I saw this thrift store as I turned off Wheelock to Rice Street. I returned and checked out the merch. I found an Aurora stuffed grinch in a bag with 3 other stuffies that I'll donate to an assisted living for bingo prizes. I also found brand new lobster and crab leg crackers in a package. The place reminded me of Unique. The prices were high on some items. Self checkout and guy working hovered as I checked out my 2 items. Not a great feeling. Might return if in area again. read more

Overpriced items in my opinion but has some cuter shoes and clothes than I've seen at other thrift shops. Lots to look at. Lots of being looked at, as they watch you like hounds, especially during self checkout. If you want to stand right by us and stare down at us, please just doing the checking out yourself. MyThrift has become one of my favorite thrift stores; it's not picked over like a lot of Goodwills are, they have a huge store with tons of items, & things are generally fairly priced. I don't know why folks in other reviews are complaining about pricing, as it's at least on par with other thrift stores. I will say, I knocked a star off because of their 'no tag, no sale' policy. I understand that people will sometimes try to game the system by removing a price tag, but refusing to sell something to an honest buyer because it may have been missed when tagging is a bummer. Overall, though, I will continue to shop MyThrift & will always recommend it to my friends! read more

My son-in-law and grandson and I had some time to waste so we decided to go thrifting. We happened upon My Thrift Store and it was huge! Plenty of offstreet parking. Tons of household stuff, clothes, and shoes. There were some really good finds, including some pretty nice Nike Jordans, just sad that they weren't in my size. Pricing was pretty decent, a little high on some stuff, but still better than retail. Quite a big selection - seriously, we wasted about two hours in here. It was pretty crowded and they don't have actual shopping carts, which was disappointing. They have little plastic totes on wheels that you pull with a handle and for me having some mobility issues, it would've been much nicer to have a shopping cart to hang onto. It is all self checkout. It was crowded at checkout, and the registers are not spaced far enough apart, so that got to be a bit of a challenge, but all in all, it was a fun experience, and we will definitely be back. read more

Ok pricing and ok staff. Nothing too bad, nothing too good. HATE the self checkout area as every single time we have gone we have had issues with the technology (not scanning correctly, losing everything we scanned, overcharging, straight up not connecting). Clothing is a bit steeply priced and should be about half what they're charging. Will put what is assumed to be "good" items behind the glass shelf despite them being worn down and not worth the almost 60 dollars they charge for a single pair of boots. read more

