    Classic NY Chopped Cheese
    Andrew K.

THE CLASSIC NY CHOPPED CHEESE IS LEGIT! Meaty, cheesy, authentically New York-style -- and absolutely delicious! The NY chopped cheese stands out because it combines the savory comfort of ground beef and melted American cheese with fresh toppings and a toasted hoagie roll. The result is a simple yet deeply satisfying sandwich where every bite delivers a perfect blend of meaty, cheesy, and fresh flavors. Much like New York's iconic thin-crust pizza, this sandwich thrives on simplicity and balance. It features just the essentials: perfectly seasoned ground beef, creamy melted cheese, and a well-toasted hoagie roll that holds up beautifully under the fillings. It is a rare find in Fresno -- and across much of the West Coast -- making it a must-try for anyone who loves an authentic taste of New York street food. Eddie and his business partner have been perfecting these sandwiches for four years, and their dedication shows. They have already cemented their spot in Fresno's sandwich scene, earning The Fresno Bee's "Best Sandwich in the Central Valley" award in both 2024 and 2025. This is a take-out and delivery-only spot, so call (559) 696-8300 or order through DoorDash to get your hands on one of these legendary chopped cheeses.

I don't think this place is for me or I'm not understanding the hype... I hate to give a not-so-great review to a locally owned place but this was my second time and I can't say it won me over. This time I got the Bayanihan (spam and chop cheese). With spam being so salty already, I feel that this one was over the top with the original chop cheese meat mixture. Maybe low sodium spam would cut down on saltiness. I do have to say that I liked this one better than the original chop cheese but all in all, I probably won't give it a third try.

The food was a 10/10 . They have the best Beef ribs sandwich in town plus the breakfast sandwiches are a must. The service was Great and I took mines to go...

The location feels a little offbeat. You order through their app, go to a market, and wait in your car, and someone delivers your food to you through a side door of the market. We usually order ahead then drive to the location so the wait is not as long. It can get very busy. But the food is phenomenal. We usually get the checkmate and the chop cheese. Checkmate is meaty, substantial, and full of flavor. Chop cheese is delicious. My sister says its what an "in and out" burger should taste like because its better. Hundiddy is also amazing; pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, and argula. I am not a pizza fan but I would eat this almost every day. All in all a great place and worth the wait.

Easy ordering! My Guy was waiting for me & was super pleasant. ORDER: Checkmate: Exactly as expected. Bone slid right out. Sauce is so tasty. Soooooo much tender melt in your mouth meat!!! Nitpicking--would've liked a bit more cheese. Totally worth the $26 price tag. Bayanihan: Really tasty, melts in your mouth & fully packed. Nitpicking--could've used just a bit more banana ketchup to up the sweetness to balance the salt. Chopped Cheese: Really tasty, melts in your mouth & fully packed. Will definitely order again! Hopefully will be able to try the new Hundiddy next time. Thanks, My Guy!

My Guy Market is where it's at!!! This place has been on my radar since they opened as I've been on the hunt for the best chopped cheese. I finally made the long drive from the Bay Area to check them out and it most definitely was worth it! They have a decent sized menu that consists of their famous Classic NY Chopped Cheese, The Checkmate (Beef Short Rib Sandwich), The Chop Smoke, Hippy Flip (Mushroom Chopped Cheese), Bayanihan (Filipino Style Chopped Cheese) as well as a variety of breakfast sandwiches, drinks, snacks and other convenience items that you would find at a traditional NY bodega. This place is strictly pick-up, you order online via the app and pull up to the restaurant and your food is brought out to you. It seems quite efficient and Eddie has it down. Eddie knew I traveled far for this sandwich after saying I was going to come for a couple months now and he was very nice and appreciative. I ordered the Classic NY Chopped Cheese and a soda. The chopped cheese was amazing, definitely the best that I have ever had. Love at first bite!!The bread was so soft and fresh and it held up nicely. The sandwich was so full of flavor, the beef was cooked to perfection and it was so cheesy. The lettuce, mayo and ketchup went great together and the lettuce did not get soggy. This place is a hidden gem in Fresno and happened to rank 75 on the Yelp Top 100 places to eat in the Central Valley List. They deserve every bit of that recognition, they are serving up some amazing food at decent prices and have great customer service. I will definitely be back!!

We ordered the checkmate (bone in sandwich) and the chopped cheese NY. Opted for delivery today which landed us around $50 for 2 sandwiches. Order came on time and was still hot when they arrived. The sandwiches were very yummy, although I can imagine that they would've been a little better if we had picked up so that the bread would've been a little less soggy. Glad to have had the experience, but I don't think we would order the same way again - the checkmate felt a bit too spendy. $25 is a bit much for 1 sandwich With that said, I would definitely try again, as we love to support this local business.

The set up is a little different than typical restaurants. The food however, was delicious! The sandwiches were huge and swimming in melty gooey cheese. I ordered the classic NY with ground beef and American cheese and veggies. It was so tasty. Here are some things to know before you order. -Download the app. You're going to need to place your order online. There is NO place to walk up and place your order, you have to order online and in advance as it can take awhile. -The drinks and chip options are unique. If you're looking for a regular Pepsi, just walk across the street to the mini market for your drinks. -You wait in your car. There will be a few people just parked on the street, waiting too. No signs, no marked parking spots, just everyone parked on the side of the street waiting in their car. (they'll text you when your order is ready so you can wave them down) -The bag comes out in a black, sturdy bag. The bag kind of had a sterile plasticy smell to it, just rip this open and get to the good stuff inside.

