If you value your teeth and your money, stay far away from this office. I went in for Invisalign treatment and paid a substantial amount upfront, trusting that I was in good hands. At first, everything appeared normal -- I received my trays on time and followed instructions carefully. But during routine visits to place attachments, Dr. Grisel Martos ordered the assistant to file between my teeth to "create space." What she actually did was create a large, permanent gap between my molars. From that moment on, every single meal turned into a frustrating ordeal, with food getting painfully stuck between those teeth. I had to purchase special rubber toothpicks just to function day to day. I brought this up repeatedly. Instead of fixing the damage she caused, I was told it could be "fixed later with a filling." Looking back, I regret trusting that answer. The final straw came at my last appointment. During what was supposed to be a routine cleaning, Dr. Martos claimed I had at least three cavities and needed new X-rays to confirm how many more there might be. When I expressed concern about the cost -- $120 per cavity in copays -- she sarcastically asked if I would prefer to pay $3,000 later for root canals once they "got worse." The tone was condescending, dismissive, and completely lacking empathy. I left feeling stressed, pressured, and taken advantage of. I immediately sought a second opinion at another office. The new dentist thoroughly examined me and confirmed I had ZERO cavities. Not one. I was also told that placing a filling between my molars to close the gap would have required drilling into a perfectly healthy tooth and likely would not have solved the problem. In other words, I was being pushed toward unnecessary treatment. The assistants are friendly, but friendliness does not excuse poor clinical judgment or what feels like aggressive upselling. A polished office and welcoming smiles cannot mask an approach that prioritizes billing over patient care. Do yourself a favor: RUN. I wish I had. read more

When I first started going to Dr. Martos for my dental care needs about 10-12 years ago, I had a few semi-serious issues that she took care of. I got an old crown replaced and a new crown. Since then, I've been fortunate to only need periodic cleanings. I look forward to going to the dentist. (Who EVER says that?) My very thorough, professional dental hygienist, Eileen always makes me feel welcome. She methodically tends to my oral hygiene with pleasant and often humorous banter. "Ay, Johncito!", she says. I want to share my experience with this clinic so that other patients can make an informed decision. Although the initial treatment was very kind and welcoming, my perception changed drastically once the treatment began. I identified several critical points that I consider important to highlight: 1. Lack of clarity in the estimate: I was given an initial estimate that was later not respected. 2. Lack of transparency in financing and additional charges: I was not clearly informed about the interest rates of external financing companies, nor about the mandatory additional fees charged at each visit (required dental cleanings and shipping fees). These hidden costs should be communicated from day one. 3. Quality of work and professional ethics: The technical result of the work performed did not meet expectations. In addition, I felt that unnecessary procedures were suggested that had not been previously planned, which generated significant distrust regarding the ethics of the diagnosis. I understand that they have a team that depends on their work, rent to pay, and operating expenses--but where is the human side of these doctors? Where is the commitment to doing what is right these days? Most regrettably, I felt that my vulnerability as a patient was taken advantage of for financial gain. I recommend that future patients be cautious with the reviews they see on social media, as they often do not reflect the reality of the service and may be incentivized by the business itself. My son was a student at U Miami and went to this place for dental treatment. They discovered some cavities and used a laser to fill them. When he returned to CT, not one but THREE dentists confirmed that the cavities were still there. This was first discovered only a half year after you worked on him when he went in for a cleaning and the dentist took a set of x-rays which clearly showed the same cavities you claimed to have fixed as still being cavities. The laser was not the correct treatment for the kind of cavities my son had as per the first dentist who examined him. Later, in disbelief, we went to two other dentists who confirmed. So the excuse of time and lifestyle doesn't fly and X-rays don't lie! Neither would THREE other dentists. We are still in the process of cleaning up this mess that you've made as not everyone has thousands of dollars laying around to pay to fix what was already paid for. I really don't think that the doctor knows what they are doing. My teeth looked terrible after she treated me. I really wish I never went here. I got talked into veneers by them and fell for it. I only had a small chip on a tooth. I probably could've just gotten a bonding to fix it. Either way, it doesn't matter. I don't like the result. I saw a new dentist and now it looks beautiful. I never thought I would ever say I had a favorite dentist but here I am. Grisel Martos is absolute favorite dentist I've ever had.... in fact She's personable, charming and very excited about what she does which in turn makes you excited as well. I had been wanting to straighten my teeth forever and never had been available to afford it but my teeth felt so cramped that one day I heard an Invisalign ad on the radio for this office and i literally immediately called for an appointment. Now, I've been to other dentists and have gotten quotes on Invisalign before but it wasn't until walked into that office and I met Dr Grisel till I was convinced that this was the dentist for me. First of all, the office exudes femininity because of the decor and it smells divine. Also, as far as I know, it is completely staffed by women. So naturally, I felt super comfortable. They are also located facing the interior courtyard with windows around the perimeter. I am always partial to natural light so I love that. The staff is also so friendly and attentive. They know who you are when you call without having to say your name. Dr. Grisel is great! She's beautiful, funny, energetic and so happy to help you on your journey to straight teeth. I'm a big fan. I would 100% implore for anyone looking for a new dentist to visit Dr. Grisel's office. It is not your typical drab dentist office and so you will feel right at home. read more