This is a FOR PROFIT thrift store, meaning their prices are insane, some things cost more than they would sell for new. Although they have a lot of options, they are too scammy and slimey for me. Listen to the other reviews!!! The manager was terrible. He denied use of the dressing rooms because we "had left such a mess last time we were there". It was our first (and last) time being there. His response to us telling him we had never been was "I don't think so". Such an incredibly rude and creepy man. Pricing was inconsistent and arbitrary. This is an ok thrift shop. It's got a lot of stuff and the aisles are more organized than a lot of places. I had read other reviews that painted a bleak picture and mention rough or rude staff, but I didn't experience anything like that here. They have a lot of staff especially in the back processing donations, but just normal people that I saw. They have a lot of clothing, and customers trying on things in store was amusing. Lots of Knick knacks, some tools, CDs, piddling section of LPs, eh kids stuff, and a lot of kitchen items. Prices are generally low but a couple of knucklehead prices. Furniture was slim and overall eh level. Vibe is kind of like Unique in New Hope without the savage pricing. It's ok. Not on my must see list but I might pop in a couple of times a year. They treated me and my autistic wife horrible. Like the day before she left the house and yes I will note that she does leave the house from time to time because she is a big wanderer and that is one of the ways she copes with her autism.. but they wanted to say the day before ( 8/7/24 ) she supposedly stole something from their area after she told me that she was given the clothes and purses by an elderly Woman and she took the stuff the lady gave her and walked off property and she came back after at least 25 min because she started to have a major panic attack because i wasn't near. So everyone is clear she stays at a location that she knows I can find her when she wanders and gets overwhelmed or panics.. well she got yelled at by management and she told them repeatedly that was hers and to watch the cameras and the male recorded her and chased her all the way to the laundry mat and she was inside the laundry mat still crying and he was harassing her and still recording her... She did return home safely and was crying and freaking out whenever she got home so I calmed her down... Well the next day ( 8/8/24 )I get payed and we were going to get some things and she usually has a budget so she was walking back to find me and half way to me I hear her yell "LET ME GO!!" I came a running to her to make sure she was safe and she was like this was the guy who did the bad things and he was starting to harass me and I told him he can't judge her or discriminate against disabled people including her... Well she wanted to get the items she had picked out and they told me to wait outside store for her.. one of the managers helped her and she was very uncomfortable with them doing this including touching her stuff... Like after all this happen we get told " WE CANT NEVER EVER COME BACK TO THAT STORE!!" We are looking into lawyers for this issue.. It's funny how an individual thrift store can generally be good at carrying particular items and not so great at others. For instance, Unique Thrift on Rice St. is my go-to place for sweaters and dresses. It's never been a big hit for jeans, dress pants or short-sleeved shirts for me, and my husband finds great sports jersey/shirt/stuff and dress pants here, but not a lot in the dress shirt department. Some points to note: --There is no bathroom. Hold it, or go to the gas station across the parking lot. --They recently installed one dressing room (one single stall), so in theory, you *can* try stuff on. However, it's always busy and it's kinda. . . well, even though you're technically covered the makeshift plywood walls standing alone in the store can make you feel kind of exposed. I usually just try stuff on over my clothes in front of the mirrors--it might feel kinda weird at first, but lots of people do it here. --This store attracts the crazy, on occasion. For instance, I once had some aryan nation wanna-be come up to me while I was looking at skirts and tell me that I was, "The whitest girl he had ever seen" and talking about how "mixing races was the downfall of society." CRAZIES. Be prepared. --Pricing is cheaper than Savers by far. --Dresses. Did I mention the dresses? I almost don't want to because if you rave about your favorite restaurant the restaurant will, in theory, have enough food if more people start going there. A thrift store is a treasure hunt. You can't have my dresses! In all seriousness, I've found new-with-tags ($198) Banana Republic size small work dresses for as low as $4.95. They're pretty good with the brand-name dresses. You won't find something every time, but I've found some great Express, Limited, Maggy London, Ann Taylor, Bisou-Bisou, BCBGMaxAzria, etc. dresses. --Same with sweaters for me. You might have different clothing "sweet spots" here based on your own preferences/tastes/size/etc. Sometimes you find something there, and sometimes you don't--but the turnover is high and it's a place you can go back to every week just to look around. read more

Dang this place is good sized. I used to be a thrifty shopper back when I was in college. Then I got a job and left behind my days of $2 sweatshirts and jeans. Now I'm jobless, so I have to tiptoe back into the world of cheap goods as a form of retail therapy. Good setup, and friendly customer service run this place. I really like how they organize the pants: hanging them waist side out so you can take a gander at the size/inseam of your possibly new-ish fashion find. I'll probably head back and buy some more stuff at a later date, as it seemed moderately clean and easy to navigate. Two thumbs up for second hand goods. read more

While I'm usually armed with two holsters of purell, I find myself kind of enjoying looking for old junk and trying not to touch my eyes when they immediately start to itch when I walk in. This place even smells cheap, but the last few times I've gone, I've had a interesting enough time. I find myself laughing at the over abundance of porcelain kitsch that adorn the miles of shelving. It's always the same porcelain hang in there cats, discarded ducks, bears and partylite snowmen sharing space with old trophies, picture frames( sometimes with actual photos in them) and every imaginable hallmark gift ever manufactured. For all the Chicagoans, they even had Atty PC in a box which J said was like the Peter Francis Geraci edition. Once in awhile there are some good finds ( old toys, tapes, CD's) Just depends. Came to the store with a reusable bag & was going to buy 3 items. The woman working at the register & a woman working in a wheel chair didn't understand the reusable bag, said "you just don't do that" & took a picture of me & asked to leave my items. It rang up as $14 so it wasn't a big deal but have never felt disrespected like that will never be coming back read more

