Review for My Gadget Repair I had one of the worst phone repair experiences I've ever had with this business. I dropped my Samsung A16 5G off on Wednesday the 12th around 1 PM. Before I arrived, I was quoted $50. As soon as I got there, the employee suddenly said the screen and digitizer would cost $140. I told him that Phone Repair Center, Body Oil & Gift Shop on Windsor Mill Road (which he even recognized) quoted me $100-$120 for the same repair. After that, he agreed to match their price and charge me $120. He promised it would be ready the next day, Thursday. Thursday came -- no call. I called him, and he said his vendor sent the wrong screen (the 4G version instead of the A16 5G). He then promised it would be ready Friday. Friday came -- again, no call. I called, and he repeated the same excuse, saying the correct screen would arrive Saturday. On Saturday, frustrated, I called again and asked for a discount because of the delay. He agreed and told me he would throw in a free phone case. He then promised the repair would be done Monday. Monday came -- again, no call. I called him, and suddenly the phone was ready. When I arrived, he tried to charge me $140 again, even though we clearly agreed on $120 six days earlier. I had to remind him of our original conversation before he corrected the price. When I asked for the free case he promised on Saturday, he acted like he didn't remember the conversation at all. This was strange because back on Wednesday the 12th, he had tried to sell me a $19 case for the A16 5G -- meaning he DID have cases. Then he said he would call me Tuesday the 18th about the case. He never called. What should have been a simple one-day repair for a basic Walmart A16 phone turned into six days of excuses, forgotten promises, zero communication, and attempted overcharging. Y'all wrong for this. I came in for a glass fix and was told original parts would be used. Soon as I got my phone back, nothing worked right, buttons stuck, sensor dead, and the parts felt cheap. Came back to talk it out and got nothing but lies and attitude. Took it to a real tech who confirmed y'all used fake parts. Don't even try to reply with "that's a competitor or a fake review" 'cause everybody knows y'all faking your reviews to make the store look good. You can't be scamming folks like this. I waited to give a review to see if the owner would actually follow through on her word. She gave me her number to reach out and now it's been 2 months and she's has not been responding to my request. I really wanted to have a better experience here and the only reason why I'm leaving this review is in hopes that they truly improve. My Google Pixel 6 phone screen needed to be fixed. I went to another repair shop who was charging at least $100 more than this store (which wasn't a problem for me) but it would take 5 weeks to get the part shipped and I needed it sooner. I saw My Gadget Repair had ok reviews but I was desperate and they were able to get it done quicker and cheaper (I definitely got what I paid for bc it's only been 2 months and my screen is lifting off of my phone). 1st minor incident: the in store rep told me it was time to pick up my phone. After I drove over 25minutes to get there, he then tells me he didn't properly tag the phone and had me mixed up with someone else, so my phone was not ready yet. 2nd major incident: They don't warn you that your finger print sensor will no longer work when they replace the screen, which, I'm not sure how you can call it fixed when all of the elements are not working. When I called the shop that charges over $100 more to ask is this common, they said that My Gadget Repair most likely orders from an unauthorized Google seller which is why it was cheaper and my sensor doesn't work bc they never have that issue when they order their parts. I asked to speak with the owner because I wasn't willing to pay full price for a phone repair that wasn't fully repaired. I will say, after an extended conversation, she did give me a minor discount and gave me her number to follow up about fixing the finger print sensor (still at a cost) The following day, after I had a clearer mind, I called the owner back and let her know that it is not a good practice to withhold that kind of information from a customer because it appears shady and is bad business. Customers should know UPFRONT what they should expect. She said that she would order ther finger print sensor (it would take about 3-4weeks) and I could come back to get it fixed. I waited 4 weeks and followed up with her and no response. I followed up with her 2-3 times after that and still no response. And now my phone screen is raising up from the base as if it wasn't properly installed. The only reason why I gave them 2 stars is because of the discount she gave and that she SEEMED willing to rectify the problem, but I guess not. I would not recommend this store unless you just really need a cheap option because a cheap result is what you'll get. read more

Here's my experience: I initially brought my device to them because it was having issues. They told me the problem was with the RAM and charged me $180 to fix it. When I got the device back, it wasn't performing as expected. They had downloaded a demo onto it, but when I tried to download a game (which is what I use the device for), it still wasn't working. They then told me to go to GameStop for help. When I went to GameStop, they informed me that I should demand a refund because the repair shop's explanation made no sense. GameStop confirmed the device already had a memory card, even though the repair shop tried to blame the issue on a missing memory card. I called the repair shop back, explaining the memory card was already there and that I paid them $180 to fix the RAM, yet the device still wasn't functioning properly. They were dismissive, telling me to contact Nintendo's customer service. I wasted hours with Nintendo, only to be told my account was perfectly fine and the issue was with the device itself. When I called the repair shop back again, they kept dodging me, claiming the manager wasn't available and they'd call me back. It's been two months, and I've called them at least four times. Now they're asking me to print out my bank statement to prove the payment, which makes no sense and feels like another scam. I refused because bank statements contain sensitive information, including routing numbers, and they had no legitimate response to that concern. To add insult to injury, I took the device to a more reputable repair shop in Owings Mills, and they confirmed the RAM was never touched. I've since started the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and documenting everything, including pictures, to prove this repair shop took my money and did nothing to fix my device. What makes this even more infuriating is that my brother, who is on the autism spectrum, has been going to this shop for years. Knowing how they've treated me, I've lost all faith that they've been honest with him. I suspect they've taken advantage of him as well, charging him upwards of $1,000 for who knows what. Additionally, I've noticed a pattern with this establishment: if they know they did a good job, they'll encourage you to leave a review. However, if they know they scammed you, they won't mention reviews at all. This seems intentional, so be extra cautious. This place is completely untrustworthy, and I will never step foot there again. If you're considering bringing your electronics to this shop, save yourself the time, money, and frustration.
