Located Myer's while they were still on the lakefront when my family planned on moving to town and needed a go-to bagel place. So glad I did! We're native New Yorkers and weaned on old school New York traditional savory bagels (and Kossar's bialys) ... before Cinnamon, Everything or (yikes) Rainbow bagels existed. That said, we're open to other combinations to go with our smoked fish.... which is mostly whitefish salad or lox. Myer's offers a range of savory Montreal-style bagels that we've certainly ended up preferring to that city's "too sweet for us" Fairmount or St. Viateur Bagels. Myer's still uses Montreal techniques for hand-rolled, honey-boiled and wood-fired, with a comparable size - but they do it sooo much better!!! Without a doubt, truly artisan. My favorite Myer's bagel varieties are Montreal Spice, Rosemary Sea Salt, and Kitchen Sink! Especially always bring back Montreal Spice to my NYC home or have an outstanding order with my Burlington-transplant kinfolk when they come to visit. This awesome new location on Shelburne Road is a great setting. Everyone there is also super friendly, including the manager Chris. Based off shipping order. Places an order on Monday evening for 2 dozen bagels. $40 all in delivered via UPS Ground to SEPA. Very quick turnaround to ship. Arrived today. Excitedly tossed 2 in the oven with some butter (Rosemary salt and Sesame Sunflower). All done and besides the rosemary, these are quite bland and borderline flavorless. They will be more of a vessel to add items to and will not be enjoyed simple with butter or cream cheese. Plenty of parking. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Food is fresh and delicious every time. Especially love their veggie cream cheese and sesame, everything, and cinnamon raisin bagels. Service is typically good but they don't always have someone manning the cash register (because they're helping with something in the back) and so that can slow the line down quite a bit. I love Myers prior to them moving to the new location, and I love it even more now. Bagels are still delicious ( I love the sesame bagels with scallion cream cheese), but the new location is much more convenient and clean. There is a good amount of seating inside and outside, the service was great, and there is plenty of parking spots in comparison to the old location. We were curious to taste what a Montreal style bagel tasted like so we hit M's B B for breakfast today. We ordered breakfast sandwiches with eggs, and bagels with lox, and cream cheese, the bagel and lox had a very generous portion of lox, and also came with capers, onion, and tomato, a perfect sandwich, and very reasonably priced I just ordered a toasted everything bagel, with butter because I just wanted to taste the essence of a Montreal bagel. My take on Montreal style bagels is that they are very small, and are chewier than New York style bagels. I prefer NY style better. We picked up a bag of rugelach that were additively delicious. As an aside, there is a really eclectic, and very cool book store located in the same building next to the bagel shop, you should check it out. It not only has a incredible collection of books, but also a lot of unique curios, and paintings for sale. read more

