We lived off Audabon so the Fresno store was close. After twenty or so visits, I can attest that I not experienced any of the poor service reviews I read here. Always been waited on quickly. The clerk answered our questions about the cuts we were looking at, and we placed our orders quickly and with a smile. I especially like the marinated selections, like the kabob beef, carne asada, and flavored chicken breasts and salmon filets. Today we stayed and tried the sandwich restaurant at the end of the building. For 12.99, we got a huge meat-filled sandwich, a side, and a drink. This place is terrible. I didn't realize I hadn't left a review. On 2 occasions I got freezer packages and when I defrosted items they were rotten. There prices are high for that to happen with multiple items in one box. They try to blame you but they know they are freezing bad meat and selling it and you don't know until it's defrosted. They have a small produce section and carry local wines as well and all types of seasonings. After checking out the store I walked over to the hot food area. I ordered a tritip sandwich combo w home made potato salad. I chose Au ju and bbq for my sauces. Despite all the orders they were getting at the window, the wait time was minimal. I noticed the lady preparing and handing over the orders kept forgetting items and she wasn't too friendly about it. I was no exception - she forgot my potato salad and when I mentioned it to her she didn't believe me and told me to hand over the receipt. Kind of rude. The sandwich was good size and overall tasty. Not too salty. Au ju was way too thick and salty and bbq tasted like kraft bbq. Potato salad was decent. A little too much onion for my liking. I stopped in for the last three months on Tuesday for the Tuesday family dinners. It started out as on price and each month it has gone up which I understand however... yesterday at 1105 am I stopped in price went up a couple dollars but I got rolls that were coded 5/1 on them and it was oblivious I purchased a tri tip that was not fresh and from that day. The flavor and textured was very disappointing. The meat was so overdone that when the meat is reheated it turns out like jerky. Really disappointing. Just got off the phone with Andy who refused to do right by me. I stopped in Thursday and bought a couple NY Strips. I got them out of the fridge to cook up about a half hour ago and they were SLIMY, discolored and had an off smell. This is the second time in as many years. Ive been going there for four years but no longer. "Policy" is store credit only which doesnt help when youve LOST consumer confidence. All wrong Andy, you should have agreed to a refund. Especially the marinated meat section; carne asada, pollo asada, yogurt chicken, marinated fish, garlic salmon, literally anything you need for a proper cook out this summer. They also have a huge selection of sausages, which is one of my favorites to cook on the grill. I was told they make most of the sausages in house with just a few sourced from local butchers. Stopped here after a Dr.s appointment, grabbed me a lunch special for 12.99, I got the Tri-Tip sandwich with grilled bell peppers and onions, onion rings and a drink. This was such a good deal for all that food and the tri-tip was really tasty, the onion rings were cooked perfectly. Definitely swing by and get you some tri-tip if you're in the area. Service was friendly and fast, they also have a grocery store with a nice meat market, they have a nice selection of marinated meats and other goodies. We decided to have the lunch sandwiches for our department holiday lunch and they were very accommodating; very easy to walk up and place the order (unless you are using their catering you have to order at the window, you can't call in the order), the young man at the front was very helpful and patient with our order of 11 sandwiches plus sides. We came in and asked for prime rib to feed 3 people for Christmas Dinner and what we got was just absolutely disgusting the amount of fat on this prime rib you be lucky to feed 2 people. What happened to the Meat Market? It used to be such high quality and our go-to place for special occasions, but the last couple of times we bought from there, it has been low grade. We bought 4 rib eyes there this week and cut off over 7 oz of fat. While I like a little marbling the fat was in large chunks throughout the steaks. The amount we had to cut out of the steaks consisted of another whole steak, and at well over $20/lb it was such a HUGE disappointment. Same thing happened last Christmas when we bought a large prime rib; tons of fat. We will be buying from Costco here on out. read more

Came to try for their "famous" tri-tip sandwich. It was ok. Can't comment on the market aspect of the place. Fries were pretty much as basic as you can get. Horseradish sauce was fine, not especially memorable, complex, or delicious but decently inoffensive. For the price, it's perfectly fine ... not sure I would ever go out of my way for it, but I'd come back for lunch if I was right next door and there was nowhere else I was looking to try. read more

