This is an outstanding place for watch repair and battery installation. I brought an old Swatch here for a new battery, because I somehow cross-threaded the access point. These guys installed a new battery within minutes. Because they have a great reputation for watch repair, I also left my 30-something-year-old Tag Heuer in their care for a total rebuild. This was a wedding gift, and it is the most prized watch in my collection. The watchmaker here did an excellent job, and even did a pressure test, which is vital -- but not commonly offered with many watch repair services. They offered to replace the band with an in-house version and ultimately a Tag Heuer version, but I declined because I can replace it for a lot less money. I was also hoping they could replace the dial to no avail. Still, these folks know what they are doing, and I plan on giving them plenty of business moving forward. read more

I wanted to try out a smaller, yet local place. In the "About Us" section on their site they state they offer an "unparalleled selection with first-class service". I brought in a watch to be serviced. The date on the watch was getting hung up and I wanted the o-ring/gasket replaced (it is a 26 year old dive watch that I wore in the military). The owner was condescending, asking if I really look at the date on my watch that often, and need it to be correct. He also asked if I actually dive 90 feet and need the gasket/o-ring replaced. Needless to say, I did not end up leaving my watch with him to be serviced. I will continue going to Lewis Jewelers or other big stores to service any of my 20 watches when needed. read more

I'll admit, I was skeptical at first. I had driven past My Watch Dude's shop over 100 times on my way to our bay house and always busted out laughing at the Santa Clause outfitted people or the jacked up Jeep out front. I was bored last weekend and decided to stop in and see what was in the shop. What caught my eye was the Rolex sign out front. I was in the market for a GMT II Pepsi and wanted to see their offerings. The owner Richard Wight was very knowledge and it is easy to tell he has a passion for watches. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for but I took his business card and within a week he had the exact reference I was looking to add to my collection. I have purchased many watches from Authorized Dealers and I can say the difference between them and My Watch Dude is the absence of snobbery. Richard talks to you like a normal dude and not some pretentious punk in River Oaks. This was my first purchase from him so I wanted to see the movement which his in house watchmaker gladly showed me. They do the service at half the cost as Rolex and I think when one of my tickers stops ticking right I will have them put it back into tip top shape. The only negative feedback (and this is just a minor thing) is that I would lose the advertising of the dude with a trench coat with watches in it. It conveys the stereotypical dude on the corner in Manhattan selling fake watches, which is far from what My Watch Dude Sells. I called and got an attitude from the owner about how busy he is and was put off that I called, which I was told to do. I then got a call saying he can't clean my watch but wouldn't refund my $29.
