Apple told me the logic board was bad and quoted me around $500 for a repair. I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new phone. I decided to get a second opinion from My Emergency Guy, and I'm so glad I did. They took the time to diagnose the problem, explained everything clearly, and repaired my phone for much less than Apple's quote. The communication was honest, professional, and straightforward the whole time. They even applied the diagnostic fee toward the repair, which I really appreciated. While I may not be a fan of the relatively large deposits for most devices, at the end of the day it is a great service. Any issue, easy or difficult (even for people who know what they are doing), I will always have faith that they will figure out and fix the issue. If it costs a lot, it's usually at the fault of the manufacturer of the device getting repaired. For jobs that don't need new parts, price is perfectly acceptable in most cases. I've brought in my 2019 MacBook twice (once to replace a strobing menu bar, the second time to replace a battery) and both times the repairs were well and quickly done and cost roughly what the internet had led me to believe they should. They always do a great job, have broken my phone screen multiple times and they've always quickly got the job done, the price tag is worth not losing all of my stuff all over a broken LCD screen. Has saved me from heartbreaks a plenty. The staff are...... a tad odd..... the best way I can describe it is "I've only met one guy there who acts like he's had a social interaction in his life before, and the other two people act like drawing blood would be less painful than being above bare minimum decent", kinda like one friendly staff, and the rest are Sheldon from Big Bang Theory and will actually almost hiss at you with an obscene amount of disdain if you make small talk during a long pause as they calculate or look up stuff, that's something I have always found odd, and it's a dice roll on when it'll be that slightly hostile-ish energy..... but I would sum it up as "show up, quickly talk about your dilemma, pay for the fast shipping, then quickly go in and out without anything else". They do well, although my only complaint is that sometimes the screen they replaced on my phone comes slightly ajar, but it clicks back into place easily with no further issues. The iPhone has been out for over 14 years. How many times have you ever heard about the mere possibility(!) of upgrading the storage in your phone? Not once. Ask Genius Bar. Not possible, they'll tell you. You go to My Emergency Guy, and you might just get as lucky that they like you and will do the under-the-table job for you. No one does this. Go look at Google. Go. There is not one business in the United States (!) that undertakes the finicky job. My Emergency Guy said it was going to be a tougher job then my M1 MacBook Air (they upgraded it for me from 512 to 2 TB), yet they pulled off putting a 1 TB chip in my iPhone 15 Pro (titanium), no issues. (On a side note: Not only did they get an M1 MacBook Air of mine upgraded from 512 GB to 2 TB (technicians in Apple Chestnut Street had to discuss with managers how is that possible that my system info says I have 2 TB when the machine was sold with one half of a terabyte, but at Union Square, I am known as a legend with this machine.) These guys are legends. Working with them feels like going to the smith in Diablo 2 and bringing them special raw materials, and they'll upgrade your inventory like it's not even possible. The staff are also very friendly and kind when I called. They had let me know that the process would take an hour and that they have some in stock for my Samsung S9! Total I paid about $260. When I got there, everything that was discussed on the phone was true and it took about an hour! I recommend bringing a watch because I normallh use my phone for the time but kinda had to just estimate it and use my car clock! Haha This place made my day go from bad to good! This sucks because pre-pandemic they've been good with my repairs. Brought in my daughter's old ipad as I'm going to use it in my Rivian for entertainment purposes while charging. Super basic problem: cracked screen with extra "graphics." For anyone that's had an ipad/iphone screen replaced, we all expect a certain quality. Not perfect (maybe even cheap chinese parts) but the device should at least look/function like it did before the damage. The ipad had a corner chip (no big deal) they were to replace the screen (which they did). As soon as I got home you'll notice what I did in the pic. They returned the ipad to me with a gaping seam where the screen was hovering like a full mm above the corner of the shell (opposite where the actual/chipped damage was done). Completely unacceptable. I took it back and they agreed to re-glue it. Again, no problem. Except when I got it back. This is a brand new screen w/home button and the button is sunken in and does not operate properly. I simply dont trust them with my device. The worst part is that I LITERALLY paid the price of a new device just to have this one shoddily repaired. Not cool. Never going back. Sucks to end a good relationship this way. read more

But then, once I got the phone back, I started to notice the screen responsiveness was wonky. I was unable to swipe, my texts missing letters or putting in gaps, or the phone switching between apps randomly, it just became untenable. I came to find out that My Emergency Guy has a 90 day warranty on all repairs, and all I had to do was bring it to their attention, drop it for a short time and they cheerfully replaced the defective component. My review is based solely on the less-than-stellar customer service I received. The MEG team weren't actually able to help me with my issue, but I don't fault them for that. Things started off fine when I dropped off a hard drive for data recovery. The Guy who greeted me and took the drive was polite, professional, laid out the process, took my number and email and said someone would get back to me possibly as soon as the end of the day (this is Tuesday) but definitely by the following day. I got a confirmation text and email shortly thereafter acknowledging the drop-off. But then...nothing. No follow-up by EOD Tuesday. Radio silence on Wednesday. No call or text. No email. Thursday comes and goes without communication. On Friday, I call them and explain I've been waiting for 3 days for someone to update me on the status of the drive and I'm told they can't recover the data and that they will refer me to another place once I come pick up the drive. Fine. I can accept that. But no explanation of why no one contacted me? No apology for the delay? Not great. Could be better. Much better. Then the kicker... Friday afternoon I go pick up the drive from MEG. Still no in-person reference as to why I waited 3 days to be told we can't help you...and I get home to discover that the hard drive is missing 2 of the 4 screws that hold it in place, so it's rattling around inside the housing. When I bring it back to MEG to get those missing screws put back same Guy who handed to me an hour earlier is there, and again no apology, no 'oops we missed that.' The Guy took the time to find and replace the screws while I waited, but that was as much as he could muster, apparently. Having said all this, I'll probably be back because they're conveniently located in my neighborhood. Still, I hope they put more effort into customer service and communication moving forward. read more