But when you reach the front of the line for your order (15 minutes max even on a Sunday morning), you realize the the potential combinations of bagel flavor with topping is expansive. You'll be tempted to hit the Montreal style basics--sesame, everything. But I ask you to consider Rosemary sea salt because it's unusual and so good. Pair that with garlic herb cream cheese and you're in shmeer heaven. Other combos: Rachel's whitefish; or improvise, as daughter did: egg, garlic and herb cream cheese, pickled jalapeños, spinach, roasted fingerling potatoes, on everything bagel. When I read the reviews I thought it was hilarious how a lot of people were "willing to die" or "sent up to heaven" for these bagels. Traveling here from the south the other night, of course I had to try them. I got the Ivan on a Montreal spice bagel and I can confirm it is death defying, life changing, and soul resurrecting. Just the avocado with the egg and the melted Brie with the sriracha omg. SO GOOD. Well what's in Montreal spice seasoning might you ask? It's literally Montreal steak seasoning mixed with Italian herbs. Ive never had anything like it and it tops the charts higher than the beloved everything bagel. It's more savory and flavorful. The service was fantastic and the staff were very hard at work making those bagels from scratch! I hope they take good care of their hands because I see how they have to dip their hands in the hot water to get the bagels out and I'm worried about burns. This is BY FAR thee best lox bagel I have ever had in my life. I know this may sound dramatic lol, but it's true! Let me start by saying that each staff member was super friendly and efficient. When we got there, the line looked long and intimidating, but trust me, it moved very quickly. Most of that is due to having staff members taking orders while you're standing in the line waiting to get to the register. By the time you get to the register, your food is almost done! Once we got the food, we sat outside to dig in immediately. We both ordered the lox bagels with the Montreal Spice bagel. That spice took the bagel to the next level. Every bite, was just so good, I didn't want it to end. As a visitor, I wish I could have packed a dozen of the bagels and flew them home with me. The bagels here are made fresh in-house and you can actually see them being made. We got our sandwiches quickly which was great because we were very excited to try them. We stopped here for dinner on our way from Rhode Island to Montreal. We were originally going to go into Burlington but saw this place right off the highway and changed our minds. Glad we did! Got a Caesar salad which was fresh and tasty with bagel chip croutons and a cheese pizza. Our order got goofed and the pizza took awhile longer than it should. The owner was really attentive to this and when it finally came out he offered us a free pizza to take with us along with the one we already had. As we are traveling we did not want to take a pizza but I asked to try a bagel instead. The owner generously gave us half a dozen bagels and a rub of cream cheese to take and restaurant recs for Montreal. Despite the place being really busy he took the time to chat and was really kind. Picture this... I'm in Burlington on business, had an early 5am gym session, don't have to be to UVM Medical Center until 0830, it's -12 degrees outside, and my hotel's 'continental' breakfast is lukewarm coffee and granola bars (I've done my share of international travel, but I still can't tell you which continent that's from).... you're with me? I decided I'm hitting Yelp to find a place for some hot breakfast! I ultimately decide on this place. I'm not sure why, there were a couple bagel places rated highly, but this one drew me in, and I am so glad it did. It's a bit out of the way, but not too far from city center. I pulled in to an unassuming parking lot in front of some unassuming industrial buildings (it reminded me of the waterfront fish warehouses in Portland for some reason), and head inside. The SMELLS! It was like heaven for my nose. The coffee and the bagels cooking (which you can see happening by the way) turned me into a cartoon, I started floating through the air to the ordering counter. I ordered my coffee and a turkey sausage, onions, peppers, egg and cheddar on a poppy seed bagel. Then I waited. It only took a couple minutes, in which I got to witness many bagels heading into the oven. Mine came out, and COVID still being a thing, I head outside to my nicely warm car to eat. The coffee was tasty, nice and bold. The sandwich was sooooooo good, when I tell you I was sad it was ending, I mean there may have been a literal tear in my eye as I popped the last bite into my mouth. If I didn't have work to get to, and didn't think they'd have judged me, I would have gone right back in and ordered two more. The sausage was deliciously salty, the veggies still had some crispness to them, the cheese was nice and melty, and the egg was nicely over easy (which I LOVE), everything was perfect. (Though if you don't like runny eggs, make sure to ask for it to be cooked through!!!) So why only four stars you may be asking? And a worthy question it would be! Well, as I stated before, the runny egg. I enjoy that quite a lot, but it doesn't say anywhere it will be runny, nor do they mention it. Not an issue for me, but I can just imagine my wife's horror as she bit into it (now I know to order hers well done if she is ever with me). Not a big deal this trip, but I think it should be something that's mentioned. And the main reason, the service was lackluster. A young girl seemed annoyed that she was taking my order, there was little assistance with where the cream/sugar was, and she seemed annoyed that I wanted to switch the sausage out for veggie sausage (even though it's an option!). I get it, we all have bad days, and this was an icy day to be sure. Her service was as cold as the wind outside! But that still won't stop me from coming back! In Portland, Maine we are spoiled by an amazing array of delicious bagel locations. Rose's, Forage, Scratch, and Maple's to name a few, but this place stood above them in my mind. The ability to customize my sandwich, the onions and peppers, and the availability of turkey sausage, wins out. Whenever I am in Burlington, this is now my go to breakfast spot! read more

Top 5 food I've ever eaten in my life. For $7.50, I got the Ivan breakfast sandwich and I literally would die for it. The bagel itself so perfect--doughy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It was also on the lighter side unlike a lot of bagels. The eggs and cheese were also cooked so well. If I were a local, I would be here every week just for this sandwich. The home made veggie cream cheese is rich in flavor and very spreadable. The owner was working right along with the staff, which gives this place a family oriented vibe. The location is very pleasant and very clean. On Friday afternoon- evening they feature pizza so we had to go back to try. We're glad we did. Myer's Bagel Bakery is a popular spot for bagels and after having a bagel from here, I can understand why. Myer's Bagel Bakery offers a nice selection of bagels and the usual bagel shop offerings in a pleasant enough setting (you can see the Panera inspiration in their interior design). The staff is friendly enough and the bagel, as I have mentioned before, are pretty good. I am originally from New Jersey and have had a lifelong affection for bagels. The New York City/New Jersey/Long Island area have (at least in my opinion) some of the best bagels in the country and I was fortunate enough to have grown up knowing what a great bagel should be. While these bagels will not make the legendary bagel makers in New York City, New Jersey or Long Island shake in their flour dusted boots and glance fearfully over their shoulder, Myer's Bagel Bakery makes a respectable bagel. They probably could put a bit more cream cheese on their bagel, but again, being from New Jersey, I can say that we have always been excessive with the cream cheese, so much so that the rest of the country probably looks horrified at what we consider a normal amount of cream cheese on a bagel. I had their everything bagel with cream cheese and it was pretty good. These are Montreal-style bagels, a bit more dense than the New York-style bagel, though honestly, it is not a huge difference to me. A good bagel is a good bagel and Myer's Bagel Bakery definitely makes a good bagel. I would definitely recommend here and I give it four stars (). read more

I feel like Myers is an example of a place that suffers from its success. Not to say the quality has suffered as the bagels feel as good in the new location as they were on Pine St, the large number of people coming in has made ordering a bit more of a hassle. Avoid ordering online if possible as I think they have a lot going on that leads to them being extra slow even if you're just asking for a sliced bagel with shmear. read more
