admitted that it did happen. So the owner from skis didn't come out and talk to us he didn't throw the drunk out, he gave him a pass to pee on the patio with other people 7 feet away from it eating their food. Wow, has this place changed. If you're looking for a beer or drink, probably fine but food is another story. Trying to eat healthier, it, s been maybe 8 mos since we have been here. Went at 745p for the fish fry. Some tables empty but none cleared. Sat at a table and the waitress came up to clear and said "if you're eating, it is gonna be a wait" I asked how long and she said she would check. When she came back she asked what we were getting and when we told her, she said "one and a half ro two hours. but no guarantee". "Really, didn't you know you were open tonight?" Called in to see if they do deliveries A clever gentleman answered the phone and said : Skis Abortion Clinic, where no fetus can beat us ! I could hear laughter in the background.. I simply ignored it and asked if they do delivery and he hung up on me. So i called again, this time a lady answered. She said they are done doing deliveries for the night. I then mentioned to her what happened 30 seconds ago when i called in the first time and she accused me of prank calling them (Obviously in on it) and hung up on me again. Someone more sensitive might take serious offense to this. Management might want to talk to their employees and tell them to ease off the booze while on the job or maybe just work on basic manners. Even after all this nonsense i still want the food and would have walked down the street for some pizza but when you hang up on me twice and make me look like a fool.. i don't think i feel comfortable actually showing up there or giving my money to a place that behaves like they don't want it. read more

Skis is like cheers if you go there enough. The staff is very friendly, attentive the owners are amazing, booze is cheap, food is quite delicious and not to be over looked. It's also one of the biggest dart bars around. They also have great daily specials Tuesdays and Thursdays are not to be missed. read more

Looking for an ayce fish special on Friday night and chanced upon Ski's the lot was packed which is usually a good sign, we got the fish (Cod) with either fries or salad and clam chowder I think it was $8.69 and jt was great it was quite noisy but they also offered outside seating which was better, the service was very quick and the reorder was also quick, this will be a go to place when in the area. read more

The pizza was phenomenal; I would definitely recommend the ski's crust over the standard one, though. It costs a little extra, but it's totally worth it. I know what you're probably thinking. 1 star? Is it really that bad? Yes, fellow yelpers, it is that bad. But first, a few things I would like to acknowledge about my experience before telling you why they earned such a low rating. 1. I had the food delivered. One could argue that, well, if you're going to offer delivery, then you should be ready to offer food that is at least on the same level as your in-restaurant food. I personally believe this, but I will still consider this factor as a benefit of the doubt sort of thing. 2. I have only had food from here once. 3. The person I ate with had the same dish as me, so the rating falls heavily on a very tiny sample size. With all of that being said, let's get started. Great website. Large amount of options. A pub that delivers? Fantastic! Fewer things are more American than pub burgers, and they have quite a few options there. We, however, opted for the italian section. We both got cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, and added the melted mozzarella (1.50 more just to get something we assume to be standard? Eh, we love cheese, it seemed worth it) atop it. It also came with a piece of garlic bread and a house salad, both of which ended up being so very very very standard and lackluster that I almost felt like I was betraying some deep part within me that told me I really should have just gone with mcdonald's instead. After some time of waiting, we finally got the food. Alright, time for some delicious ravioli! ...Orrrr not. We open up our containers only to see that the marinara looks like some sort of abomination. The color was about the same as chili, and there were even unexplainable chunks throughout that surely looked like pinto beans. Oddly enough, there wasn't anything chunky in the sauce. It just managed to look chunky until it was in your mouth. And then, a whole new lot of other problems arose. Namely, the fact that it tasted horrid. It tasted burnt, overcooked, too salty, not enough of a tomato taste, too much of a "secret ingredient" sort of taste, and it was just overall the worst marinara sauce I've had to date. I would prefer watery marinara stuff to this greasy salty burnt mess. The ravioli seemed to be cooked al dente, or at the very least overmicrowaved. I love al dente when we are talking fettucine or spaghetti, but ravioli? I'd rather not, thanks. All in all, the food we tried was horrible and, anything that wouldn't be described as nasty (we were cleansing out palettes with coffee non-stop afterwards) was subpar at best. I would say I'd give this another shot, but with such a monumental fail, how could any food at Ski's be that much better? read more

This was the first time we've gotten food from this place and we opted to have it delivered. We were impressed by the extensive menu and I have heard that the place was good. To gauge our thoughts on this place we decided to get something basic that would deliver well: pizza. The delivery speed was average. A pretty decent looking bar with an above average pizza. The overall look of the bar was nothing special nor was the dining area. The Friday night fish fry is awesome. As good as any you could find in Wisconsin. (Usually can't find a good all you can eat fish fry in Illinois.) The staff is friendly and very efficient. They also have a good selection of beer on tap and do a good job with the mixed drinks. Food prices are extremely reasonable and the drink prices are as well (even better if you get the special for the day). A mix of crowds, with the older people hanging out early and then a younger crowd phasing in later into the evening. Just overall a great place to eat or catch a few drinks to unwind. read more

Our friends keep asking us to meet them there and each time it gets worse. You'd think they would learn. One time they served him bad coleslaw. It was a huge pile and it stunk. Last time we waited 20 minutes for a salad and when we asked about it the young girl bartender said they made it wrong. A salad? We asked to cancel the order if they hadn't started. When we got our bill there were 6 beers and the salad. We showed her she charged us for the salad she came back with a bill for 10 beers! She insisted it was correct. I'm a big guy but if I had 10 beers I'd know it. Beware, someone is going to get sick from the food and the beer is warm. Clientele are the friends of the friendless.
