In the process of our current home remodeling frenzy, hubby and I got all new handles and locks to replace the tacky gold 80s ones, and it suddenly occurred to me today that we actually need new keys to go with these modern new handles and locks! I locked the key fob in an electric vehicle. Daniel was quick to respond, quick to arrive, and was able to quickly pop the lock for me.

Austin Key Guy did show up on time, created a key for my car out of his Van, and was not a mansplainer to speak of. He did, though, tell me it was $245 flat rate, and agreed that was the out the door price, then proceeded to charge $269.54. ‍ I said that was different, in effect, like that must be part of your own thing, but beyond saying that, I paid the up charge and let him go. I did explain too, that I picked Austin Key Guy because he had a better price and was more honest in communications up to that point. I will not use him or anyone dishonest if I can read the Yelp reviews more thoroughly to prevent that kind of lying by omission or however you describe that. Ew. This was supposed to be a more difficult programming but Chris was able to crack the code, even though it was his first time trying. I actually did not end up using them--because I couldn't. I think they deserve a good review for 2 reasons: 1. Michael called me within 10 minutes of my sending them a non-urgent request through the website. 2. He asked me what I wanted (rekeying several locks for the same key), and then walked me through the process of verifying whether it would be possible. It turned out it wouldn't work due to different raceways on the locks. They could have made an appointment, come out, and charged me for checking, but they didn't. read more

Adam was so easy to work with! I was able to text him the problem with my vehicle (I couldn't turn the key in the ignition, which led me to believe the ignition needed a repair or replacement) and he was able to quickly reply to my text with a quote. About two hours later, Adam drive out to where my vehicle was and was able to diagnose and repair the problem within 45 minutes. He shared knowledge with me about what caused the problem and why it happens sometimes. He also cut me a new key since the head of my key was a little rounded. Chris did a fantastic job making new keys for my 2002 Toyota Sequoia. I contacted Austin Key Guy via their webpage and within an hour, Chris was at my house handing me new keys to my car! Moved to a new place. New lock started acting up, but I ignored the problem until it destroyed my wife's key. After three short months of "Have you called the locksmith yet?" I finally called a locksmith. But I couldn't remember the name of Austin Key Guy, nor could I remember my Yelp information to look it up, so I called the first two highly recommended services on Google. Those services wouldn't listen to my description of the problem and kept cutting me off to get my contact details and address: total bad vibes. So I asked yelp to reset my password to log in, googled how to find my old yelp reviews, called Austin Key Guy, and 15 minutes later Michael -- still sporting his rebel alliance tat -- was at my place, and ten minutes after that he had fixed the problem. Also it should be noted that in this day and age of tip creep, the payment screen was defaulted to the quoted price with "no tip" selected.
