This is a combination review of Hwy 17 and W. Ashley locations. I have to be honest, had I seen these reviews before, I'm not so sure I would have gone here, but my niece knew someone who had boarded their dogs here and didn't have a bad experience and we were in a real bind. Here's my story: My planned pet sitter bailed on me with less than a week before my trip, so I needed a quick plan of action and, like I said someone I knew also knew someone who had boarded their dogs at the "Mt. Pleasant location" (not specified which one) and I recalled having been told this was a good place to get a dog groomed as well from someone. (Obviously didn't check my yelp directory first). Contacted the Hwy 17 location, told them of my predicament and they advised me that I needed to bring the dog in for a trial daycare prior to boarding. Mind you, I am calling over the weekend and I will need to bring in my pup on Wednesday afternoon due to an early Thursday morning flight. So, I fill in all the paperwork, bring my dog in Monday, all goes well, blah blah blah, but THEN they tell me they do not have any suites available for the time we will be gone, only kennels (cages). They say I am free to call any other location to see if they have suites available and it will be no problem to switch my reservation. I contact the W. Ashley location and, they say they have room, yes a suite, but, no, I do have to bring my dog in for a trial day care at their location, different dogs, different layout, blah blah blah.... Drop off and pick up here do not go so well. I have to say the people working the front desk at this location are not the brightest I have ever met. No one was expecting me for her drop off, or her pick up, it was a mess! Then, I get a call from Taylor, the manager, who is all confused about what is going on, I explain the situation to her, she finally understands and sorts out the situation. So - kudos to Taylor. She made the best out of a messy situation. Even at dropoff on Wednesday, it just didn't go that smoothly, the "system shows someone in her suite", etc. nothing could go smoothly. At pickup same thing, I had a 10% off first boarding and the young woman didn't know how to take the discount. So, I give them four stars because they really helped me in a bind and my dog was fine when I got home. However, this place clearly needs some work on its staff training. read more

There's something going on at this place. I took my dog twice for daycare prior to having him boarded. Both times he was acting off, and i figured he was just nervous because of the new environment. I took a tour of the facility and it was pretty gross - wreaked of urine. I had to board him for four days. I was nervous, so called on day 2 to see how he was doing. They said he was definitely nervous and shy on day 1, but he came out of his shell on day 2 and was doing great. When I went to pick him up, they told me he wouldn't eat. I was shocked that no one called me to tell this. He lost 7 pounds while he was there! Went from 62 to 55. Please listen to the reviews and do your research. There have been several dogs who have died under the care of this place. Go somewhere else! read more

My three dogs always does an excellent job with my dog chief.! They go out of their way to make sure he is well taken care of. Great communication for any issues that arise makes things very easy! They definitely care about their customers and pets! They offered to open early to accommodate Chief when my mother's funeral started during their closed time. I am as fussy about my dog groomer as I am about my hair stylist ... that's why I love My Three Dogs! They listen (meaning no surprises) and it's clear that their groomers know what they are doing ... as two months later, Teddy's hair is growing out ... evenly. I love the fact that they are efficient and I can get my precious boy in and out without impacting my day. I drop him off, discuss the 'do for the season (beach-short in the summer ... making sure it will be longer for pictures with Santa in December) and one hour later, he's back in my arms ... squeaky clean, smelling great and very happy. Though we don't do the full 'spa' package, it's still not cheap ... $45.00 for a basic shampoo and cut, $10.00 to grind his toe nails and $5.00 to drain his glands (I brush his teeth everyday at home) plus tip ... but, it's so worth it ... just to see the smile on his Dad's face when we get home! read more

Do not use this My Three Dogs for grooming! Ever! I had a 8 am appointment today tor my dog and began calling them at 7:30am to tell them my husband might be a few minutes late, as he just called me that he was lost. I could not get through as all I got was a busy signal for over 45 minutes. I finally sent them a text explaining what was going on. At 8:15am, they called me in response to my text to tell me I had to reschedule because I was more than 10 minutes late!!! Then yo add insult to injury, I was told my $47 deposit would NOT be returned!! They take the deposit at the time you make an appointment and do NOT inform you of any policy related to keeping your deposit! How can you be held responsible for the time when you cannot get through to talk to anyone? I did speaker with the regional manager and asked her if they were having phone trouble this morning and that is why I could not get through? Very poor customer services and not very Willing to listen to their clients. read more

