My wife and I are so happy we chose to go through MY DJs for our wedding. Jorge Macedo aka DJ Jamm killed it! The process was so simple and he helped make everything about planning a wedding a little less stressful. We first had an online meeting with DJ Jamm to discuss the details of our wedding, our music taste, etc. and instantly felt at ease. We were given an online portal to add specific songs that we'd like played/not played as well as a timeline of events to make everything go smoothly (the option to add a Spotify playlist made it so much easier). When it came closer to the wedding date, we had one last online meeting to finalize everything and to ask any questions we might've had. I was wasn't too happy that the DJ was the one detail I had the biggest complaints about. He was rude to people and didn't meet my requests in the way I would have hoped. This biggest disappointment was hearing my mother who was paying for my wedding tell me he was rude to her. Excuse me what? I didn't feel like being negative on my wedding day but I honestly felt like the DJ put a huge damper on the wedding. I understand you may have your "experience and way of doing things" but if I'm requesting something that maybe doesn't "meet your vibe or experience" just give the customer what they want and let me decide if I should have done something different or changed something. I will give you this... having a tighter timeline is better but communication between you and the coordinator is important. I'm so glad I didn't listen to you about changing certain songs. Pro: the guy came dressed and I loved the outfit with the vibe of our theme. Pro: he had me pick 5 couples for a fun game while there was a laps in time. Cocktail hour music was the best. Everyone loved it. I wanted it for dinner and the DJ said no. So there again "he knew best" but I wish it would have been other way around. Or a mix of both Cuban and hip hop Con: he played songs for waaaaaaaaaay too long. I wasn't expecting whole songs to be played. Con: I had a lot of songs on our "request" very important songs were not played and I was super upset about this. When he did play songs from Our list it was every song of that genre ina row. Pitbull? Yea let me play all the pitbull now, all the Bay Area hyphy music now, all the classic rock all in a row. He couldn't read the crowd..... During dinner I had requested some Cuban music but it was so repetitive for the entire hour.... and he just set a playlist and walked away. I would have thought that he would have played a little more variety. We were going to be giving center pieces away and I asked for some announcement about it and apparently so did My sister and he blew us off.... he said he does it at the end of the night. What's the point of that? We are asking you to do something. Again he just kept going against the grain. I was trying to enjoy my wedding as best I could but he definitely was not what I expected. CON: I HAtE the color purple!!! You guys have me request a color for up lighting and I did several times and he had nothing but pinks and purple what? That's not the color I requested. If I'm paying extra for something I should be able to get what I want. And I'm in the moment of my wedding and not trying to worry about details that should have been taken care of prior to the event. DJ Earl FOR THE WIN!!!! I'm a pretty critical person when it comes to event music because it's such an important element for setting the right vibe. Unfortunately, so many DJs just don't get it right and it can leave a wedding feeling less amazing than it could have with the right music. With that said, Earl is probably the best DJ that I've ever experienced at a wedding or anywhere else for that matter. My husband and I met with a few other DJs before meeting with Earl and left feeling underwhelmed after each meeting. I can't lie...when we went to My DJs' office in San Marcos we were a little bit skeptical based on the exterior (this is a perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover!). Their office is located in an older business park, but once you're inside you COMPLETELY forget where you are. Earl brought us in, sat us down in the front office, and conversed with us to get a feel for the styles of music that we like and the vibe that we were looking for for our wedding. Once he felt like he had enough info, he asked us to stay in the front office for a minute while he got the showroom ready... A few minutes later he called us to the back area, which they have set up as a mock-venue area complete with a mini dance floor! He had us take a seat and he headed into the hidden DJ booth to give us a sample of what he would do at our wedding. Oh. My. Gosh. From the first mix/transition that he did, my husband and I were both bobbing our heads and smiling. We share a pretty eclectic taste in music, yet Earl was mixing the genres and styles and made them sound like they all belonged together. A few songs in I actually started getting choked up because I was picturing our guests dancing to all of the tunes he was playing at our reception. At our actual wedding, Earl somehow did even better than he did at our meeting. I cannot tell you how many times we heard about how amazing the music was and how great our DJ was at getting people up and dancing during the reception. I won't give anything away...but Earl has some really unique and great ways of getting people out on the dance floor and keeping them there!! Earl is an truly a professional and an expert and will make your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception BEYOND what you could hope for. This gentlemen was transparent setting up and then began playing the perfect music for cocktail hour and dinner. He had complete control on announcements with the perfect tone and audibles and coordinated perfectly with the wedding planner for all announcements. THEN......after dinner, toasts etc........let the fun begin........dancing galore. He had all the right songs and had EVERYONE up and on the floor. DJ Earl and everyone we worked with at MY DJs (we used their Photo Booth service as well) was absolutely amazing. The one thing that can make or break a wedding is the DJ, and Earl definitely made our night. DJ Earl was professional from day 1 when we met him in the show room, and was a blast to work with on our wedding day. Earl had to set up at 3 different locations for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and did so seamlessly. He set the perfect mood for cocktail hour and dinner, and after toasts he got everyone out on the dance floor. The dance floor was packed non-stop from the end of dinner/toasts to the end of the last dance. I've never been to a wedding where everyone from 10 year old nieces and nephews to 75 year old grandparents had so much fun dancing the entire night, and I was so excited that it happened at my wedding! We hired Deondre Essex with My DJ's for our October 2016 wedding and WOW! Deondre is AMAZING! It's almost impossible to put into words how fantastic he was. I knew I wanted to include Country Line Dancing at our wedding and I wasn't sure I'd be able to find a DJ that could incorporate that with the rest of the music at the wedding. The first time we met Deondre and discussed our music tastes he seemed to understand right away what we were going for and what we liked (and didn't like). He did a demo for us at the very first meeting and he picked all songs my then-fiance and I loved to dance to without us even telling him. We were impressed right away and knew we had to have him! The day of the wedding Deondre did all our music (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) and it all went absolutely perfect. He incorporated all the line dancing songs perfectly and even came out on the floor to teach a couple he knew for all the guests. Where do I start with this review? Let me begin by saying I'm pretty busy and last minute decided to throw my son a graduation party. I sent out invites on 6/1 for a party on 6/14. I looked for a DJ and found My DJs. At first I was hesitant based on the fact that they were really affordable. Everyone else was charging 30% - 50% more for the same services. So what changed on my hesitation? I reviewed the majority of the yelpers, not 5, but probably 15... just to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into... Then I went onto their website. I'm always weary of .net, don't ask me why, I just am...but after going through their website, reviewing all the pictures, services, various DJ's etc., I said, "What the heck? Go for it!" SUPER EASY BREEZY I used their online reservation system to get a quote, which was really helpful for budgeting purposes. I got a response back almost immediately via email to confirm receipt, then a follow up email from Gerrilynne with details on the DJ who would be available, deposits, contracts, services, etc. Paid deposit through Pay Pal and Gerrilynne confirmed within an hour or two that deposit was received and we were set. I got a password to go through the party time line, music we would like played at what time, etc... How awesome was that? I would say pretty awesome!! THE DJ We got DJ Deondre and I will say, I think we hit the jack pot!! He was energetic, interacted with the crowd and played music we wanted!! He was also really flexible and stayed an additional hour. Deondre reached out to me I think on Wednesday before the event, and I called him back on Saturday to finalize the details. And you know what, he was FLEXIBLE, ATTENTIVE, and didn't show he was at all irritated that I called back on the 7th hour (cause I would have been irritated). He was friendly, professional, energetic...what else can I say? Would I use them again? YES, YES, YES!! Should you use them? YES, YES, YES!! read more
