My Boy Tony is a cocktail bar sitting pretty in the heart of Tennyson Street. They serve beer, wine, and cocktails. They don't serve food, though you're able to bring in food if you'd like. I remember when Bookbar occupied this space many moons ago. I used to like that place a lot. Well, I'm also beginning to like the new life My Boy Tony has brought here. It caters to a younger crowd, whether you're bar hopping on Tennyson with a group or looking for a spot to take a hot date. For better and worse, it's a neighborhood bar at its core. The most shocking thing is how they transformed the space from the previous tenants. It has a beautiful open layout with nice furniture and design. The bartenders are generally friendly and prices are in line with similar cocktail bars in Denver. The few times I've been here I've been in a cocktail mood. Negronis and Old Fashioneds are made well and are slow sippers I enjoy. They do have a nice selection of wines that I'll have to try when it tickles my fancy. The only hiccups here for me are some really long wait times for drinks. They usually have two bartenders and sometimes it gets really backed up. No one is running the floor when I've been there bussing and wiping down tables. Though I understand with a location here it can go from being empty to completely slammed in a matter of minutes! I missed the Book Bar and this new place that took over the space seemed pretentious to me and rather unnecessary. I have come to change my tune. I had not yet crossed their threshold, but I did run into their manager while grabbing a late night slice and beer just down the road. He mentioned where he worked and persuaded us to swing by. We did, and we were not disappointed. It's a cool space. And the people in there are having a good time. The bartenders know what they are doing. The bathrooms are clean. Yep, it might be a little more hip than I need it to be (just for me, yes indeed), but I really have not had any complaints since I started going. Check it out. read more

This place is so cute and trendy! It's toward the northern end of Tennyson, and nestled in between some cute restaurants and shops. The space is super cozy, yet trendy. Vibes all around. I felt the staff was friendly, but didn't love that there wasn't table service - you needed to order at the bar. So I felt a bit rushed and like I couldn't take my time to ask questions. My one issue was that they didn't have a ton of non-alcoholic options for drinks. There were a couple that were highlighted, but I wish there were more fun or creative options! If we were going solely on vibes this place would get 5 stars, but I feel like I'm looking for a bit more effort on the drinks to live up to the space! But maybe I'll go back to try the boozy options now that I'm not pregnant anymore :) read more

With lots of bar options on Tennyson, it's difficult to make a selection and for a venue to set itself apart from the rest. My Boy Tony has managed to do that with its open space with multiple seating options for larger groups to cozy corners for just a few. They offer beer, cocktails, and natural wine. Drinks are ordered at the bar from very friendly bartenders. I enjoyed my ranch water. It was a great place to chill and chat with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. read more

My Boy Tony adds to the list of places to try along Tennyson in the Berkeley neighborhood of Denver. This posh little place has a lot of seating options - for large or smaller parties. The decor is very trendy as are the drink options. Order your drinks at the bar and you'll get to meet the very nice and knowledgeable bartenders. I selected the Vodka Press as my cocktail of choice for the evening. It was a worthwhile choice - a little on the sourer end of things though, as one would expect. MBT was listed in Westword's 100 Bars for this year and I think that is an appropriate ranking for this year. read more

Crowded, clubby atmosphere. Takes forever to get a drink. Cocktails are mostly ice. Wine was awful. Clientele reminded me of a downtown club vibe. Music was super loud and we had to yell to talk to our friends. Seating sucks for groups of more than four. read more

After walking by MBT countless times, we finally ended up here for a drink! I enjoyed the cocktails and the service. It is a vibey bar with low lighting, funky seating, and cozy decor. We had a small group on a Friday night and managed to find an indoor seating area that fit our party. They also have an outdoor space but it was full and quite buggy. The martini glasses, which appear to be a small plastic cup, are actually the most delicate glass cups and so adorable! I will certainly be back. read more

I really wanted to give this place a good review because the atmosphere was cool and most of the staff is friendly but one lady bartender with tattoos on her arms has been rude which seems targeted only towards women the last couple of times we been there. Stopped in for an aperol spritz as we made our way down Tennyson. A cute, cool vibe of a cocktail bar. We will be back to try some of their own cocktails but, the noise level was reasonable, so you could hear the people you were with and they made us an aperol spritz upon request. read more

I'm a sucker for a swanky bar, especially anywhere on Tennyson St. I came here for a private event, where the customer service was great. The staff took care of us, not to mention the birthday boy ordered pizza from Fat Sully's nearby. Always sweet when outside food can be brought into a bar. Our group spontaneously stopped in here on a late Saturday afternoon and didn't have any trouble getting a spot to sit, but it was packed by the time we left. The atmosphere is really nice. There isn't a large cocktail selection, but I liked the daiquiri. We had to go up to the bar to order and there could be a long line. read more

Well curated and comfortable, with an emphasis on conscious conversation, MBT has created a serene and socially spacious setting for the neighborhood to settle and speak spontaneously. Creatures, music, fun, a warm and loving staff. One of the best places in Northwest Denver. The music or the staff? Which one is better? You have Dillon, Joey (the good one), and Jess and the rest of the crew who really make working look fun. The staff is a real hoot with a music taste better than any bar in Denver. My Boy Tony is dark enough to lurk but yet the staff shines with light! There is always conversation to be had. The staff is dedicated to providing a nice stable place for a drink or a million. Wonderful things to consider; I have not personally seen the blob sliding around the bar trying to eat people. My Boy Tony does a great job of keeping the blob at bay. It's easy to have a drink when you are not worried about the blob trying to eat you. Dillon seems to really know how to keep horrid creatures out of the bar for the most part. read more

This is replacing the book bar which I loved. They did a good job with the interior. They have a nice selection of wines. Drinks are on the expensive side. Wish they used large cubes for their drinks I stead of crushed ice (especially at the price they charging). But overall it has good ambiance and is not pretentious. read more