I've been grooming my lovey dovey beautifully shaggy Sheepadoodle with the highway 17 location for over a year and have LOVED them. Kelsey is hands down the best groomer in the world and I always her work, Kido was always a happy beautiful boy at pick up! But last week I decided to board my boy with them for 4 days - and it was the worst decision and biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I would give ANYTHING to go back and hire a dog sitter to come to our home instead. The fluffy beautiful boy I dropped off was returned to me muddy, skinny, matted, curly haired and wet. I was absolutely shocked when I reached down to pet him - as he was matted worse then I had ever seen in my entire life. I don't even understand how it could have happened - there was Mat on top of mat from head to neck to ears to shoulders to tummy and legs. My poor boy was curly haired and muddy and biting himself and itching like crazy. Apparently they let him get completely soaked in the pool and hose in the back and go to bed wet and nasty each night. Anyone who works with shaggy dogs should know you CANNOT let them get wet like that and not brush or Blowdry or at LEAST towel dry them... it can actually cause skin issues and give them hot spots and mold issues. I honestly can't believe the state he came home in, it was so bad I cried. I tried for 4.5 hours to brush him and cut mats out but still ended up deciding to take him back for a bath and clean up the next day, since he smelled so badly. When he got there they said they called me and said they had no choice but to shave him. Thanks A LOT for that guys. Now they want to charge me $135 for a shaving - because they didn't take proper care of him while I was paying to board him, even though I had JUST gotten him groomed with them a week or so before. My dog doesn't even look like himself, and I've honestly never been so flabbergasted and shocked by a situation in my life. If I was the manager or owner there I would be apologizing like a maniac, taking a look at my boarding policies, and hands down refunding the full board and "groom". This has caused me nothing but stress, HOURS of work, and now my fluffy sweet boy looks so skinny and shaved I could cry. If you have a shaggy dog or care about them being clean and taken care of when you pick up - do NOT board here. Worst mistake. Lesson learned. read more

Planned to bring my cocker spaniel here once a week. When we looked on the webcams, we noticed our dog was in with the smaller "less active" breeds. She's 35lbs and used to playing with larger dogs in general, and for several hours our dog was in the small room with nothing to do, and no one playing with them. She was in the same spot hours later before we finally called and asked that she be placed outside with the bigger dogs as they have an obstacle course, kiddie pools, and an attendant there. They expressed that she was timid and didn't want to risk it. She was probably timid because she was stuck in a concrete box for several hours.... Decided we didn't want to spend $25 a day on something she could have just done at home for free, and at least she would have a couch and some pillows to lounge on at home. read more

After much research and reading all the "good" reviews, we chose to leave our fur baby with My Three Dogs, Hwy 17. Unfortunately, what a BIG mistake we made. We will start by saying we are very grateful for web cams, because if not, we would never have known how our fur baby was treated when we entrusted her to this facility. To book a boarding for Labor Day weekend we had to first do a trial temperament stay for a day care morning for $15 which we had no problem doing. On Thursday, September 1st, we dropped our girl off at 8:00 am and picked her up at noon. We continuously watched the cameras during these four hours to be sure she was doing ok, not once did we see a human go in, interact, clean or play with any of the small dogs in the daycare. Upon our return to pick our baby up, we asked why no one had been in with the small dogs and were informed by the young lady behind the counter that "we are understaffed and have no one to go in there". Per your website information I copied the following directly ~~~frequent attention and care from our staff your pet is in great hands! Being away from home isn't easy on anyone, but it is our mission to make it as cozy, safe, and positive for your pup as possible.~~~ lots of FALSE advertisement!!! We believed what you advertised and are from out-of-town so at this time, it would be very difficult for us to find a new place to board our fur baby. That afternoon, I called again and spoke with a different individual and was told that it was just that one day incident and that someone would be caring for them during the day over the weekend. Well that was also a BIG LIE! On Friday, September 2, at 2:00 pm we came to leave our girl and again I spoke with the women at the front desk and told her of my concerns about interaction, human supervision and overall care of the small dogs and she assured me that it was a one time incident and I had nothing to worry about. Again LIES, LIES, LIES. We continuously checked the webcam on Friday, September 2nd after we left till around 7:00 pm that evening and all during the day on Saturday September 3rd. There were no more than 5 people, 2 on Friday and maybe 3 on Saturday that went in that room to spend any time and while in there they didn't once interact, or show any kind of care or affection to any of those puppies. I did notice.a water spray bottle being used that was totally unnecessary! The most difficult part of this weekend for us presented itself on Sunday, September 4 in the late afternoon (see pictures below, I've purposely. removed face so hopefully they won't be removed but you can see by the pose what's happening) as we watch the webcams and saw this individual employee in with the small dogs and we saw him not once but twice SHOVE with his hands two small pups off of him (yes one of them was mine) as they reached up to get his attention and then even worse as one of the larger dogs came over to play with him this individual used the bottom of his shoe to SHOVE him off because obviously, he was to busy on his phone to pay any attention to the puppies he was suppose to be "supervising, interacting with or providing affection too." At this moment had we not been so far away, we would have immediately driven to pick up our baby but it was not humanly possible for us to get there before they closed. We did not call to inform them either, for fear that our baby would be made to pay for our complaint! First thing on Monday morning, pups were not even out of their crates yet, we arrived to pick up my fur baby. The stench of urine and dog feces was horrendous. I informed the same women who on Friday had assured me that they took wonderful care of our babies and they had lots of attention, of the incident of Sunday afternoon and showed her the pictures. She nonchalantly told me she knew who the employee was, was glad I told her as she rolled her eyes with the attitude of why are you bothering me with this. I am well aware that nothing can be done after the fact, just think twice about leaving you fur baby in this facility read more

