My friends and I were originally headed to Sonny's, but there was a two hour wait so someone suggested we try this restaurant instead and I'm glad we did. It was a 10 out of 10 experience overall. The service was fine but the food really stood out. I ordered the burger and fries which were surprisingly delicious. The chips and queso were also really good which says a lot since I'm not usually a chips and queso person. Prices were very reasonable as well which we all appreciated. My friend ordered the mini crab cakes and loved them especially because they weren't heavily breaded. Hatch Cafe and Bistro is one of those places that immediately makes you slow down and settle in. Tucked into two charming former homes it feels like a Hill Country escape even though it is just minutes from 281. We stopped in for brunch and everything delivered. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with avocado bacon and eggs on a buttery croissant and paired it with fresh fruit. Simple on paper but executed beautifully. Every bite was rich balanced and satisfying. My husband went with the salad and it was genuinely impressive. The presentation was gorgeous and the dressing deserves its own spotlight. It was bold bright and absolutely addictive. Their coffee also stood out. I still do not know where they source it but I will be going back to find out because it was smooth flavorful and memorable. I haven't eaten here in a while. They have added more areas to eat as they've gotten more popular which is nice. But the server still didn't seem to be "present." I told him I didn't eat pork, and he replied he could add ham instead. Ok.... I had to remind him ham is pork. They did substitute a chicken breast upon my request. I then asked him which of the two coffees had more foam (froth), and he couldn't tell me. So I just went with the Americano. The Sandwich and coffee were both good, but nothing out of this world. I came in today for a nice lunch while getting some computer work done. I noticed there was a "Hatch Guest" wifi name that was protected with a password, so I went to ask the hostess the wifi password and 5 minutes later she comes back explaining that they don't have a wifi password. When ordering, I asked my server if the chips were made in house.. she said "yes" so that's what I got with my sandwich. I thought $18 was pretty high for a club sandwich with chips- but if it's house-made.. I was more open to trying. I was disappointed when the plate came with lays chips on it- so I asked another lady if the chips were made in house.. and she said "give me one moment" and left, never came back to answer my question. If it wasn't for me waving down the server while she was leaning on the counter on her phone, I honestly would've just walked out considering I didn't even eat or drink any of the $26 that went down the drain today. Very disappointed for my first time experience at this place, that wasn't even busy. When I got there, I saw that there were a lot of people and I was worried that we would be waiting for a long time. Nope! We were seated and served right away. They have a really big menu with lots to try. My mother-in-law had a kolache which was top-notch. The outside restaurant has that small town county charm that I sure attracts locals, but finding this on Yelp got us here. The removal of one star would have to be for the main dishes. My French toast was not very hot at all, the flavor would good but could've been amazing if it was hot fresh off the pan. It seemed like it was brought out about 5 minutes after it was done. Also, my husband got the breakfast croissant sandwich with turkey, egg, and cheese and the egg was very unevenly distributed. The sandwich was cut in half and almost all the egg was on one half. His food also wasn't very hot, which was strange because there was only one other couple in there with us so it wasn't super busy at that moment. The sandwiches were good (fresh and made from scratch), but at the end of the day, they are turkey sandwiches lol. Turkey sandwiches are not worth $17 a piece in my opinion. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience absolutely warrants one. Due to a recent car accident, I hadn't been out of the house in weeks. A couple of friends wanted to take me out to breakfast, and we chose The Hatch. One friend had never been there, and I hadn't been back since the expansion. Unfortunately, this visit was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Our waiter, Carlos, set the tone immediately -- and not in a good way. It took an unreasonably long time for him to even acknowledge our table and take drink orders. My friends ordered coffee but I ordered a Coke. He brought me coffee instead, apparently assuming that because my friends ordered coffee, I must have wanted it too. The coffee was barely warm. When my friends mentioned this, instead of fixing the issue, Carlos became argumentative, insisting the coffee was cold because of the creamer they used. He actually picked up the creamer and shook it at my friend while explaining, which was rude, condescending, and completely inappropriate. I then had to ask four more times for the Coke I originally ordered before it was finally brought to the table. When the bill arrived, I was charged for both the coffee and the Coke. I calmly explained that I did not order the coffee and did not drink it. Carlos snapped back, "Well if you didn't order it, what is that right there?" while pointing to the untouched coffee cup. He seemed visibly irritated that I expected my bill to be corrected. To top it all off, we were rushed out almost immediately after finishing our food. Carlos took our payments and told us we needed to leave because he needed the table for other guests. While I understand the restaurant is busy and others may have been waiting, being told outright to leave was shocking and incredibly unprofessional! The food itself was good -- which makes the service even more disappointing. Spending nearly $80 on breakfast should not come with hostility, incorrect charges, and being treated like an inconvenience. Management should seriously evaluate how their servers interact with patrons and provide additional training. Good food does not excuse poor service, and this level of treatment is unacceptable. read more

We happened to be in the area so I did a search of good places for lunch and we are so happy we decided to come here. What a beautiful and well run place. Excellent service, fantastic food, lots of parking, and fast, it's everything you want in a lunch place. I was totally blown away at how good everything was. I got a breakfast with some eggs and waffles, and the waffles were perfect - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness.