No doubt Dr. Martos is passionate about what she does and is knowledgeable in her profession however her heart is SICK. As if I am a lab rat she gave me the worst anesthesia that causes an electric shock and broke me out in hives all over my body. I don't know if she did this because I am black because I am sure she never did this to her other patients based on the reactions of her staff. During my entire procedure Dr. Martos talked ill of me to her dental assistants in Spanish thinking I don't understand. She allowed her dental assistants in training to fix my bite which did a terrible job and when I came back for Dr. Martos to fix it she complained that I should of never came back. She was right because she put holes in my perfect molar with a drill as she fixed my bite by shaving down my teeth further saying she was "polishing" them. I thanked Dr. Martos and her response was "thank me with money. Buy me shoes, a purse. Don't tell me you love me! Show me!" She made the response hoping her dental assistants would laugh but the room was quiet. Not to mention she was trying to convince me to get a $3,500 Invisalign saying I would be fixed in 6 months?!? An unneeded procedure because I am fully aware I have perfect alignment. Tried to charge me $700 to pull a tooth... seriously? Her front desk assistants are horrible people and talk bad about everyone and lie like demons to get the most money out of every patient they can. Everyone in the waiting room can hear them. If being money hungry wasn't Dr Martos thing she would be a great Dentist. If she sits you anywhere behind the front desk assistants beware she will ruin your teeth in those seats. Those are not operating seats. I suggests going to a dentist recommended by your family and friends. Yes Dr. Martos you are right I am intelligent and am aware of the 2 teeth you were supposed to work on and you did operate on more than just those two teeth even numbness couldn't block my awareness. similar experience with Hillary M. and Heather B. I do not know Dr. Martos that well, so I cannot judge her by her professional skills. I believe that she could be a really good Dr. despite the fact that she was pretty rough when she was treating me right after I told her I cannot pay the deep cleaning fee and I had to think about the 500-600 deep cleaning treatment. What I am sure is that her marketing promotion with Groupon was not a smart one. Groupon is suppose to be a good experience with the GOOD DEAL expectation. I've been a patient of Dr. Martos since December of 2011 and I have yet to have a bad experience at her office. The ENTIRE staff is friendly, though no one else in my family is a patient there, they ask about my family every time they see me and genuinely care. When I first went to her office it was for a second opinion, I needed to get some serious work done, although I brush and floss regularly, I had 2 previously cracked molars that were wrecking havoc on my oral health. I needed to know who would be able to save two molars in the most cost -effective manner. Dr. Martos, gave me several options with their pros and cons. Some procedures were more expensive than I expected, but mainly because I had let my mouth get to such a point of disarray. WHile others, were a lot less expensive than expected-- it balanced out. In the end, Dr. Martos cheerful disposition and her willingness to help me get back to a healthy smile won me over. I am extremely happy having Dr. Martos as my dentist and I recommend her to anyone looking. read more

