We have been using this nanny agency for almost 6 months. Having a live-in postpartum nanny help you with your baby 18 hours a day sounds like a dream but sometimes can be more stressful than anything else. We have used 3 nannies from this agency so far and I had communication issues with all of them. The nannies are very stubborn and stuck in their own ways. They have a difficult time following direction and instead insist on doing things the way they want to. The first nanny we had was constantly making phone calls on the clock and refused to heat up the milk prior to feeding our baby. The second nanny was better, she helped keep our home tidy, and was good with our baby. She was probably the best nanny we had from this agency. Unfortunately, she injured her back and had to leave our family earlier than planned. Which brings us to our current and final nanny from this agency. She's a little older so she can't help carry the baby in her car seat up the stairs. She's often on her iPhone watching Chinese dramas. She also decided to hang up her dirty underwear and bra on our hallway bathroom towel rack. Additionally, she seems to have a lot of unsolicited advice on how we should dress our baby. She doesn't cook for us or do the baby's laundry. She doesn't even know how to follow directions ie shoves the nipple of the bottle in my bottle averse baby's mouth & ignored me when I told her "no". It doesn't seem that this agency takes the time to really vet out these nannies, instead hiring whomever applies. The agency also takes a while to respond to any text messages which is also incredibly frustrating. I highly recommend spending a little extra coin and using a different agency. A friend referred me to this agency although she had never actually used it so I was a bit skeptical. We had been looking for a helper for my aging parents for quite a while and tried a few helpers through care.com. They were fine for short term but when they finally needed someone for live-in the cost was not feasible. I completed the application online for MAN and they do charge a $50 fee to start. After a couple days I didn't hear back so I called them with our needs. Within a couple days they lined up 7 possible candidates which we FaceTimed with. We narrowed down to 3 and interviewed again and finally selected one. They charge a hefty fee but overall the daily rate is much more reasonable than other agencies. Stephanie and Diane were easy to work with and communicated well. The Mandarin speaking live-in helper has been great and makes delicious food. Super unprofessional, I wouldn't even know how to rate their services since I was never able to actually get ahold of anyone. I had my baby a few months ago and wanted to explore options of having a mandarin speaking caregiver for her when my husband and I go back to work; this seemed to be the only legit service in the SGV that provided such resources. After looking at their site and reviews, I sent an email to their "contact us" email, nothing. A few days later, I text the number that was listed for their English services; it was after 5pm so someone text back asking me to call back the next day during regular business hours; fair enough. I called at noon the very next day, No answer, but I immediately got a text saying the person was on another call and would call me back. Before you know it 4 hours had gone by and still nothing. At this point, I was slightly annoyed, you would think I work for them vs me trying to hunt them down to potentially pay for a service but can't seem to get ahold of anyone!? Trying to exercise patience though it was waning at this point, I went back to their site, and booked/scheduled a call through their automated calendar service for the following week, thinking..."ok, this is literally the last attempt I'm making; if this is the way the consultation is going, how the heck can their services be reliable?". Can anyone guess what happened on Monday? Noon came and went...I finally sent one last text telling them the attempts I have made and that if this is the way they run their business; then no thanks. I've known about this place for quite some time now. I, like many others, were hesitant on finding help through agencies because its human nature for us not to trust anyone other than the ones that were referred to us by someone we trusted. I've been looking for help for my disabled dad for over 10 years and after going through several referrals (and I mean several) and even through a personal friend, we actually found someone AMAZING for my dad through this agency. The process is easy: you fill out a short application online and pay an application fee. Afterwards, a person will call you to confirm and ask you what you need with the specific details, such as flexibility, pay, etc. They compile a bunch of potential candidates and then you schedule a day to come in and meet them. After being able to find someone for my dad, I contacted them again to find a nanny for my 4-month old baby girl. In less than a week, they found 9 candidates and I interviewed each of them one by one. As a first time mom, I was skeptical on the process and assumed I would leave being disappointed. On the contrary, I left feeling real content and hopeful. After a long discussion with Stephanie in person and over the phone, we decided to give 2 a try. If they don't work out, she said that I have 45 days to give the others a go. For those families looking for an Asian nanny or any help in general should really consider giving this agency a try. I will say though that you need to be open-minded in terms of what you're looking for because those with experience may not come with personalities and those with great personalities might not have the experience. I went with personality based on my instinct-- someone I can get along with and trust. Everything else that comes with the responsibility can be taught and adapted. Either way, your preference and plenty to choose from. Few things to keep in mind: most of the candidates do not speak or speak minimal English. Most speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin (simple and not traditional Chinese). There's an additional flat fee after you find someone, and the agency takes no responsibility after the 45-day trial. I was very excited to use this agency initially as an Asian-American mother but unfortunately had a very poor and honestly traumatic experience. We had booked a postpartum live-in nanny to be with us after the birth of my second baby recently. We had met a few options through the service and when we asked the agency who they recommended out of those options, the resounding recommendation was for a nanny named Annie who supposedly was one of the agency's best nannies. So we went ahead and booked Annie, and we were assured repeatedly (and contractually) that everything was set in stone and Annie would be meeting us at our home upon return from the hospital. We had a lot of pregnancy complications that required a C-section for this birth (which