Took special care to use the right "stuff" since the car had a ceramic coating put on it last year.

The worst was the car drying- The kids doing it have no idea. They will take the same micro fiber that they use to clean the wheels/rims and clean the other surfaces of the car. Talk about micro scratches. Yes that's why I wash my own car but this was an emergency. Not going again.

Spoke with Chase the manager and he explained he's never seen this before and won't file a claim due to aftermarket. I asked him if his carwash has cameras. He said yes. I asked if he saw the 2:30pm footage from Friday. He said yes. I asked him what he saw and he explained he only saw a cloth strip hanging from my truck. So this manager reviews the evidence with the torn shammy strip on my ladder rack but refuses to file a claim. RIDICULOUS! Escalated through their customer care and spoke with Divisional head, Nate Perrell. He wanted to know how to help. I re-explained, he said he stands by corporate policy not to cover aftermarket accessories. Albeit the damage is to my truck. He told me they're self-insured when I asked for his insurance carrier. I then asked for his TPA group who is licensed to handle their claims. He refused so I asked for his manager. David Reep, Director of Operations. Mr. Reep, Director of Operations called me and amicable conversation. He was disappointed the problem had escalated to his level, and saw this claim was not fraudulent nor was the A/M ladder rack system installed in a shotty way. He hoped his staff could have made the same determination. Claim settled for repairs to bed rail. I appreciated his time and attention. It's important to understand the term "bailment" and how it applies. "Overview of Bailment in North Carolina" In North Carolina, a bailment occurs when one party (the bailor, e.g., the car owner) temporarily transfers possession of personal property (e.g., a vehicle) to another party (the bailee, e.g., the car wash operator) for a specific purpose, such as cleaning, with the expectation of its safe return. This creates a legal relationship where the bailee assumes a duty of care to protect the property from damage, loss, or destruction. North Carolina courts recognize bailments in service contexts like car washes, repair shops, or parking facilities, often treating them as contracts for mutual benefit (benefiting both parties).Key Statute: While no statute exclusively governs bailments for services like car washes, N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-165 (part of Article 24) addresses protections for bailors in rental or hire scenarios involving vehicles, prohibiting malicious or willful damage to bailed property (punishable as a Class 2 misdemeanor). This implies a baseline expectation of non-malicious care. Broader principles are derived from common law and negligence doctrines under N.C. Gen. Stat. Chapter 1A (Rules of Civil Procedure) and Chapter 99B (Product Liability, which includes bailors in certain contexts). Duty of Care: The bailee must exercise ordinary negligence standards--i.e., reasonable care under the circumstances. This is not strict liability (the bailee is not an insurer of the property), but failure to do so can result in liability for damages. For mutual-benefit bailments like a paid car wash, the bailee is liable for ordinary negligence, not just gross negligence. Read more inside the attached.
