I was on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In spare moments I was scrolling through watch reviews. Day dreaming about my next watch purchase. After much research, I had made up my mind on the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 MOP 35mm. I had made up my mind that when I got back home I would find a retailer and pick this beautiful piece up. While in Mexico, I searched out a 60 mile radius of all the watch retailers from my house that might have this unique piece. After calling about 11 different businesses, no one had this beauty in stock. I thought I would be relegated to ordering online. I really wanted to see this watch on my wrist in person before making the purchase. The local malls in Puerto Vallarta only had the 40mm with the blue and black dial... no luck. I finally came across My Watch in Corona Del Mar on Yelp. While still in Mexico, four days out from returning home I called my watch. Ivan picked up. I asked about availability. Ivan said, "Yes. I have one in stock right now". I was exhilarated! I told him I would be home in 4 days. I told him as soon as I touched down, I would be there to pick it up. I called everyday to make sure he had not sold it. He assured me each time that the watch was still there. I thanked him for the reassurance. I arrived home on a Wednesday night. Dead set on clocking out from work next day and going straight to Ivan. After a long productive work day, I told my wife, " Get in the car. We have an important errand to run." We drove from Fullerton, CA to Corona Del Mar. I called Ivan and said, "Brother, it's finally happening." He said, "See you soon". I arrived to his shop and was welcomed with a firm handshake and a warm smile. I thanked him for his patience with me and my insistent calling ensuring availability of the watch. I cruised the shop and was very impressed with the wide selection and was impressed with the variety he offered. Brands like Hamilton, Seiko, Tag Heuer, Frederick Constante, Luminox and Tissot. We spent the next half hour discussing watch brands, their history and stories behind infamous watches such as the Bulova Lunar Pilot and the Hamilton pieces worn by Elvis Presley. It was refreshing to meet someone who appreciated and enjoyed watches as much as I did. Ivan showed me his favorite pieces in the shop and finally introduced me to the piece I've been looking for this entire time. Putting the PRX on my wrist, I had no words. It was more impressive in person than I could have ever imagined. I wore it for the next 30 minutes while we continued to talk about watches and the enjoyment of life. I felt like I was talking to a cousin or a brother. I paid for my watch walked out and felt great knowing I had made a good friend and added an amazing piece to my collection. Great selection of nice watches. Went there because they are a authorized Shinola watch dealer and repair location. They replaced my Shinola watch battery. In addition, they replaced a Seiko dive chronograph battery, and took the time to reteach me how to use all of the functions. I also brought in an old Seiko Mickey Mouse watch that needed a new movement. They replaced the movenent so it ran like new. I was also interested in looking at some other watches. I would've given a 1 Star, but Ivan the owner ended up refunding the overcharge after a lot of going back and forth on the phone and eventually returning to the store to get back the rest of my money. I was way overcharged for a watch battery replacement, nothing special, I might add just a regular $3.00 watch battery replacement with a charge of $70.00! And I was told prior that it would cost around $25.00. I thought about it after and started calling other Watch Repair services, all of them told me that this amount was way over what it should have been. And while in his shop, watching him replace the battery, he touched the entire inside of my watch without wearing any gloves! I was a little shocked at this. After which I questioned him on this as well. His response was and I quote "my hands were clean" laughing a bit. I couldn't believe he said this, I actually laughed and said "Are you kidding? You're a watch repair person who has stated over and over how great you were and had been doing this a long time, even I knew never to touch the inside of these delicate pieces without gloves"! Unreal. He also left me on hold for over 30 minutes prior to me going back to the shop to get the refund, coming back on the phone periodically to answer questions. I waited. I asked him about a "a gasket" or the "seal" once he opened my watch case. He told me that mine still had the seal in it. Which was incorrect but if that was the case, you're supposed to change out the seal everytime you open the case. He also told me that I had a "swiss" battery but could not tell me which one he replaced mine with! I mean, are you a watch repair person (owner) that has been in the business for "over 30 years". Learn how to run a business and stay true to your word, your word and character is everything in this town. read more

When I arrived at the store, I was given a different price, but after I showed the quote I received on Yelp, Ivan honored the price originally quoted. Ivan and his brother were very friendly and took the time to talk to us about watches. You can tell they are very passionate and were not pushy at all about upselling. He gave us an estimate of 30 minutes for the battery replacement (we had four watches) so we took a stroll in the neighborhood and he called us a little under 30 min to let us know it was all done. Faster turnaround time for replacement of watch crystal. Assistant quoted $50 over the phone but the boss corrected it to $65. The work did take half the time of the other quotes. Nearly all watch repair people refused to provide an estimate over the phone. Its just a crystal yet they lacked the ability to check the wholesale price. Well not every industry uses computers I suppose. Thankfully My Watch did use a computer and was quick about the quote and the repair. read more

I first visited My Watch several months ago when I discovered my go-to store on 17th in Costa Mesa had closed. I have a Baume et Mercier tank watch, and decided to stop in.
