Fabulous gym for children! I take my two-year old grandson to My Gym in Santa Barbara twice a week for an hour of circle time with group leg stretches, dances and puppetry, as well as free play during which kids practice climbing walls, jumping on trampolines and swinging in animal-shaped characters. Charles, Quinn, Grace, the whole staff is spectacular, super helpful and supportive of all the kids, setting aside "independent time" where the staff brings out a huge bag of toys and asks the parents/guardians to step back to encourage the children to play on their own and develop their inner resources. My 6-year-old grandson also loves My Gym, as the classes for older kids give them a taste of surfing, balancing their body on a large cushion roll. Cowabunga! I love My Gym! read more

We have been attending My Gym for about 6 months now. Coach Charles and his staff are the absolute BEST! They always have the best energy and our two kids love coming here each week. The coaches make this place such a special environment! The gym is always extremely clean. They have plenty of coaches for all the kids. They are also very organized and all the coaches work well together. You can tell there is a plan going into each class. Our friends and family LOVE MyGym! The owner, Coach Charles is an absolute doll and all of his staff members become best friends with the kids. Our son who is now 8 has been taking their "Ninja" classes for the past 4 years and even though their are children of all ages in his class he always has fun and comes home tired and sweaty! They offer many different classes for children that are not only beneficial for kids health but they will also get to meet new friends. The best part is their Parents Night Out (PNO) on alternating Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-9pm. They engage in fun activities and exercises, feed them dinner, and then watch a movie. My Gym is the best place to send your kids if they have a lot of energy and need to play it out. My two nephews go here and I have to pick them up from time to time and the staff is amazing and so good with all the kids. This place is a circus! They are WAY understaffed for the amount of kids they accept for their camps. My little one came home with bruises! When it was time for pick up, it was a zoo. Several kids crying because they were hurt from another kid kicking/ running into them. No one was helping them. They just let them cry! One staff member told a kid to "toughen up"! Who says that to a kid that was elbowed in the face? I saw it. It was pretty bad. I'm not a helicopter parent, but believe they should at least be checked on if they are hurt and crying. Their management / director is incredibly unprofessional. Takes no accountability for his or his staffs actions. This is a dangerous combination. If your kid is the rough and tumble type this may be an ok environment for them. Everyone else should steer clear. read more

I was charged twice for a day I was absent, after communicating to Charles I would not be in attendance on that day. I was not given a make up for this missed day (paid for twice) because my membership was set to expire. This "arrangement" was supposed to benefit me by allowing me to keep two make-ups that's were set to expire. Had I been aware I would be losing a week without being granted a makeup for the day I would not have paid for another cycle because it wouldn't be worth it. I was surprised because we talked about giving me an extra week not taking one away. After becoming aware of the double charge, I talked to Charles who agreed to refund me for the days not used from the final cycle, at the expense of losing all of my past make-ups from the previous 3 cycles. Charles refused to honor my previous makeups and my membership at mygym completed with 3 paid for classes going unused, almost a whole cycle. I am a single mother so for me this was a big hit $90 worth of classes down the drain. I am changing my stars from 1 to 3 stars because I know there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding and want to give Charles the benefit of the doubt. read more

Great kids gym. We dropped in with our 10 month old and she loved it. The staff are great and loads of options for the babies to play on.

We've been going for over a year and not only does my daughter love it but she has also gotten so much out of it. We don't have family close by so it allows her to interact with other children her age which she doesn't get because she doesn't go to daycare. She's learned independence through separation time and is more inclined to explore on her on. She experienced a lot of firsts at mygym and continues to grow and learn. This is what a children's activity center should be like. My kids love going here and have learned so much. -- Kids have fun! -- The obstacle courses and the kid-appropriate gym equipment are decorated with seasonal stickers and lots of lights. The kids are almost invited to burn off steam and there is always lots of giggling and laughing while they play. -- Staff -- They are amazing! They are 100% about making sure that the kids are safe while having fun. There are many places where it is painfully obvious that the people are there just to "have a job" and don't care much about the kids and this is NOT that type of place! The teachers at "My Gym" are extremely engaged and listen to children, while making sure they are challenged with the activities. They are as much into songs and play as I am with my own kids. They also change up the weekly activities so your child is never bored. They are extremely thoughtful as they even prepare the kids when leaving with a good-bye song. -- Facility --This place is always clean and safe. This is the only place where I feel I could take a cotton swab, stick it deep between cushions and it would still come out clean. They also move the equipment weekly to make sure it all areas are clean and the kids do not get bored. I've been to other "My Gym" centers and this is not the case, but here there is never even a hint of previous messes even after parties or camps. There is also a waiting area for parents to wait and watch their child as they attend their class. -- Camp -- During Winter, Spring and Summer they offer camp where your child can run around and play. It is similar the classes, but longer and your child will never want to come home. My kids loved going and liked the various activities they did each day and were never bored. Even after going they would come home and pretend to "play" camp and show us all the games they played and wanted us to play too such as snowball fight or night at the museum. -- Birthday Parties --They will make your child feel like a king or queen. They have a variety of different themes. These parties are run like a well oiled machine from having plates when it is time for cake to making sure the presents are packed up and ready to go when it is time. They tire out all the kids while providing hours of fun! read more

