I got my nails done here for over 1.5 years. At first, my full sets looked great compared to the place I went before, and my pedicures were always great. However, the last few months went downhill. I was getting a pedicure, and the guy was using the foot cheese grater thing and completely scraped the back of my heel, and it started bleeding. He didn't apologize or anything, just "OOPS." Whatever... so I kept going there, and the pedicures seemed always to be rushed even if I made an appointment. Kim always did my full sets, so I decided to do white tips, and they were the worst​ that time. The clear part was bubbled all over, and the gel polish didn't even cover the whole nail. I know it's clear polish, but come on, don't rush it because they just don't look good. That was the last time I went there, and I will never go back. Glad I switched, my new nail salon is so much more consistent​ and ​takes​ their time whether they're busy or not. read more

I normally never leave reviews unless I am very happy or very unsatisfied. This is the worst service I have very received in my entire life. They do an okay job with gel and acrylic (definitely not the best, but you know.. good enough and fairly cheap). However, the issue with this place is how rude and disrespectful of people's time they are. I always make an appointment and I am always on time and I always tip. Every time I book an appointment they agree with whatever time I ask for and yet I always have to wait AT LEAST 20 min or more, but this is not even the problem. Yesterday I walked in with an appointment, the lady (who should know me at this point, I have been going for months) didn't even greet me and told me to sit and wait. After 15 min another lady with an appointment later than mine walked in and they started doing her nails before mine. I don't know if they are racist and they just don't want me to go there any longer (I am black and most clients, including the one that got started before me even if she came in after, are white). All I know is that I felt very uncomfortable and I did feel they were being nicer to the other customers that walked in and didn't even say hi to me. It sucked, as a client feeling like you are not welcome in a business where you pay and tip really makes you feel bad and unwanted. I suggested this place to many of my friends before but now I am asking people to not go there. No matter what ethnicity you are, businesses with this mindset do not deserve to have customers! read more

Went to My Shiny Nails because my usual place was closed and I was desperate to get my overgrown acrylic nails off. I called ahead to see if there was any availability for that afternoon and explicitly stated that I simply wanted my acrylic nails taken off. The nail tech had no idea what she was doing and began to try to pick off the gel coating with a fake nail. Then another customer walked in and I got asked to move over a seat, dip my fingers in acetone, and wait. I was left there, fingers still in acetone, for 20 minutes before another nail tech (who actually knew what she was doing) came over and finished the job. I would have rather waited until this second tech was completely done with what she was doing in the first place than have had the original tech yank on my nail and then sit with my fingers in acetone for 20 minutes. And on further investigation, the gel coating isn't even all the way off my nails. Won't be going back. read more

Great lil spot.. Clean and the ladies are nice! Location is a bit small and they do only have 3/4 ladies doing nails and pedis! Keep in mind this location is smack down in the heart of downtown so it does get very busy (ladies on lunch)! But regardless, their prices are great and reflect their work. I've been coming here consistently for the last few months and have never had a bad experience. Their use of a more expensive brand of top and bottom coating makes the gel just slide off during a polish change. Everyone is so nice and my only complaint is that they are closed on Sundays. My gel nails stay on easily for 2-3 weeks with no chipping or lifting. I highly recommend My Shiny Nails! read more

Came here on a Tuesday morning 15 minutes before they opened. Based on yelp reviews I waited what I thought was going to be 15 minutes until they opened. Unfortunately the owner was late that day and didn't get to the salon until 9:45. She then stalled me until her nail tech Jenny arrived. Jenny was a bit rough with the clipper and the owner had to tell her to be more gentle but the massage was awesome and worth the pain of the clipper. I'm not sure why this nail salon has so many great reviews. I just moved here from NYC and was looking for a good nail salon - this is not it. The smell of fumes (and not nail salon fumes, I'm not sure what the smell was) is incredibly strong. I left with a headache. I had an appointment but had to wait anyway. The salon is FILTHY. Everything is dirty, nothing is sterilized - I feel like I need to go home and shower. My nail tech was not paying attention the entire mani and pedi. I got the laziest most careless nail services and WILL NEVER go back. I wanted to ask for a manager but the fumes were so bad I just had to pay and get out of there. Plus, it's not even like "you get what you pay for". It wasn't cheap. Do not go here - look elsewhere. read more