Where do I start? This dental office is not your regular office. Staff and patients are like family. When you come for an appointment you feel the camaraderie in the office which makes the stressful experience of going to the dentist so much better. Dr. Martos is just great! I've seen amazing results in people's teeth all because of her, Im talking night to day transformations. She is gentle but strong, which makes you feel more confident. They have the best and most up to date technology, which is a bit more confortable to the patient. When you are in the chair both Dr Martos and the assistants make jokes, talk to you in a personal level to make you fee more relaxed. I so appreciate that. In all honesty, this is probably the best dentist office I have ever been to. As soon as you walk in they all greet you & welcome you in. They treat you just like family! I'd be lying to you if I told you I was looking forward to going to the dentist but not in this case. I look forward to a bunch of Cuban ladies cracking jokes. There's never a dull moment. I am probably the biggest coward when it comes to visiting the dentist so all of my life I have had a strong tendency to avoid dental cleanings, visits, etc. I found a good deal on Groupon for Dr. Martos and decided to give it a try... very glad I did! It seems like most of the Groupon reviews for Dr. Martos are unfair and really just based on financial issue rather than the actual want to have healthy teeth. Dr. Martos' office is not a nightmare like Heather or Beini describe. Overall dental procedures are pricey at any office because the mouth is so delicate so we really have to give Dr. Martos' office credit and consideration in regard to their many payment options. Personally, I work part time and can't afford much but the office has helped me finance the procedures I have needed, which is a great relief when you're in a tight spot and desperately need all wisdom teeth pulled. When it comes to your teeth, it really is an investment that most fail to make. Luckily Dr. Martos is in between a happy medium where it really is affordable for those with or without dental insurance. The office itself is aesthetically appealing and makes you feel confident in knowing that whatever you're having done there will be performed with the utmost hygiene standards. The hygienist is very sweet, GENTLE, and quick. Reception is great... you arrive and are promptly called in and the flexibility with the appointment times is convenient. Dr. Martos herself is experienced and confident in what she's doing that you really don't have much to worry about when it comes to her taking care of your mouth. I have been going to Dr Martos since 2005 and she has always been very professional and very helpful. After not visiting a dentist for over 14 years, I walked into her office without an appointment, and asked her to please look at my fractured tooth because I was in so much pain. She cleaned the fractured tooth, relieved the pain, and put in a temporary filling until I could sit down for a root canal. The next week she scheduled me for a root canal and did a fantastic job. I wish I would have listened to her advice to get a filling on another molar and suffered another gaping cavity which needed yet another root canal. Last week she took me in and did a fantastic root canal and crown. I can finally eat with both sides of my mouth and I have no discomfort whatsoever!! I will always be grateful for the way she took care of my 2 root canals and crowns. She is a wonderful and knowledgeable dentist who will always have me as a patient. I will not fear the dentist ever again. *They also have a great staff of Dental Hygienists who performed my deep cleaning and my regular cleanings since I started taking better care of my teeth. read more

Heather B, I couldn't agree more! My experience was similar to yours. I also made an appointment for the sole purpose of using the Groupon deal, but after my visit was extremely disappointed, to say the least. I waited for 25 minutes just to be seen, then the first woman to take individual photos of my teeth was scratching her head and typing on the computer while wearing the rubber gloves, which I think were meant for sanitary purposes. It blew my mind that she was so careless, and didn't realize she was completely missing the point of the rubber gloves. She also asked questions about what type of toothbrush I use, then offered to sell me a rotating brush for $150. Between my next full mouth x-ray using and seeing the doctor, about another 10-15 minutes passed. So, by the time the Ms Martos came for the consultation, I had been there for an hour and still hadn't gotten the cleaning. She then explained that I didn't qualify for the Groupon deal, and I would need to pay $120 for the cleaning. But, the price for the Groupon could be credit towards that full fee. Not to mention, that if I did want to pay full price for the cleaning, it would take another 45 minutes. What a joke! It seems that she sees the Groupon as merely an entrance fee, and has no intentions of actually including the cleaning, without raising the price. This is something that should be very clear at the time of purchasing the Groupon. In addition to this, the level of service was less than desirable. read more