I tried this place for the first time, called their Coleman location, they had me bring my dog for an "assessment" for 4 hours which I have never heard of in all my life of boarding which cost $15 but I did and they told me that he was approved for my reservation dates coming up. I go to take him to the facility the day before my family's flight for a 6-day trip to Disney only to find out they had no record of my reservation. This made me livid but they were able to find me the very last spot at the HWY 17 location, so I took him there as that was my last and ONLY choice on a holiday week. I walk in and am completely blasted with a vastly potent, nauseating urine and feces smell that completely overtook the lobby. I almost walked right out. Never in my life have I smelled a boarding facility THAT bad in the lobby. EVER. Yet thanks to their incompetence I had NO CHOICE but to lend my healthy Doberman over to them for the week. The yard out back is sealed off from onlookers because that too is disgusting. I know because I looked through the fence. They didn't even mention once to me that they have webcams I could check in on my dog. That would have been nice to know. I didn't have time to buy him extra food so I brought the last 2-3 days worth I had, and asked them to use that and mix in their brand food to make it last the week, at an additional cost. Yet my dog came home emancipated with his ribs and backbone showing!!! I will never return to this dump ever again!!! read more

My friend's poodle, Mouf, attended doggie daycare here on 4/29/14. When my friend went to pick her up, Mouf was DEAD! She was bitten by another dog. To make things worse, My Three Dogs is letting the dog that bit Mouf come back. This facility is not trained to handle these types of circumstances. It seems they do not have procedures in place for emergency situations. There are three locations in Charleston; none require their staff to be CPR/First Aid trained. The animal emergency clinic recorded that the manager of My Three Dogs called saying that she was "totally freaked out". Please think twice before bringing your loved furbaby here. read more

I boarded my dog at the 1606 Highway 17 location for a weekend away. When I went to pick her up they gave me food back. They didn't feed her a whole day that I was gone! Worst place ever! Terrible grooming experience. I have brought my border collie here twice. The first cut was not too bad, but this last time she was completely shaved! I clearly asked them not to cut it short. I could have given the cut she got with my beard trimmers. To make matter worse when I mentioned they cut it too short though I asked them not to, the clerk replied, "it will grow back." I scheduled a grooming appointment for my ten pound Yorkie. Somehow they mixed the scheduling up with one of their other locations. I was told there would be someone there at 6:30 so I could drop my dog off and head straight to work. No one showed up until right before 7. They did not make it clear which shots my dog needed just to be groomed. He is up to date on all his shots, had his records, but was missing the Bordetella shot. I tried to inform them he does not get a booster because of his age. He also has never been boarded. They would not let him stay after I had waited there for an hour and was already late for work. I had to call out of work and asked if he could get groomed. I would sit and wait then take him with me. That was not an option so I drove all the way there, waited an hour, had to call out of work, and my dog still did not get groomed. I was very disappointed with the way they handled the situation and their lack of help. I will not be taking my dog here ever again and I will make sure others are aware of the lack of respect this establishment has. read more