I used to go here every few months for a regular manicure and never had an issue. It's inexpensive and fast. I went here this week to have my gel polish (applied at another salon) removed. I came in about 5 minutes after they opened on a Monday morning, and it seemed like they weren't ready for customers. The man who was going to help me gestured for me to sit at the station. One station was clean and the other had a pack of cigarettes and a charging cell phone on the towel where you hands rest. I sat at the clean station assuming that's where I should go, and he had me move over to the dirty station. That was a red flag but I didn't want to look like a jerk, so I sat there while he reached across me to collect his things. I explained that I just wanted the gel polish removed, and he proceeded to take out a Dremel to do the job. I don't have artificial nails on, so this seemed extreme, but again, I didn't want to be a jerk, and I'm not the expert here. I sat there while he Dremel'd the gel off. At one point, the tool got so hot it burned my nail bed. On my other hand, he glanced away while using the tool and it went onto my cuticle/skin. I was pretty freaked out and nervous that something painful was going to happen. Then he put the acetone-soaked cotton balls on my nails and wrapped them in foil while I waited (which is the way gel polish is supposed to be soaked off, no Dremel involved). After completely removing the polish, he asked if I wanted a clear coat on my nails to protect them. I said yes, assuming it was just regular polish. I had another manicure appointment later in the week at another shop and just wanted my nails to "rest" in between. Before I knew it, he was curing my nails as he'd applied a clear GEL coat! I was back in the same position I was when I went in, but no way was I going to have him Dremel the gel off! Within a day, the gel started cracking and peeling off the tips of my nails. Today I went for the manicure at the other shop and figured I'd see how they removed gel (it was a high-end salon), so I had just left the clear coat as it was. After several tries, the technician told me she could not get the gel off. She even tried their brand's specific remover, which she says is stronger than acetone. Nothing worked. So now I have a series of manicure appointments set up so that we can "work" on getting this gel off. I am so disappointed that now I have to wait for whatever-this-is to wear off or grow out. My nails had been getting long and now because of someone using a POWER TOOL on them, they are thin and damaged. Buyer beware! I whole-heartedly wanted to support this business and had for a few years but after seeing the dirty salon and their techniques, I will not go there again. A nail shop that uses a Dremel is just being lazy and trying to speed up the process so they can get you in and out. Also, if they can't clean up their stations, change the towels, etc. are they using clean tools? I had no idea this shouldn't be a "thing" and hopefully my mistake will help someone else avoid this same situation. read more

I have to say that this is the best my nails have ever looked! Lisa is a perfectionist, they are very detail oriented and I am so happy to have found this salon. I live in Scottsdale and have no problem driving to Phoenix, I would drive anywhere to get my nails done by Lisa. It is a lovely experience and worth the money. Which is fairly priced to say the least. I am going to have eyelash extensions done next week and am confident that they will be perfect. Overpriced for quality of service. Three of us went in for mani/pedis. We were charged just over $100 for the three services. That is without any special scrubs or add-ons. The nail techs were distracted during the service. As a result, my cuticles were not trimmed well and the polish pooled around my nails. I was misled by the reviews. read more

Very disappointed in the service at this salon. There were two women working, one apparently was more experienced and training the other. Unfortunately I ended up with the trainee. She cut the entire side off of one toenail -- literally digging down into my skin to cut off the ENTIRE SIDE. Fifteen hours later it is still tender & hurts. Then she continued to dig under another toe nail with a cleaning pick until I jerked my foot back in pain & said "That hurts!!!" I really should have gotten up and left right then. [I'm still mad at myself for not doing so-- something weird happens in these situations & I get paralyzed - caught between self-preservation & appearing rude. And not wanting to spear rude usually wins. How weird is that?!?] The more experienced woman setup my manicure so I had hoped that would go better. But after she shaped my nails she said something about running behind & turned the gel polishing over to the trainee. Bad idea. I was getting a French mani & apparently they thought this was a good learning opportunity? She supervised the first hand- having her correct each nail. But then her client came in so she left to attend to her. (And I heard her tell her client 'You're late! I'm adding $5!') So I have one very sore toe & one hand with a wonky French mani. I will NEVER go here again- and I would tell everyone I know to avoid it too. read more

The guy that did my gel nails did HORRIBLE! The paint doesn't even reach the ends of my fingernails and the gel was all over my skin! My nails had bumps and bubbles and marks all over them. WORST NAIL JOB EVER! Do not go here!!! read more

This nail salon is the best in phx. It's a small place, but the nail technicians are amazing. They treat you like family and they are detail oriented. They will try and make a beautiful design on your nails. It's best to bring in a picture for them to see the design. I will usually have Ms. Ana do my nails, because she is very organized and I like the way she does my nails. She will ask you questions about each step she will take to ensure a preferred result. Ms. Lisa is also great and she treats you like family. Whenever Ms. Lisa and Ms. Ana will always make time for you as long as you call to make an appointment. Love this place :) read more