as moms know, is a tough process and recovery). It was a lot of the reason why we decided to book this live-in to come help us (especially as we have an older toddler at home to tend with). However, we were met with a complete disaster of a surprise when on the day we left the hospital (the day we were contractually promised Annie would begin working with us) -- Annie suddenly bailed on the job and didn't show. After months of planning and after investing in this agency (which we had paid a fee to to ensure this kind of thing wouldn't happen) -- we were suddenly left with zero help and no back up plan offered by the agency. In the weeks leading up to Annie coming to live with us, we had even gone to great lengths to help her secure a then-hard-to-get COVID vaccination appointment that she herself didn't know how to book, as well as prepare a nice bedroom and accommodations for her (a new bed, nice bedding, stocking the kitchen with her favorite foods, etc). We had done everything by the book as clients and were completely left in the lurch. We've never used an agency to hire childcare before, and had done it with My Asian Nanny to make our lives easier and ensure a great, professional and reliable situation for ourselves. Ironically, we got the absolute opposite, and would have been better off not using this agency and looking for help on our own. Cautious! We hired a nanny last Aug from My Asian Nanny and she asked for raise after one month because she told us the "market price" has increased. Since we don't really know the "market price" for nanny, we consulted the owner of My Asian Nanny. We asked her if the nanny contacted her to get the information about the "market price", the owner said they haven't talked for a while and the price did slightly increase. So we agreed to give the nanny the raise. Then our nanny told us she already discussed the raise with the owner and the owner suggested her to do so. Moreover, we found out it's related to My Asian Nanny's policy: 45 days guarantee for satisfaction. After 45 days, the parents have to pay referral fee again. Therefore there's nothing to lose for the nanny and the owner. This is very DISHONEST! And the worse part is the nanny got COVID and didn't notify us. Not only my kids got exposed to the risk but also I was tested positive from the nanny! I hired a live-in postpartum doula from My Asian Nanny for a couple weeks for my twin girls. My doula's name was Lulu and she was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, energetic, loving with the girls and extremely experienced. She gave my husband and I so much knowledge about taking care of newborns. She also cooked great meals for us when she had the time. Her English was pretty good and we were able to communicate very well despite the fact that I don't speak Mandarin. I loved Lulu so much, I wish I could've hired her for many more weeks, but she was booked months in advance! I highly recommend her for your newborns. The rate for twins is higher, so she charged $220/day. The cost is more if you want her to cook traditional Chinese meals (to help the mother heal) for you. It's worth it. When my girls were 3 months old I hired a wonderful nanny from My Asian Nanny last minute named LaiYu. She was absolutely wonderful too. Positive, energetic, kind and so great with babies. I don't think I'd get any sleep without LaiYu. I'm so grateful to her. Her English wasn't great but we communicated mostly through google translate and it was just fine. I highly recommend her! Her positive energy made my life so much better. I've also met another doula named Gina from this same agency who was a doula for my sister in law's babies. Gina is also amazing. I would've hired her if she weren't allergic to cats. Anyhow, I'm so glad I met all these wonderful women through this agency. The only downside I could mention is the in-person interview process was a little stressful. My husband and I interviewed 15 or so women in a couple hours using my sister in law as a translator and it was mostly just fine but kind of exhausting. I learned my lesson the next time and just did phone interviews with a couple women instead. In person interviewing is a always a good idea, but just be prepared with questions and the energy to meet that many candidates. Admittedly, the first nanny we hired did not work out (through absolutely no fault of the service) and Stephanie went above and beyond to quickly find someone who would better match with our family, because she truly cares that the families she helps are happy. I felt like I was asking a friend! That led us to Maria and SHE IS AMAZING! She incredibly knowledgeable, she is so kind, helpful, patient (a must with newborns!), and loving toward our baby and our whole family. She is even a certified massage therapist and can help with post partum pain/ soreness. Maria is also a lactation expert! We chose to use formula for our baby and Maria was so respectful and supportive of our choice. Everything she has done for our family has been helpful. We have an older child, but I basically forgot everything I learned and Maria helped reassure us (well, me) about normal newborn behavior and growth. She has the unique experience of having worked with many newborns and it really helped me, as a nervous mom! Maria cares so much about the well-being of our baby, me, and the rest of our family and I couldn't have asked for anything more. She even helps us get some sleep! Maria is also open to whatever choices families make for their baby and will always respectfully honor their requests. We have been so happy, we extended her contract with us, though I wish she could stay forever! Maria has been an invaluable part of our family during this transition to a family of 4. Something to note: we are an American family and do not have any cultural ties to the "Asian" part of this unique nanny service and Maria is THE BEST and bridging this gap. Not only is her English excellent, but she also has shared so much of her experiences as an expat in the US! Maria would be fantastic working with any family! This review is so long overdue! I have been using this agency since the birth of my first son in 2016 and I honestly don't know what I would've done if I hadn't found this place. With the help of the agency (Specifically Stephanie), I have met such kind, genuine nannies- people that may not even work for me anymore but still keep in contact with me. I AM VERY PICKY. I may have trialed over 10 nannies before I found one that I felt was most compatible for me and my family. And throughout the interview and hiring process, Stephanie was always there assisting and advising whenever needed. Not every nanny you interview will be suitable for you and your family but that is why you need to trial them for at least a couple days. And honestly, communication is key. Nannies can't read your mind and no one is perfect. Tell them what you want done. Be straight forward but fair... and always be kind. They are, after all, taking care of your kid(s).
