Was efficient in taking passport photos according to the newer stricter regulations. He made sure the photos were flattering and softened some wrinkles and scars like magic. $25 for 2 passport photo prints. $10 extra for digital copy that he will email. Barely more expensive than Walgreens, but you will have a much more flattering photo for years to come. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back for family photos soon! This photo studio used to have a store front on the super busy intersection of Tully and Lanai. Since COVID19 has devastated most small businesses, My Photo Studio has moved to the owner's house as being a home based business. The quality of service and delivery has not changed a bit. The owner specializes in graduation, maternity, and family shoots to name a few. I walked in while he was proofing and editing some photos from an earlier session and oh-my-goodness! The photos looked so professional and had some of the best quality of editing touches that I have ever seen in the industry. I could tell he's very meticulous with his craft and his skill level is beyond what I expected (hard to find a very talented photographer that takes his or her work to heart these days). I had to get my passport photo done and I was so pleased with the final product. Seriously, I think I'll be super happy with looking at my passport photo for the next 10 years! Haha Not only did my visit support a local small business but I believe I just found my local go-to photographer for all my special occasion needs. It was truly wonderful to be at My Photo Studio in San Jose. Mr. My made my family and I feel right at home in his house. His office is in part of the backyard, and most of the yard is where he shoots outdoor photos. The small yard looks great and makes you feel like you're in a different country. But we were ready to take pictures inside, and it's also a beautiful place. There are lots of things to use and a lot of space. During my whole visit, Mr. My was professional and friendly, and he will help me with any style and posses. My Photo Studio is great because it lets you pick from many backgrounds and props. He can set you up in a standard studio or let you be more creative with a special shoot and create your own. People and photographers can both find a lot of useful things there.  Also, the prices are very reasonable for the indoor or outdoor portaits and the amount of service provided. A lot of different kinds of people like My Photo Studio because it is both cheap and professional. His price ranges from $100 to $500, so it can cater to anyone and their needs. Dropped by to get my Passport Photo done...quick but not rushed, easy and turned out great! Nice to have it taken by a photographer with professional set-up. Didn't have an appointment and called when I arrived since I wasn't aware it was a home-based business. I was greeted at the entrance on the left of the house, guided through the office/lobby with walls covered with pictures, through the backyard that had various backdrop scenes and into a large room that was a full-on photo studio. I get my passport photos done here. The studio photos come out high quality with great lighting and no shadows. Don't get pictures taken at a non-professional like CVS or Walgreens. My family and I went here to get photos taken for the second time. The first time we went here was when they had their studio in the shopping plaza this time they moved it into a house. When we arrived at the house everything was going good. We took the pictures but was never asked about the background. I was thinking maybe after he will ask us, but that never happen so I ask him that we wanted a red background and his answer was "No no this background good!" I told him, last time we came we got to pick a background color and he reply again with "no no this color goes good" so we got stuck with a cream color background. I let it slide and went ahead to choose our pictures. The day my girl friend went to pick them up, she noticed that one of the 8x10 was wrong so she went and let him no. The guy got mad and said " no no i don't make mistakes you guys chose this one" and kept arguing with my girlfriend for 10 minutes. My girlfriend told him she didn't want this picture and he said if we wanted another one we have to buy it for $15. My girlfriend told him why should she buy it if hes the one who made the mistake. Finally my girlfriend told him here I don't want this picture and he grab it from her folded and threw away very upset and print the right one, which only took him 2 minutes btw. My girlfriend took pictures and thank him and he ignore and didn't acknowledge her at all. He acted very unprofessional and petty over a mistake he made. We won't be coming back again! I wouldn't recommend anyone wasting time on a place unless you want the worst customer service and your background, poses, and photos picked by the older guy who takes them. read more

MY~ Studio has been my number 1 go to photographer for many occasions, especially when you need great quality photos without the getup of outdoor shoot and too much planning. This works out great for my little one. Photo quality always turn out crisp and professional unlike the mall photos. I came to this place bc i needed photos for a foreign passport. I gave him photo requirements mandated by the consulate. He takes my picture and i pay him $15 for the 2 copies which he told me were the right size for sure. I mail the photos in and get rejected by the consulate bc he didnt follow guidelines for head size (not like i have a small head or anything). Anyways, i said fine, honest mistake so i go back there and told him what happened and he kept talking about how he was right and the consulate was wrong the whole time. He said he had to charge me another $10 to retake the picture and i just agreed bc i know better than to argue with old vietnamese men. i give them 1 star for fast service but they didnt have any other customers, i wonder why. On a side note: im at a party right now and i created a yelp account just to express my dissatisfaction...thats how much im steamin', steamin' like Thomas the train and i want to construct some train tracks just so i can run the business down! read more

I have just few words to say.. Go find a better place.. I came here for taking a family picture for which our entire family was super excited ! The guy taking the picture was so impatient, he finished our 1 hour session within 15 minutes. He did not even let us choose the pose. Huff !! the poses he took were all so stupid, except for one. Our request to show the photos was outrightly rejected both by the lady & the guy. Location of the studio is not worth mentioning. Around a very dirty liquor shop, lots of drunk ppl around. The old guy was rude. My daughter needed passport photo, so we went in. She asked to look at the photo he took in case she doesn't like it, he got obviously annoyed and said "Why?". Why?! Because we don't want to pay for the photo we don't like and we have to look at it in her passport for next 10 years. Dah. Then he complained that it wasn't good because she tilted her face blah blah. I made him take another shot anyway though. Why is it so bothering for him to take just one more shot since it's digital camera, one press with one finger does the delete. And taking another shot takes 5 seconds or less. Unbelievable. My family came in for professional portraits and passport photos for my parents' upcoming trip to the Philippines. Overall I had a great experience! Everyone was very professional, nice and welcoming. The studio itself was nice and clean and they had a great selection of backdrops for our photos. Worth every dime ! It is on the pricey side but the quality speaks for itself. We came to take maternity pictures and were more than happy with the results. They do take about 2 weeks for the turnaround time since they do lightly photoshop and edit. Very reasonable editing and they do ask before any major photoshopping for example my belly button piercing scar. I came in to take passport pictures on a dead Sunday afternoon and the old man who worked there looked annoyed when I asked to look at it before printing it out. I originally asked to take two photos but he said he doesn't take credit card payment for anything under $15. He printed out two more copies of the two pictures I disliked for $20. I was not allowed to take two extra shots to at least make it worth my money. I'm giving them two stars because it was fast and the pictures were okay. The girl in the front desk was super nice to me during my visit. She greeted me warmly and was very helpful.

The staff did a great job. I had a very challenging photo shoot. They handled the job overall pretty well. He does a quick job and doesnt screw around making you wait. I had a lot of retakes because it was full body shoot in many positions. But the owner and whole staff was patient and worked with me to make me very satisfied. It is not in a very nice area but i will go back and recommend him for many important reasons. I would recommend for his willingness to make me very satisfied. He was patient and understanding. I like this place. The people are very nice. The make sure hair and clothes are in place before taking the pictures. They also work with you well. They don't rush it they gave me enough time to change clothes. They also have everything you need such as brushes and combs for fix ups. The photographer was very kind and friendly and made us all laugh when we took our pictures. The front desk was a sweet young gal who helped us with pricing and package.