I was one of the lucky IG Yelp contest giveaway winners!!! I've had this placed booked marked for a while finally had the opportunity to visit the location. Entered the IG Yelp giveaway and was lucky to have won a sandwich! I was given instructions on how to redeem my prize. You have to download their app to order. It's easy to navigate and the time slots for pick up was very flexible. I've never had chopped cheese and as noted on their menu the Classic NY was recommended. I had also placed an order for The Checkmate, seeing all the IG videos and its popularity I just had to try and see what the hype was about. Once I arrived at the location at the exact time I had placed my order for pick up. I had parked infront of the door which had instructions with a phone number you can call or text. It was pouring that day I picked up so I stayed in the car and sent him a text message. Waited a few minutes and didn't get a reply so ended up calling him right away and he answered saying he was wrapping up the sandwiches and will be out shortly. Few minutes later My Guy himself came out with a sealed black back of my order. He was very nice. We stayed there for a little while and he came back at my window offering us a free Checkmate sandwich that was ordered but wasn't claimed. We gladly accepted and left with a total of 3 sandwiches! Everything was hot and packed nicely! The sandwiches were huge. Both sandwiches were delicious! The Classic NY was definitely my favorite, delicious sauce and cheesy goodness. I had craved more after I finished the whole thing. The Checkmate bone pulled right out of the sandwich . The meat was so flavorful. Definitely worth the hype. Thank you Yelp & My Guy Market! Congratulations on placing #74!!!

Slop Pockets: I'd skip the Chop Shop.. The experience here feels much like a type of drug deal with different players!
    Greg S.

Like a drug deal waiting for the "product" to be passed off... there's a sense of danger in the air. Mixed with sauces and meat! It feels like a drug deal going down...the waiting..and waiting, looking around at what's coming at you, different 'players,' etc. Is it all going to go south suddenly? Living on the edge... :) I ordered two: The bacon, egg & cheese and The chop smoke Do NOT just show up here without ordering in advance or it could take 45 minutes or more... just order using the app and go to pick up. There is NO walk up window or front door to walk into the place. It's a security door on the side and they only bring the food out. BTW: there provided ZERO napkins despite spending over $25. The sandwiches are messy so IF you're eating in your car, bring your bib AND your latex gloves because you'll be ruining that interior! Seriously. Some of these Sami's slop out and around, out and about. Despite being a piehole aiming expert, they are messy and oily! Of the two that I ordered, I preferred the breakfast one. However it did not taste as if there were three FULL, whole slices of bacon on it. The other sami was okay, but tasted vinegar-like and lacked cheese. And while the value was fine, the food itself is not something I'm going to eat again unless I take up getting stoned abandoning all future health concerns! The food itself is a calorie bomb, lacks fiber and is simply not healthy. And you know, sometimes that's JUST how you want it! The staff themselves were young and friendly. A bit rushed, they did their best to keep things moving. IF you arrive too early, you can expect a lot of traffic drifting your way, perhaps blocking you, folks hanging out by your car...waiting and waiting for their SCORE! The food was good and hits its intended audience like a more sophisticated, better portioned, hot pocket! Call it a SLOP pocket! lol Do bring your latex gloves because, hey, they're a TOOL actually! More efficiently helping you to accomplish a task! People forgoing their bib, depending on what they're driving, may be sorry! -G

The Hunndity- BOMB it's a spin on the classic Pepperoni sub but that hot honey gives it a perfect sweetness . & The A1 Yola - Hella Roast beef super tender and the sauces are one of kind together Service is always super quick and friendly! Highly recommend

This sandwich was delicious and with the addition of the "works" mayo, mustard, tomato, wax peppers, onions, and oil + vinegar it was a chef's kiss! A deli sandwich is only as good as it's bread and their bread is amazing! Soft, but chewy and dense enough to hold up with all of the dressings and sauces added on. However, it is definitely worth it! For a while now I have been wanting to try this place and finally for around to it. The staff was great very kind and friendly as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was amazing, she was always checking up on us, making sure we had everything we needed it and that we were comfortable. I ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit with Tater tots and for my drink I ordered the OG Lemonade. Starting with the sandwich, the chicken was nice and juicy, very crunchy as well. The flavor of the chicken was very good as well. The buscuit added that nice hint of sweetness that just tied the whole thing together. The tater tots were definitely crunchy, which I loved. They give you a very well serving of tater tots. I did not end up finishing mine, but they had great taste and texture. The lemonade was very refreshing, and it just hit that spot so well. It was appealing to the eye and tasted like freshly squeezed lemonade. Overall experience was 10/10, I would come back. The place gives off vintage coffee shop vibes even though it is not a coffee shop. Seating is definitely very limited inside. However, they do have outdoor tables with umbrellas which is a nice touch. Price-wise I would say it is a bit pricier compared to other similar restaurants I have visited. The total came out to $45 for two plates of the chicken biscuit and two lemonades.

But while the food was delicious as usual, everything else was surprisingly mediocre. Despite not being busy when we arrived, we had to wait over an hour for our food and watched while other couples received theirs and ate before us, despite coming in 15-20 minutes later than us. And even though it all tasted great, my food was cold, as if it had been sitting for a while. We were told a couple of large to-go orders came in that disrupted the timing of our food, but in reality, it seems like our order got lost in the mix. It finally came 70 minutes after we arrived, and I was surprised that when my partner asked for a refill of their tea (which they naturally finished well before our food came), they charged them for a second drink and didn't even offer to comp the refill for the long delay. I don't expect freebies when I go out, but it just seemed like we were more of an inconvenience to them than anything. It's unfortunate because their food is always great and I want to see them continue to succeed, especially during this difficult time with road construction outside. But this was a pretty frustrating experience, and will unfortunately make me hesitant to dine-in again in the near future.
