Ahoy Matey! Did you know there is a pirate themed playground in Altos Del Mar Park in Miami Beach?…read moreGather up the crew and anchors away for the most almost free fun a fledgling pirate can have. You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

The baby bunnies are my favorite, and the ferrets, and the GOATs (Greatest Of All Time) are silly, sweet, and very friendly. Everything is set at a great fair price, not too expensive. The service requested was great and friendly. It was great visiting the rescue farm and spending time with the animals it was great getting to interact with them and learn about them. All I know is I felt like I was at my cousin's house and they happened to have animals. There were no directions or explanations...until it came time to pay. Now that part was explained perfectly. Honestly, I probably could have seen the same thing at my local shelter and saved $30. I'm hoping the money goes toward helping the animals, but it's really hard to tell. They have goats, plenty of birds, llamas, pigs, and horses. I wouldn't call it a true petting zoo because most of the petting is done through a gate. If you want a horse ride, you have to ask. No one offers or tells you about it. Everything looked like it could use some updating or repairs, and the overall vibe from most of the staff was, "Please hurry up so we can get back to what we were doing." A couple of employees were pleasant and helpful, but they weren't going above and beyond. They simply gave us what we asked for. Overall, I probably won't be back. At least my $30 went toward helping the animals...I hope.

Beyond the…read morestunning botanical gardens and incredible wildlife, what truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to the 3Rs: Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release. The care and compassion shown to the animals is evident throughout the entire property. Many of the animals at Flamingo Gardens have been rescued and given a second chance, with the ultimate goal of rehabilitating and releasing them back into their natural habitats whenever possible. Their dedication to wildlife conservation and education is inspiring and makes every visit feel purposeful. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and passionate, and the experience is both enjoyable and educational for visitors of all ages. It's wonderful to see an organization so committed to protecting Florida's native wildlife while creating an engaging experience for the community. Flamingo Gardens is much more than a botanical garden--it's a sanctuary, a conservation center, and a shining example of what can be accomplished through Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release. I highly recommend supporting this incredible organization and experiencing it for yourself.

The size is manageable for walking and the circulating tram provides a nice quick overview (and a bit of a rest). The paths are mostly shaded. The staff are truly dedicated to their mission. The wildlife encounters are informative and fun. The sculptures throughout are whimsically realistic. Everyone (except the cashier at the snack stand near the flamingos) was friendly and helpful. Free roaming peacocks and other critters make walking around even more fun. Give yourself at least 3 hours so you can see everything and time the educational presentations without being rushed. Things do run on schedule. It was not overly crowded at 2p on a weekday. Every fee was reasonable and we happily added a bit more to the donation boxes. A lot goes on behind the scenes in the care and feeding of the animals. They should somehow let the public see some of that-- I'm sure that would compel more donations!! Highly recommended and we'll return when next in the area.

The kids had a great time. There is a cafe on site, but the menu was limited so we opted to go elsewhere (walking distance) to grab a bite to eat. If you're visiting Ft. Unfortunately a few Things fell short starting from the arcade that's right in the middle and you do have to pay extra for. So on top of paying the entry fee you have to pay for each game. Which is fine in a way but there's no way to avoid children from seeing it, so you see multiple children having meltdowns of the parents say no to the arcade including my nephew. The city area was so cute! But no toys for them to play with so for instance the market had literally no toys, no play food or literally anything. We looked everywhere and they weren't even hidden in the ball pit (which was a hit with most of the kids) The staff was sweet and friendly and the place was cleaner than other indoor playgrounds we've been to so that was a plus but I don't know if we'd go back