We have a mastiff mix and terrier mix who stayed at this facility for four nights. When we picked them up, they were very dirty (which I understand; it's a boarding facility) so we bathed them after our 3.5 hour drive home. We found awful lesions around our mastiff's neck, and a few sores on his head and down his back. He itched terribly and smelled like rotting flesh. We took him to the vet the next morning and learned that they were deep epidermal infections. He's currently on steroids, an antibiotic, and we give him daily baths with a medical shampoo. We had to send some of the puss from the lesions to a lab, where it was discovered that four different types of bacteria had infected his skin. I called My Three Dogs simply to inform them of what happened. While there are a few different ways our dog could have contracted the infection, he's never had issues with his skin before and it's no coincidence that they started at a boarding facility. It's likely that his skin remained moist for a long stretch of time. It was a rainy week, and he has a thick double coat and lots of skin. I get it. The person on the phone was polite, and understandably quick to distance My Three Dogs from the skin condition. They said that they had never had an issue before and that they didn't see anything wrong with my dog while he was there. Frankly, though, he had (still has) bumps all along his head and neck. While they aren't immediately visible, they're easily detectable to the touch. I understand that these things happen. It was a rainy week, and I have a dog with droopy skin and thick fur, who stayed there in early August, when the facility was crowded. If we had boarded him somewhere else, the same thing might have happened. Who knows. I gave My Three Dogs two stars because they were polite on the phone and my other dog seemed okay upon pickup. My mastiff's condition is likely an outstanding case, but if it happened to someone else, I would want to be aware of this account while shopping for a boarding facility. read more

We take our beloved golden doodle everywhere...he is truly our son. We unexpectedly found ourselves needing to take him to a groomer after he had some fun in the ocean. We met the owner and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable . They did a fantastic job bathing him. Since we were visiting the local area, we were a bit apprehensive of taking him to an unfamiliar place. The staff took the time to bond with him and he warmed up to them quickly. My favorite aspect of this doggy day care was the camera that allowed us to check in and watch him...that was great! This was my second time boarding my dog at My Three Dogs and I was very disappointed with the way he was returned to me. He was there for about a week. The day before picking him up I called to confirm the bath that he was going to get at which time they said yes, but they wouldn't be able to get the matting out of his chest. I wasn't really sure what they were saying so I just said okay and proceeded to pick him up the following day. When I first picked him up, he was still a little wet from his bath and stunk a little bit. There was a long line of people picking up their dogs though so I decided to just take him home. When I got home, I realized the matting they were talking about. His entire chest was full of matted hair. Large clumps all over it. After looking at it more it turned out it was covering a huge rash that he had underneath of it. The dog obviously needed some brushing out of the chest after playing in the water all day. The next morning I had to take him to the vet where they had to shave the matting off of his chest and showed the severity of his rash. He was prescribed a steroid and an antibiotic as well as some antifungal foam for his treatment. I called My Three Dogs to complain to them and the first woman I spoke with pushed it up to the manager. The two things that really bothered me were one, they said that the matting may not have been realized until the day he left. This was obviously not true considering the girl I spoke with a few days prior told me about the matting. And two, they said they didn't brush it out because that costs extra money. This really set me off because they could have called me to ask if I wanted to pay for that in which case I happily would have. Then they decided to give him the shower (yes I know I requested it but didn't know that he had serious matting and a rash) and made the situation that much worse. Honestly everyone I talked to was very nice there, I just wouldn't trust them with my dog ever again. And I made that very clear to them. I didn't ask for money even after the 250 vet bill. When it got up to the owner they decided they wanted to "make the situation right" by offering me credits towards more stays and to their groomer. I told them that was pretty disappointing that they thought that that would make it "right." I have quite a few issues with this place with the big one being how they didn't really look after my dog. That is no way to return a dog. He stunk and was mopey for a week. The matting was definitely multiple days of caking on top of itself. It was definitely noticeable and all he needed was to be brushed after playing in the water during the day. All they needed to do was call me and tell me. I will never use them again under any circumstance. I partially blame myself for not listening to their below average reviews. Please look elsewhere before you decide to use their services. We have been boarding our two dogs at the two Mount Pleasant locations since they were tiny puppies. Our dogs are eight (male) and four (female). All of a sudden, after many, many thousands of dollars in boarding, they have decided they could no longer board our female dog. They said she "doesn't play well" with the other dogs. They made this note in their computer system so we are now banned from all of their locations. As soon as they told that we were no longer welcome, after at least eight years of regular boarding, we called our Vet and they helped us find another boarding location. We do not recommend My Three Dogs. There are better and more welcoming boarding facilities in Mount Pleasant. read more

