I had the chicken basil sandwich, which came with homemade chips. The sandwich was like a fresh caprese sandwich on whole grain bread with chicken breast and red onion. Very tasty! My sweet sweet basil. Hmmmm. One of my favorite food trucks. I don't go to La Cumbre because of this food truck, but it doesn't hurt when they are there. So that's a good spot to catch them at if you need a fix. As most food trucks, their menu isn't always the same. I've yet to see them offer what they had on their menu the first time i tried their fare. It was some sort of bean and chorrizo taco which was was amazing. I also made it a point to come by and participate in a food pairing they collaborated on with La Cumbre on another occasion. It was absolutely phenomenal. I most recently had their version of a Cubano which was nothing less than i expected. Just plain tasty. I battled the decision to be just flat out gluttonous and also order the Meatloaf Sandwich that was on the menu....because i dont know when i'll see it on the menu again and it just sounded soooo good. It's okay. I can wait for a good thing. That I will happily do for a treat from my sweet basil. Their food is made fresh with good quality ingredients. You can tell by the look and the taste. Yuuum, deliciousness. This food truck was parked at the Rail Yards Holiday Market, and the long line was almost a deterrent, until I realized they had carnitas tots on their menu. And I'll admit, the wait was pretty long, but the food was so worth it. For $10, they really load up on tots, cheesy goodness, and meat. There's no skimping on toppings here, and everything definitely tastes fresh. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro and jalapeños, so please don't just my photo of those toppings picked off. Still worth it. This is one of my favorite food trucks. They serve very classy(?) dishes. They're unique and have their own twist of flavor for each of their dishes. One of the first things I have had from them are the fish tacos (which I have not seen or had again, so sad). They were probably some of the best fish tacos I have had. I love catching them at La Cumbre on Tuesdays just to try something new because I know anything on the menu is going to be fantastic. Last week, I did have the fried artichokes. I was not too sure of what to expect. They were fairly good. The only thing I would discredit from those was the saltiness of the batter. The food was mediocre the second time I ate there, when the server asked how my meal was , I said the gorditas were dry so he got offended! Why ask? If you don't want to hear the truth! The gorditas fell apart and if they were any drier they'd turn to dust! The filling was lame and dry , don't order them! Wow. Haven't had as good a food truck since the OG Supper Truck hit my lips. Sweet Basil may have just took tops in abq food truck scene. Locally grown, and organic, this food is honest and hearty. We ordered the Cubano, fried pickles, watermelon, and nachos. The Cubano was hands down the best thing we ordered. Super thick and juicy pulled pork, a slab of ham, and finished with bold mustard. Really really good. You could have ordered the sandwich alone. It was so filling. It came out wrapped in paper, tied with a string. Seriously!? You had me with the cuteness factor, topped with a hand-stamped "Thank you"--this is home. The fries were perfectly cooked and may have been dusted with sugar and salt. The fries pickles were great, served with a chipotle ranch. They were the thin slices variety but excellent nonetheless. The watermelon was a nice little side, especially for my little boy and a dessert palate cleanser. Summer all the way. The nachos had a green chile queso, hand cut tortilla chips, fresh sliced jalapeño, cilantro, a simple but fresh guacamole (not enough), and tons of pulled pork. Very yummy. And a lot a lot of food!! Hungry and hoping the food truck that was serving would have a no meat menu item since this good Catholic Girl follows the Lenten Calendar. Sweet Basil was delicious. I am absolutely in love with this food truck. They've only been open two months. I had the opportunity to try them when I as at Marble Westside Taproom today. We tried their Pulled Pork Nachos and Cubano. I honestly cannot say enough about how delicious the food was. The pulled pork was straight outta heaven. The nachos were smothered in a green chile queso, avocado pico de gallo, fresh tomatoes, and pulled pork. The chips are handmade and hand cut. These are seriously the best nachos I've ever had. The Cubano is phenomenal. It had hearty ham and a generous helping of their pulled pork, thinly sliced pickles, Swiss cheese...the works. The only thing I'd change is to use stone ground mustard instead of yellow but holy cow it was soooooo good. They were so very friendly, everything was hot and tasty, and the special sounded to die for as well. These guys use produce from two local farms, which is awesome. My only suggestion (other than being picky about the mustard) is to put some printed menus out on the tables/bar. I saw a ton of people order from the Ironwood Kitchen next door and they would have had MUCH better food if they had seen a menu from My Sweet Basil. Wow really saddened by the customer service today. We made a special trip just to eat My Sweet Basil for lunch and were let down royally. Ordered the potato and chorizo gorditas with chicharon chips. All I can say is have a beverage on stand by, super dry! My chips flew away during delivery, lame! When the server asked how everything was, we gave our honest opinion. The server said he'd bring more chips but never delivered. The staff was loudly commenting on our feedback and it was tacky to say the least! Not sure when we'll return. read more

I just can't help but appreciate the local flavor and love put into the items at the various markets in Albuquerque and New Mexico for that matter. Especially when there are places that really deliver when it comes the food they prepare. When I stop for a bit of the old brunch is time around, I would have ever thought that I would embrace my millennial branding and order some Avocado Toast for (technical) brunch.
