They insisted that I first do a consult ( basically to bill my insurance) no problem. I came in with my face swollen from the infection. He did his consult and looked me in the face and said it will take about two weeks before I can get treated. I am here as an emergency referral and you expect me to wait two more weeks?! The infection is literally in my nerve, I call my insurance and they assure me that for a root canal they do not need an authorization as this is a medical emergency, they call the office with me on the line and also explain that ... office said they prefer to do the authorization. That is insane to me. But best of luck being a doctor and not caring about people.

After taking a few X-rays Dr Marsheh viewed the X-rays and we had a discussion about root canal and insurance coverage , mine was with the UFT . On the way out making an appointment for my next visit I was presented with a bill for the total cost of the root canal . Before signing I examined the bill and noticed two charges for treatment of obstruction at $ 300 a piece . Since this procedure and charge was not discussed or mentioned during the consultation , and since it was not covered under my insurance , is beyond me . It seemed to me as if they tried to pull a fast one at the last minute and hoped I wouldn't notice . Upon questioning the charges the receptionist was unable to give me a reasonable explanation and just kept mentioning obstruction without defining what that is . I found this encounter to be very unprofessional and underhanded . So my recommendation is stay away , I would call this a rip off in plain english. And since my visit wasn't an emergency I walked out .

Dr. Maryz Estedrak definitely knows her stuff and knows how to hire great staff, but she seems to take pleasure when her words bring others pain. While getting my Xrays and Cleaning I could hear the doctor talking with other patients, she is not a nice person. She must have spoken to 3 - 4 different patients before speaking with me, and each time she was condescending, demeaning, and was more focused on securing additional procedures from each patient rather than trying to help them come up with a plan that works within their insurance and financial constraints. 10 years ago my jaw was fractured by individuals that were learning to become dentists, she tried to gaslight me and tell me that never happened... She was argumentative and then sneer and demeaning when I requested a personal copy of my x-rays... I have never had this problem before with any of my previous dentists. (I still have not received them) Why would I want someone who seems to extract enjoyment from her sharp and painful words anywhere near my mouth or be the arbiter of my mouth health? If you absolutely have no other choice, at least rest assured that Dr. Estedrak is an expert and knows her stuff, I only hope her ability to hear and be compassionate can overgrown her need to judge, demean, and feel superior. If it wasn't for her wonderful staff I wouldn't even contemplate going back, but they were so skilled and compassionate, took their time, that I will probably go back for my 6 month cleaning.

My last dentist told me I didn't have a cavity and I said but it really hurts and I see a dent and he said it wasn't a cavity and when I went to Doctor Rubin he said you have a bunch of cavities and he fixed them all. He took xrays and showed me the cavities. I think I had about 8 and now my mouth never hurts. It's almost like the last dentist only wanted to do my crown and didn't want to do little work like filling cavities but I'm glad I'm rid of that guy and I'm glad that I found Doctor Rubin. He's working on a Crown for me now and just took the mold this week. I have 6 implanted teeth and Periodontal disease and he's very empathic when it comes to being gentle and not hurting you when he's doing the work.