Well I just moved to Mt Pleasant and was looking for a place to have my dog groomed. I made an appointment for a Saturday at 8am, I showed up to the place on coleman and found nobody there to answer the door, I knocked several times and a lot of dogs came running to the door I heard someone yelling in the back at the dogs but they never came to the door. I called and left a message, I was called back right away by Lindsey who told me my appt was scheduled at the other location and gave me directions to it. I showed up at the other location and this is where the nightmare began. I went to the door same thing as the last location locked and no sign for grooming where to drop off, I walked to the side door and opened it and walked in a young girl came and greeted me and asked me what I needed I told her I had a appt for grooming at 8 but went to the wrong location. She asked me who groomed my dog I told her this was my first time here she told me to wait and she would go get someone. After 5 min a short haired blonde girl came and asked me what I needed I explained to her I had an appt for 8 to have my dog groomed and I had went to the other location and found out my appt was at this location. She said "It is not at this one and we are perturbed that they sent you here you are going to have to sign a waiver in case something tragic happens to your dog" I said tragic what could happen she is here for grooming. "well just in case you have to sign it." She went into the office and then told me she would have to get her manager she did not know where it was. Her manager came out and I said I am a little freaked out right now about this waiver for something tragic to happen to my dog and she told me not to worry its standard and nothing would happen. I told her you know I do not have a good feeling about leaving my dog with you guys, you are not happy that I am here since I did not have an appt and now this tragic waiver to sign I will not be leaving my dog with you guys. I asked for my vet records to find a new place to take my dog. They could not find them after they already told me they were in the computer that they must be at the other location where my appt is. I never write reviews but felt the need to speak up since our dogs cant tell us what goes on. What I saw when I went in the employee door was not a pretty site. If you take your dog here maybe sometime you should go in that side door after hours and see what's going on. read more

I joined Yelp just so that I could write this review. I left my 5lb 6 month old Havanese here while I went to California for 4 days. I wrote out a very detailed list of instructions, which I was told they lost when I went to go pick up my dog. After bringing him home, he started vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. I rushed him to the emergency vet at 2AM that same night where he was put on an IV and kept until 5PM the next day. 1K dollars in vet bills later, I brought him home and he was still acting not right a week later. Another trip to the vet determined that he had a UTI and infections in both of his eyes. He is FINALLY doing better 16 days after being picked up from My Three Dogs. I was going to write this review earlier but this has been an extremely sad and emotional thing for me to deal with. I love my dog. I took the time to write out a very specific list of instructions for him which were disregarded. I also called after he got sick to ask if any virus was going around or if he might have been fed the wrong food and was told absolutely not BUT that my dog did not eat dinner the night before i picked him up or breakfast the day of. Had I not called, I would not have been told this. Unacceptable. Please do not bring your dogs here. Their attention to detail is appalling. After sharing my horror story with friends at the dog park, they also told me that a dog was killed here this month. Left my dogs there for a week. They quoted me one rate before I left them and then charged me a higher rate when I picked them up. They were filthy and smelled very bad. We had to roll the window down just to get them home. Then bath them right away. Bedding was the same way. I really enjoy My Three Dogs! They seemed to take care of my pup. However, they told me that my dog was too much for them, that's okay, I know my dog has a big personality. What I didn't like, though, was that when I picked him up, they told me he wasn't welcome back and that perhaps a kennel would be a better suit for him. While I have nothing but good things to say about the other locations, the Hwy 17 location should really work on their communication. They had told me that my dog had progressively gotten worse (like I said, big personality, he's not for everyone, I know that). I would've liked a heads up, some warning, maybe some suggestions on what I can do so I can continue to be a customer rather than just a "see you later".
