    Chicken basil sandwich
    Barbra M.

I'm normally not a sandwich fan, but the pictures I saw on-line enticed me to try this cute little food truck in Canyon Lake. I'm so glad I tried it. I had the chicken basil sandwich, which came with homemade chips. The sandwich was like a fresh caprese sandwich on whole grain bread with chicken breast and red onion. Very tasty! The chips were thin, crispy and delicious. For a food truck in a busy parking lot, the owners have created a cute spot to relax and enjoy your food. The only thing that would make it better is something sweet on the menu to finish the meal (cookie, cupcake, etc).

MY SWEET BASIL IS QUAINT - SUPPORT SMALL LOCAL BUSINESSES - When you want the marketing photos to match what your ordered - THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Recently relocated our camper for a couple months out in Startzville, and today for lunch we decided to eat out. I can't not explain in words what happened to my tastebuds and the noises I made with each bite! THIS PLACE IS TOP NOTCH. I ordered the BLT-A with an aioli (mmm) This had so much balance with all the things!!! Ya'll the amount of bacon on this thing! I'm huge on balance with each bite, it needs to have all the ingredients, IT DID - SPOT ON!! The toasted bread was buttered perfectly, fresh crispy lettuce, juicy flavorful tomato and the avocado was health & ripe. Hubby had the Cubano (which I tasted as well) fresh savory and reminded me of a rueben but BETTER! Their side salad also fresh, crisp, great presentation and the vinaigrette with all the flavor combinations happening in that bowl - Definitely refreshing!! This place was so cute (hubby sent pics cause I was studyin) OH I almost forgot!!! The Poteet Strawberry Tea was great tasting, not too sweet! That ROOTBEER though!! the BEST I've ever had. Honestly, I would eat there daily if I could! Service was spectacular. I called to make sure they were at the location stated on Yelp and Open. Super friendly and upbeat upon answering. Placed order online, they had sold out of one of their drinks and immediately called me to let me know so that I could pick another one (so glad I got the root beer~yum). My Sweet Basil always has it going on!! They don't serve fast food! It's definitely worth the wait, it's restaurant quality. The flavors are always well balanced and delicious. Today I had an elote and burger ! The burger was so juicy and the elote was great and that jalapeño on the side was fire! I would definitely recommend eating anything from this epic food tru

Stopped on a whim while in the area working. Best fish tacos i've had in a long while! They've got a cute little set up with plenty of seating and they're prepped for TX heat with misting fans. Staff was great & brought out a side of fruit that was juicy and sweet.

My sweet sweet basil. Hmmmm. One of my favorite food trucks. I don't go to La Cumbre because of this food truck, but it doesn't hurt when they are there. So that's a good spot to catch them at if you need a fix. As most food trucks, their menu isn't always the same. I've yet to see them offer what they had on their menu the first time i tried their fare. It was some sort of bean and chorrizo taco which was was amazing. I also made it a point to come by and participate in a food pairing they collaborated on with La Cumbre on another occasion. It was absolutely phenomenal. I most recently had their version of a Cubano which was nothing less than i expected. Just plain tasty. I battled the decision to be just flat out gluttonous and also order the Meatloaf Sandwich that was on the menu....because i dont know when i'll see it on the menu again and it just sounded soooo good. It's okay. I can wait for a good thing. That I will happily do for a treat from my sweet basil. Their food is made fresh with good quality ingredients. You can tell by the look and the taste. They take a lot of pride in their product and their service as well. Look them up, and check them out. Enjoy some of what they have to offer. You'll be hooked.

    Carnitas tots

Yuuum, deliciousness. This food truck was parked at the Rail Yards Holiday Market, and the long line was almost a deterrent, until I realized they had carnitas tots on their menu. And I'll admit, the wait was pretty long, but the food was so worth it. For $10, they really load up on tots, cheesy goodness, and meat. There's no skimping on toppings here, and everything definitely tastes fresh. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro and jalapeños, so please don't just my photo of those toppings picked off. Still worth it. They also had wassail for a holiday drink, and that was perfectly spiced and hot for the cold weather.

The food is awesome! We stopped by La Cumbre for beer and My sweet Basil had their food truck outside. My husband ordered the Cubano which we both highly recommend. I had the burger which was very good, but not as good as the cubano sandwich. We also ordered the tater tots with green chilli salsa and queso - yummy yummy. If you find this food truck anywhere, order food from them because they do not disappoint.

There aren't enough words to describe how much I love this food. I've eaten here 3-4 times now and I am always beyond pleased with what I get! The loaded tots, the burgers, the nachos, everything is drool-worthy. The menu rotates and changes, which is fun, but I wish I could have the bison burger on demand. It's stacked with onion rings, blue cheese crumbles, and FIGS. I've never had a fig before but I gotta say, I'm a fig fan now. Delicious. Thank you for providing the most delicious sustenance, My Sweet Basil!

