Arrived within 20 minutes of calling on a Sunday afternoon. Service was fast, professional and friendly. While we were gone, our dog had jumped up and locked the deadbolt for which there isn't outside key access. He had to drill a small hole through the outside and unlock it through the hole. My idiot self realized later that I had a way to get in after all and canceled them en route, and they were extremely professional, kind and accommodating. I left my keys in Vegas and got stranded at the airport in Austin called them and since I've dated a locksmith before I knew the whole $35 thing was bs so when I called and asked the guy how much it would really be he told me $180 based on the kind of car I drive. When the techs finally got there they told me that the dispatcher told them I drove a Honda Civic and that because I drove a Kia Sorento it was going to be $227 after tax but he would do it for $220 even. I told him no because I told the guy what kind of car I have so there should be no surprises and I would only pay the $180 I was told. It's not my fault the guy told him the wrong kind of car allegedly and because i know how locksmiths work (because of my ex) I knew it was just them trying to scam me for more money. Example "OMG you're car has special headlights that will make this more difficult we need more money now" When I refused all of a sudden they demanded proof that my car was my car because it was suspicious for them to be called out for a Honda Civic and show up to see a Kia as if I'm just prank calling people pretending to drive a Honda Civic. Sadly I left my scrapbook full of me standing next to my car and my declaration of ownership signed by the mayor back in San Antonio so I told them they would have to open the car first. I then decided to call the "dispatcher" myself to see why he told them the wrong car and quoted me wrong and YOU'RE NOT GONNA BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED the guy standing right in front of me looks down at his phone which means he was the person I spoke to earlier and he was making the whole situation about the Civic up and that's probably a scam he's pulled on tons of people but I was dumb enough for it. Now all of a sudden they were willing to make the key for $185 which I agreed to because it was almost 4 in the morning and I still had to drive back to San Antonio and when they showed up they said the key "HAD" to be laser cut because of the type of car I had but I heard and saw the machine they used and it didn't that was just another stupid way to charge more" when they ran my card it was for $200.62 which didn't make sense because when my total was $220 it was only going to be $227 after tax but at $185 it's $15 more. Hardcore exhausted I just signed because they clearly need that extra since they were making all kinds of fairytales up to get an extra $$$ don't use them nuff said read more

He didn't seem shady, he answered all of my questions honestly. I felt really comfortable from the initial phone call. He came to my house in less than 20 minutes. I was charged the exact same price he quoted me over the phone. I'll use him again to make ignition key duplicates for my other cars. When I asked him for a copy of his license and insurance, he could not give me one. They wouldn't quote me a price over the phone, $15 turned in to $120!!! The competitive rate was $55-70, for a home lock out. I was taken, and had I not had a contractor waiting would have called someone else. Do not call these people. I called Austin Locksmiths on Saturday after looking for the one set of keys to our truck for 4 hours. I saw a coupon in the online ad for 15% off for senior citizens and it advertised a $10 service call. I asked about the price for one set of keys on the phone and was quoted $75 per key plus labor and the $10 service call. I thought maybe for $150 I could get a new key made. After waiting an hour for Wally to arrive, he spent 25 minutes and advised us we had to have 2 sets of keys made if we wanted the lost set to be made inactive. I was not advised on the phone that it also cost $50 per key to change the key code with his computer. You would think this would have been part of the labor cost, or part of the $75 key cost. It wasn't. Total cost of 2 keys? $396.93. read more

Buyer Beware! For a simple weekend lock out--opening the doorknob lock on the front door, which took about 10 minutes--I was charged $368.05!!! No new keys made, no locks changed or repaired, nothing except opening a standard lock, which I have had opened for $40 in the past. I was never advised of the price of the service in advance because, "there are so many different kinds." No prices are posted on the website. I had no idea that the charge would be so outrageous and I think this is a very dishonest way of doing business. When I called to question the price I was told not to lock myself out if I didn't want to pay the charge.