I am watching this woman reem the manager in the parking lot for accusing her of stealing. Based on today's experience, I really think this store is a con operation. Here's why. There were two metal dog bowls that we wanted. When I checked out, found out one was priced $4.99 and the other $6.99. The two bowls were EXACTLY the same. I questioned the cashier who was helpless to do anything about it. She called a supervisor who gave me a song and dance routine by saying different people processed and priced the items and that's why the prices were different. He wouldn't bring the second one down to $4.99. Extremely poor. Then my visually impaired daughter bought a card table. I purchased the table and when we put it in the car one of the legs fell off. So I marched back into the store and demanded my money back not more than two minutes later. The store manager was called this time and she said I couldn't get a refund and that it was my responsibility to check the merchandise out. All sales final. Well, I think it is the store responsibility to check their merchandise before they put it on the floor for suckers like me to buy. My daughter can't see well enough to tell if it was broken or not. This store clearly didn't check the merchandise so they are intentionally selling defective merchandise that I wouldn't have given away in that condition. I feel like calling the Attorney General for resolution as this operation is a criminal fraud. So you have been warned, If you choose to buy from My Thrift Store, use a credit card. Do not use a debit card or cash. At least with a credit card, you can call the card company to dispute the charge. read more

Tried to buy shorts but the tag fell off when I tried them on, and the man refused to sell them to me even though I had the tag - and then he continued to ignore me while I was talking to him. Very arrogant white man - never seen him work there before but he needs to be retrained or fired immediately. Let me begin by saying I do not like garage or yard sales at all so why would I like any thrift store right? Please take that into consideration as you read my review. I would have never stepped foot in here, except my daughter's friend had told her she finds some cool things at this store, so we wandered in on a late Saturday afternoon. As soon as I entered, I wanted to leave but I thought I would be a good sport and look a little while my daughter tried to find her treasures.... I agree with other reviewers that this place is full of odd-balls. From what I could tell, there were a few people looking for good deals but mostly it was people who apparently do not shop online or bargain shop. Why i say this is because from what I could see, I can buy brand new items online on clearance cheaper than the prices for the used items here. I thought most the prices were way high. We left empty handed, just as I knew we would, but at least i don't think my daughter will be bugging me to go to anymore thrift stores. read more

Hands down the best large thrift store in the metro. Jeans are a third the price they are at Savers and they are better organized too. I regularly score vintage items for just hardly any cash. This store is ideally located between working class St. Paul and the suburbs. They get a nice mix of stuff. I second Lisa M's advice about bringing a measuring tape. I never shop without one here or any other thrift store. If you are shopping for jeans, measure a good-fitting pair from your closet so you can compare because this isn't really a place you want to strip down in public. read more