We've all had carne asada fries, but have you had carne asada tots?! They were the perfect food to have at the Street Food and Beer Festival. The jalapeños were spicy, the queso was gooey, and the portion was generous. For $10 you will definitely get your money's worth. Worth trying if you run into this truck around town!

Food pairing with La Cumbre Brewing Company... que fancy!!

This is one of my favorite food trucks. They serve very classy(?) dishes. They're unique and have their own twist of flavor for each of their dishes. One of the first things I have had from them are the fish tacos (which I have not seen or had again, so sad). They were probably some of the best fish tacos I have had. I love catching them at La Cumbre on Tuesdays just to try something new because I know anything on the menu is going to be fantastic. Last week, I did have the fried artichokes. I was not too sure of what to expect. They were fairly good. The only thing I would discredit from those was the saltiness of the batter. It looked like they may have used a season all (all spice), but it was really salty to my taste. I totally recommend trying something new and different from these guys! You may find a new love.

Not to be dramatic, but I would fight a bear to relive that moment. I'm not exaggerating. With that first bite, my soul briefly left my body. Angels wept. A single beam of light descended from the heavens and landed directly on my plate. Somewhere in the distance, a bald eagle screeched. I don't know who or what was in the back of that food truck cooking that sandwich, but I'm thinking it must have been God himself. I'm kicking myself for staying in the truck to be a passenger princess while my husband got out and ordered. Seriously guys, every bite made me weak in the knees--like, I had to steady myself against the table as I ate. My husband and I looked at each other dead in the eyes after the first bite, and we both just sat there in stunned silence, chewing like we were in the final scene of a romance movie. Im embarrassed to share the sounds we were making with every bite. Let's just say if someone had walked past us, they would've 100% assumed something deeply inappropriate was happening. Like, WHAT IS IN THIS FREAKING SANDWICH?! The crunch. The heat. The sauce. Omg the sauce. I will be dreaming about that sauce for the rest of my life. Now, I have to admit, as with all good things, there is also sorrow. And the sorrow hit hard. Because as I took my last bite of that heaven-sent sandwich, I realized: I will never again experience the first bite of that perfect sandwich ever again. Never. Sure, I can return every single day for the rest of my life, but that first moment. It's gone. And it's never coming back. But, as the wise once said, it's better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all. So do yourself a favor, go get this sandwich, and you can thank me later as you rise into the heavens with that first bite.

This evening I was not in a mood to cook, and wanted to try something new. Lucky for me, a food…read moretruck was in the front of the neighborhood. The wife and I had heard great things about it, so we took little trip. We arrived and perused the menu outside of the truck. A lot of delicious looking things on the menu. Burgers, birria tacos, yummy looking fries, lots of good stuff. Near the front of the truck a separate menu saying it was burger week, so we opted to try a burger. A friendly face, presumed to be the owner, greeted us and took our order. The wife ordered a single patty smash burger with all of the fixin's to include jalapeños for $15. I noticed a breakfast burger on the menu, so I inquired what was on it. One patty, cheese, a fried egg, bacon, and a hash brown patty. All of my favorite things on one burger. Also, for $16, that seemed like a good deal. In good time, we were summoned to the truck for our order. The fella who took my order informed me he had forgotten to let me know that a spicy strawberry jelly came on my burger as well and asked if that was ok. I am generally not a big fan of jelly, so I politely declined. Unfortunately, the burger was already made, so he requested the cook to remake the burger. Not wanting to wait for another burger I told them I would give it a try. He insisted remaking it would not be a problem, but I opted to try it anyhow. We strolled back to the house and got right to it. I grabbed my burger and forgot about the fried egg. The egg popped and seeped all on the plate before I got a bite. Whoops. Anyhow, the first few bites of my burger were delicious. Juicy, and seasoned very well. Bacon was cooked right and was not rubbery. The hash brown was also a great addition and tasty. About the third bite I got the strawberry jelly. The jelly was good, but it overpowered the burger. The sweetness distracted me from the juicy burger, and annoyed my tastebuds. I tried to scrape the jelly off of the burger, but the burger was saturated with it. I ate about half of the burger and gave up on it. My hands were also very sticky, so I had to stop eating it because it was just too much. I finished eating my fries and watched my wife finish her burger. To be fair, they did offer to remake it. So, the jelly fiasco is on me. I own up to that, and will not ding this review because of it. That being said, I cannot wait for them to visit my neighborhood again. I definitely will be having them again. The food was great, and I loved the whole food truck vibe. If you see this guy in your neighborhood, give them a try. Shop local, and keep these guys in business. Enjoy!