We've tried a few venues for things a smaller child can do and sadly, the options are really limited. We did a search for "birthday party" venues and found this place. The first class is free so that was a great way to see if my kiddo wanted to have his party there. They actually had an open house so that was really fun. There was a MILLION (not really but to my kid it felt like it) activities - walking the plank, circus things, ball pit, etc that kept him entertained and excited. My son is one that doesn't ever want to leave the house, and he's excited about going here. He actually didn't want to leave. He wanted to book his party right then and there. I told him I wanted to try a class first and then be sure, since he changes his mind every 5 seconds. We came to the class and he had a blast! Charles is super awesome as are the other teachers. They are fully aware how the kids may be feeling, giving them encouragement as needed and not condoning poor behavior. This is a great program to educated children on patience and group play. Without any further hesitation we booked his party and also signed up for class. Birthday party bonus - they provide everything - invitations, thank you cards, paper goods and decorations! They are going to cater the class to our designated theme. It's pretty low maintenance and their pricing is on par with EVERYTHING else in the area. I also love that they have monthly activities - Ice cream socials, holiday parties and parents night out. UPDATE: We had our party and the kids there were all wowed. The instructors catered the activities to our theme (super Mario) and made a real life Mario course and to music too!! Every kid - regardless of age and size - had a blast. The party is essentially catered to what you want (except when you ask them to eat - they won't eat on your clock - they're not allowed to - sigh) High energy instructors (I was exhausted watching them after 5 minutes). They run their operation like a well oiled machine. As soon as the pizza came, they already had the plates out and ready to serve the hungry kids. When it was cake time it was boom boom boom. By the time the party was over, all my sons gifts were bagged up and ready to be hauled out. My son and his friends left there exhausted (you're welcome parents) - 2 actually had to tap out bc they were so tired. I'm sure everyone slept well that night - especially me - bc according to my son - I'm the best mom ever. Nothing like getting validation from your child - priceless. read more

When I first had my daughter, I knew that I wanted a mommy and me class as soon as my doctor said I could take her out to do activities. I waited 6 weeks, and, after a quick search online, I found My Gym. I enrolled her the very next week for a free trial class and quickly fell in love with the owner, Jen, as well as all the place had to offer. It has been an amazing journey watching my daughter progress both in developmental achievements and confidence, and I owe much of it to the wonderful songs, activities, and attentive staff found at the Santa Barbara My Gym. My daughter is almost 4 years old, and we have never once took a break from our activities here at My Gym. In fact, we expand them by using our make-ups to attend other classes and even dabble a bit in their Pre-Ballet. We go to many of the extra activities they host for their members, enjoy Parent's Night Out, and even have all of my daughter's birthdays at the My Gym because she loves the place that much. I cannot express enough my happiness with this organization and the ability to attend other My Gyms worldwide. When I was in Spain for a conference this past summer, we got to attend the Madrid My Gym with my daughter, so she did not fall behind in her classes. I highly recommend giving this place a try. My Gym has become a huge part of me and my sons life for the past seven months, I don't have a big family and I'm also a stay at home mom. Needless to say having a place to go where my son can grow and thrive among kids and excellent teachers is everything to me. My Gym is just that! The staff have become friends and the gym has become the catalyst for my sons strength and intelligence thanks to the awesome exercises they participate in and the social nature of being around babies his age. My daughter wanted to celebrate her 7th birthday at My Gym. At first my wife and I were a little taken back by the cost for a 2-hour party but on the day of the event we were thrilled. We arrived to find the gym decorated beautifully and the 2 staff were friendly & courteous. The kids had a blast and it was money well spent.
