I finally visited this local deli after having known about it for several years. It was actually when I first started working at my company nearly 10 years ago. Back then, I believe we used to have a flyer/menu from them that some employees ordered from. I visited on a cold day where most of the customers were taking their orders to-go. The setup is a little confusing at first, but you just go down the serving line and stop when someone asks you for your order. You can get a tray, or not, depending on how many plates or dishes you ordered. The ready area (for dine-in customers) is weirdly placed in the middle of the line and the spot for to-go orders is at the end of the line next to the last register. Once your order has been places, you grab the ticket and take it to a register. This setup reminds me of a little local deli I used to visit regular in Stafford. I will say that their selection of hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches is limited. Most are 1 protein only which is probably how they can keep their prices so low. I asked the order taker if you could customize or make a hot roast beef sandwich or toast it and first she didn't understand me, then she just repeated the two hot sandwich options from the menu. I again asked can you make the sandwich toasted, then she said yes. The sandwich, by default, comes on French bread. I wasn't familiar enough with the menu to pick another bread so I just stuck with French. I chose provolone cheese. It comes out after a few mins and it's nicely toasted and ended up being a nice size sandwich with an adequate meat to bun ratio. The sandwich also comes with a pickle spear. I also added a cup of homemade chili which is pretty decent. The meat is finely ground and I prefer it to be more coarse, but the flavor was good. All of their entrees and side dishes have low prices. One of the best deals is the "classic" sandwich which comes with prosciutto. An even better deal may be their baked potatoes with 4 toppings for only $2.09 weekdays! read more

Chelsea's used to be THE place back in the day. The line was always out the door and there was never anywhere to sit because it was so busy. I haven't been in years but was over this way for lunch and wanted to try it again. Honestly, the food was MEH. Besides the food, I couldn't get past the look of the place. Wow, super dingy and just run down. The clutter and dirtiness of the place completely turned me off. Boxes everywhere, and even broken drink case sitting there unplugged. I didn't even want my sandwich anymore after looking around, but I had already paid for it. On top of that the lady taking orders was less than inviting. This sandwich was massive!! I didn't realize a regular was this ginormous. They aren't shy with the portion size. I paid $10 or $11 for sandwich, chips and drink. Not too bad... Service could use some work. You don't feel invited upon entering. I did come close to closing but still, regardless of the time, every customer should be welcomed with a smile or greeting. The lady who took my order appeared to be inconvenienced by me wanting to place an order... I got my food to go. As others stated, it's an older cafe. Found this hole in the wall place, did not expect the sandwiches to be expensive for such a casual place. The pictures of the menu on yelp do not reflect current prices and I didn't think to get a picture but it was about $8 for my prosciutto croissant sandwich. Granted they do give you your moneys worth of prosciutto but it was SO salty, I could barely eat it. The lady that took our order was nice but the two ladies at the counter barely said anything to us, one was on what looked like a personal phone and we had gotten two coffees, they didn't even tell us where we could get our cups or where the coffee was! Might be an ok place to get a sandwich to-go but I think I'll stick to Panera. read more

Hole in the wall, neighborhood low end Deli. In my effort to try to always support Local businesses, I found this locale when looking for breakfast, coffee & dessert, as opposed to the Starbucks across the street. Tbh, was a regrettable decision. Still spent the same but the options, quality & service were below average. See Reg Breakfast sandwich and cookie pic. Being new I walked in and there is no menu announcing breakfast items, and I had to walk all the way in to back cashier to be pointed back to front where I was told was a menu, to having to have someone for help on menu items which they then pulled a sheet of paper off a high counter of clutter. Then walk off to where now I had to find someone to take my order. After I ordered breakfast sandwich, cookie, coffee, and a ice water nothing was given to me or instructions provided. So I sat down waiting for order to be called. Sandwich came out in about 10 mins (i am only person in the place btw) and I ask where I could get my coffee and water, and i was directed to the fountain drink station and person just walked off. So I walked over and it is a coffee station only, no water. Someone (making cookies or something in back) see's me standing looking confused and inquires what I am looking for, so I say ice water. They say its by cashier, and walks over to get it, which cashier then ask whats going on, and of course proceeds to get me my ice water. Nothing more then, "Here you go" is said. It was frustrating as there were 7 to 8 people here, and when by counter /drink station areas always 2 to 3 people within 10 feet of me. All, just chatting and talking amongst themselves leaving me to feel like an interloper interrupting their giggles and chatter. If service was not bad enough, they had ZERO desserts, other the cookie in pic, on hand when they have on the 4 others on the menu. No jelly, or preserves for any bread items. Overall an unpleasant experience. Maybe next time it will be better. With such rave reviews perhaps they were having an off day or just overly complacent. We'll see. Happy Yelpin!!! X read more

I have been going to Chelsea since it opened back in the late 80's. They had the best sandwiches in Kingwood at the time and still have the best chicken salad. Unfortunately, I quit going several years ago and the interior has gotten very dirty in my opinion. They have rags under the cases (I assume for leaks) and they use the back half just as storage and it had become very unappetizing. I recently decided to go in and give it a try, hoping they had cleaned it up and maybe updated it. Well they did not and I didn't even order anything, just went inside and turned around. This is a long-standing Kingwood establishment. I have eaten here and ordered take out for over 20 years! Their food is fresh and outstanding! Some of the best chicken salad and fresh bread you will ever eat! Today I had the chicken salad on French bread and it was perfection. I took a quart to go for a special family treat since we now live in Fulshear and don't get to Kingwood often. I also had their chocolate chip cookies which are big, flat, chewy, crunchy perfection! The tortellini and spiral pasta salads are also a must try! On a cold day, the chili is also a great choice! Service is counter order and since there is not a menu in sight, you have to know what you want by looking it up online before you arrive. There is usually a long line at lunch so pondering your choices is a hold up. Service has never been particularly friendly but they are so busy there is not much time for niceties. There is no ambience whatsoever. Best to order and go as the place looks like it could use a really good clean. This is why it gets a 4 star review from me. Restaurants don't have to be fancy in my opinion but it should look clean. read more