My Thrift Store has changed over the past five years that I started shopping here. I found a genuine mink coat for $60. I won't even tell you what Ribnick Furs offered me for the coat. The unfortunate thing is the staff. They are rude and watch you like a hawk. I don't know what kind of training they get or what they were "taught" about how to serve the American thrift customer. They light on you like flies on stink when you go to the self check-out. Before COVID-19 when the dressing rooms were open, they'd literally wait less than 4 feet from the door for you to finish using the stall. When you walked out, they would grab the clothes from, which results in a tug o' war. My Thrift Store used to sell high quality items for a good bargain. But, I've noticed the quality of the items has gone down. Some of it is like the leftovers from a church bazaar or Grandma's attic and basement. On the worst days, it's like the Goodwill Outlet stores. When White Stag and Time & Tru , George, and Dress Barn are on the label, you have to wonder where are the steals and deals on high-end designer clothing. (White Stag, George and Time & Tru are Walmart brands.) Occasionally, you can find designer labels or higher end cookware like Calphalon and Revere where pieces are not worn and beat up and sometimes newer. The furniture is a hoot. There's some awful furniture that would've been considered crappy in the original decade from whence it came. I did find a great office chair for $9 that was clean and in working condition. TIp! Always check the item because My Thrift Store has a strict return/exchange policy. Basically, the item is yours to keep once you pay for it. I hate the checkout. People put their stuff on the wrong side of the "register" thus taking away the bags that you need to put your stuff in. The staff are so quick to take away the cart once you bag your items. I almost lost my gloves when a staff person snatched it. Not sure why this is given there are dozens of baskets in the entry way. I have never seen so many Depends and Poise pads. Not even Target and MalWart sell that many pads. (yes, exaggerating). Some stuff is just butt ugly and beyond the French concept of ugly beautiful. There's kitsch, and then there's sh*t. I think they try to price items based on the label and miss a lot of times. Consider that the very same item and quality will be marked at different prices. It's funny that they don't run the homeless out but will harass you if you sit to test an object. One guy sits and pretends to read while quietly asking if you can give him money. I get a kick out of the sign that says something like "Absolutely no betel nut in the store." It's like some kind of plant based intoxicant/narcotic/. Thank you future pharmacists for correcting me. (wink) Pee before you shop. They give you a hassle about using the toilet. If you're willing to hunt a bargain and use the color coding discount chart and have a plan in mind, you can do well here. I just wish they'd go back to carrying more quality items and train their staff to be more friendly and helpful. Goodwill and Savers (when they're not closing them) are on the same track as My Thrift Store. A lot of items higher priced. Not sure if changes in the thrift market has to do with this. I remember when you really could find a pair of designer jeans in great shape for less than a department store. I can't remember the name of the thrift store that existed in this same space around 2012. Another change--they don't have a moonlighting St. Paul cop in the store anymore. There was always a squad car parked in front and a cop sitting inside. Hope things improve. It's getting so hard to find a thrift store that embodies the spirit of good thrifting. Sorry, no photos. The wheels on the little pull along carts are all broken. I gave up and just carried things in my arms. Unless you have their app and use their coupons, the prices for donated clothing and is outrageous. With the addition of the self check-out I can't even justify shopping there to help the community. I love this store and I love that they have amazing discounts. I spend a lot of my money at this store and most of the staff is very friendly but the only downside is the old woman who works behind the jewelry counter. She has to be one of the rudest people I encountered in my entire life. I am a very nice and friendly person and this woman can not smile or even say a simple "thank you" to save her life. This Unique has a great women's dress and sweater section. Within 15 minutes I found 3 dresses and several sweaters to try on. I ended up getting 2 dresses and a sweater. Had I given myself more time to look I'm pretty sure I would have found more. I didn't even go near the skirts or shirts! Coincidentally, one of the dresses I got was one I had tried on at Anthropologie about 6 months ago. It looked new still and paying $7.99 was much better than $79.99. Very happy. The other dress was a beautifully sequined dress from the late 1960's with amazing rhinestone buttons. It was $15 but definitely worth the price. The knick-knack section of the store didn't hold my attention long and seemed smaller than at most Unique's, and my husband said most of the men's clothing was only larger sizes. They had very clean and nice dressing rooms though! read more

Not only is their clothing completely overpriced for a thrift store, but the management or owner is rude and insensitive. They don't follow costumer service regulations, and they allow screaming children to run rampage. They heavily monitor you in the changing rooms and make you feel very uncomfortable and rushed (me and my daughter both experienced this). They also falsely accused us of changing the price tags and took our pictures without our consent. The clothing is incredibly disorganized and the store and the clothes are quite dirty. I would never recommend this store to anyone that is looking for decent clothes at a reasonable price. If you're looking for something better I would suggest goodwill on university in St. Paul or savers in Apple Valley. Please save your time and your money it's not worth it. read more