Must say, I've never been one who is afraid of the dentist and yet, without dental insurance, seeing one became a financial concern. So I jumped at the Groupon when it became available; after all, she had some good reviews (possibly written by friends?!) My visit to this office was poor from start to finish. They weren't happy about the Groupon as I suspect many places aren't (so why do they offer it? Not sure) and some girl in street clothes - did she even work there? - sat beside me, attempting to be social, but actually said to me, "you don't brush your teeth?" I looked at her like she had two heads. I obviously brush my teeth. Do I floss regularly? Not so much. I told her so. She pressed on as to what type of toothbrush I use - soft, I said, now concerned at the prospect of being judged over my life choices. Good! Soft is good. Brush them before breakfast, after breakfast, and then at least two to three more times; Basically, you must brush 12 out of the 24 hours in a day or don't bother going in for routine dental care. After this little bit of sunshine left, they came in, took some x-rays and then used some camera type thing to put giant 8x10s of my teeth up on a computer monitor. Admittedly, your teeth after having skipped a routine cleaning (and when displayed on a movie theater screen) do not gleam the way they once did, but they were by no means akin to anything I've seen in books or horror films. I must say how interesting it was that they chose to leave the 8x10s up on the screen for anyone passing by to see; as if I'd always wanted my mouth to become the poster gal for skipping a cleaning. When the doctor finally came in, she was actually very nice but it really couldn't make up for the horrors I'd been through just moments ago. We made brief small talk, yet all i could think was that she was silently judging my lack of a steady flossing routine. She left after about 5 minutes and then an assistant returned a few moments later with a bill the size of the U.S. constitution, quoting me $1800 for a peridontal cleaning series, invisalign, and 4 cavities. Naturally I flashed them my pearly whites before walking out the door and making an appointment with another dentist who said I needed a general cleaning, and could not find a single cavity. My advice - RUN! Don't groupon, don't pay out of pocket, and for god's sake, don't show up their without a soft tip toothbrush. You've been warned. read more

I had my first consultation/cleaning with Dr.Martos earlier this week. First, I'll walk you through the appointment: The appointment starts off with Dr.Martos coming in and performing an inspection of your teeth. She hands you a mirror and shows you what she has found and then provides her recommendations. The thing is, you need to pay attention to the difference between what is needed, recommended, and what could be done to improve your teeth. She leaves and the insurance/billing lady comes in and walks you through your bill as it stands with everything included. Mine was huge....but again, that was with everything we discussed. All I NEEDED to have done was a extra thorough cleaning. I asked the insurance lady to price out each of the other procedures so I could plan my budget accordingly and opted to refuse certain extra treatments and return at a later time for others. Then you're moved to another room and the cleaning is performed. Dr.Martos stood out for me for 2 reasons: 1) She addressed my request for some cosmetic improvements with a less-is-more approach. Her recommendation was less than I expected and it does seem to be the best option. I went into the appointment thinking I would need more and she talked me down. That doesn't happen often. 2) She addressed some cavities that other dentists did not feel needed to be addressed. The cavities were not the progressive kind that need to be drilled out, but just crevices in my teeth that make it difficult for me to maintain them. She recommended they be filled but did not present it as an immediate need, just a recommendation. All in all, I'm glad I went to Dr.Martos. You just have to pay attention to the procedures discussed and take ownership of your mouth and what you need/want done to improve it. If you're financially pinched, make that clear to her and ask for what is only necessary at that time. read more

Crooks!! They tell you there are no fees and at the end over charge you for a cleanup. I came in for a cleanup and told them before I made my appointment to tell me if there are any fees. They never told me of a $100 fee and I needed to pay. Ridiculous service and prices. I would never think a so called respected dentist would have these types of business practice.