I usually don't give out bad reviews but after five separate visits with the same result, I've became frustrated and do not trust this place. Every time I go to The Meat Market specifically for a breakfast burrito, there's always an excuse why it can't be made. I've heard all of the following on different visits: "We stopped serving breakfast at 9 AM" "We stopped serving breakfast at 10 AM" "We're out of eggs" And today's new one: "All the stoves are occupied, so we can't make a breakfast burrito" At some point, it stops being "bad luck" and starts being a pattern. If breakfast burritos are on your menu, customers should reasonably expect that they're actually available during breakfast hours. The inconsistency is frustrating, especially when you go out of your way expecting the same item and get shut down every single time. I understand things happen. But five times with five different reasons? That just feels like poor planning or a bad excuse to not want to make certain items on the menu. Either clearly post when breakfast ends and what's available, or stop advertising breakfast items that apparently can't be made. The Meat Market has a good variety of cuts. I have only lived here for a few months and this place is my go-to shop. The seasonings are endless over there. Gluten-free/plant-based options are there. I am curious to try so many of the dressings too. The service is great. They welcome you to the counter and are knowledgeable about the cut and the seasonings they put on it. The sausages have been great so far. They are big and the price point is perfect. The cleanliness and vibe of the store have a nice flow to it. They also serve hot food as well! I had the tri-tip burrito. It's $10 and huge! The meat had a perfect bark to it and a smokey flavor. It has potatoes, beans, cheese, and some sauce. They give you a small cup of sauce on the side. I was impressed by the juiciness of the burrito in every bite. I would put some kind of hot sauce on it or a spicy green sauce. I was in The Meat Market two weeks ago and I happened to see a Meat Market bbq sauce on a shelf. It was called "Spicy Peach". I have already used up that bottle and am going back to buy two more. This review is mainly about the sandwiches we bought today. We ordered 3 6inch ones for lunch today. They got only 1 right. I asked for roast beef and cheddar, my mom wanted a chicken and cheese and my dad wanted ham, cheddar and mustard only. They got dad's right, but there was no roast beef at all on mine as pictured and my moms had salami in it. The bread was super duper dry and I ended up having to take the top off in order to get it down. We all decided we'd never buy another sandwich here again. I was introduced to this place by my wonderful lady. She recommended we try it for lunch. It was absolutely to die for. I had the pasta salad with my sandwhich and I could tell you that was one of the top flavors of pasta salad that I have had. I liked that with everything we got it was a nice affordable meal as well. Kept it within 25 bucks for the orders I did request. The customer service was great and it was not a long wait at all. To all the customers out there do not sleep on this place. I wil preface this by saying the five star reviews for this place are 100% fake. It's family and friends, or they gave freebies to highly ranked Yelp reviewers. Look at the reviewers' rankings and you'll know what I"m talking about. I know this for a fact, as someone close to the family told me this. Also, this person also said they know their customer service is terrible, they just refuse to fix it because it doesn't seem to affect sales, at least they don't think so. And teenagers/family are cheap labor. The customer service at the meat market continues to deteriorate. I didn't think it had much room to go lower, but it has. Every time I ask for something from the counter, I feel like I'm inconveniencing these people based on the grumbles and eye rolls, it's really quite unbelievable. The deli is a whole new level. Their number one goal is to get you away from that counter, including talking you out of getting something you ask for - yes, one young man talked me out of 2.5 pounds of honey ham. He kept looking at his watch and looking at his friend to the left and smiling, like I was keeping him from his buddies. The cashiers are no better. They make no eye contact, and they don't even respond when you ask how their day is going. If you ask them for a bag, they act like you've taken their first born. Everyone is these girls are entitled and the customer is the enemy. Their meats and deli are okay. There's much better places in town for sure. I only stop here if I'm in a rush, but I'm going to start planning better so I can avoid the sub-par treatment. I have teenagers at home, I don't need more attitude when I'm spending $60-90 every time I go in there. Probably three trips ago, I asked to speak to a manager at the Clovis store. The response by a young blonde female who was the subject of my complaint... "there isn't even one here right now"... Well, there's at least some of the issue. I just talked to my neighbors at a get together about starting up a sort of boycott of the place until they finally get their stuff together. We don't deserve this. It's been this way for years and years, and the Clovis store is much worse than the Fresno store. Bottom line, I don't recommend going here unless you have no other choice.
