Have you ever wondered why there was such a high turnover rate for servers here? It's because of the management. The management treats staff with an unbelievable level of disrespect. Servers are made to feel incompetent over the smallest mistakes, like one error suddenly ruins everything, yet the kitchen is apparently allowed to make mistakes without the same treatment or accountability. The double standard was impossible not to notice. What really shocked me was seeing staff get yelled at in front of customers. At one point I saw a server visibly holding back tears after being spoken to so harshly. It created such an uncomfortable atmosphere while trying to eat breakfast. The kitchen staff was also loudly cursing throughout the restaurant. It made the environment feel chaotic and hostile, especially considering there were kids around. Honestly, I didn't want to hear that either while trying to enjoy a meal. Manager Kim also came across as snarky and arrogant toward staff, which completely put me off. The attitude from management overall seemed toxic and dismissive. The food itself was fine -- nothing special, but reasonably priced. Unfortunately, decent prices don't make up for the environment. I also witnessed staff openly talking badly about people behind their backs, which only added to the negativity. Overall, it was a horrible experience, and I can't justify supporting a business that appears to treat its employees so poorly. No restaurant is worth that kind of environment. read more

There was a waiting line for this small place, but at 10 am, it moved right along. Very friendly staff and fast refills on the coffee. We had a nice time at Henry's Diner. Love me a good diner vibe and this place fits the bill to a T. Has the counter and booths and some tables around the side as well. It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning but we beat the rush it seemed at around 8:45 am. I had the little Henry, over medium eggs, bacon, a biscuit, pancake, and added a side of the sausage gravy. The bacon was small and just okay. Should've went with ham. I was pleased that my eggs came out as ordered and the sausage gravy was homemade and was great! How all diners should be judged and they passed with flying colors. My pancake was also good. That Vermont syrup ain't no joke either. My wife got a special, basically an omelette with biscuits and gravy inside. She enjoyed it and also got a pancake on the side. Her pancake was undercooked for her but said the flavor was still good. Stopped here on our drive home from Montreal and it was perfect. We immediately got seated and was warmly greeted by our waiter. I checked the Yelp reviews and my sister and I both decided to order the little Henry. Perfection. I got my eggs over medium, ham, home fries, a pancake, and an English muffin. The waitress we had was not nice at all and had a nasty attitude. We would ask her a question and she would give us a dirty look as to why we are asking her the questions we did. Inside is very cute looking, they have nice booths and it's very yellow looking. The food could have been a little bit better. The home fires barley had any flavor to it , the sausage patties were okay I wished I would had received the links but I think they only came as pork. The French toast and the biscuit was on point. I don't get the hype. ‍ Coffee The menu notes it was Vermont coffee, being a coffee connoisseur I indulged. I immediately regretted that decision. The coffee was so bitter it wasn't drinkable, clearly Vermont coffee makers pick the cherries too soon or maybe that's the standard? The coffee was also overly strong, like jet fuel. Again, maybe that's the standard. Clearly it was not my jam, I tasted it and couldn't even drink it. Irish Benedict I Cynivised and switched the English Muffin to their homemade biscuits. Good hollandaise sauce with a lemon presence that was balanced. Perfectly poached eggs. I liked that the hash was real and not the canned stuff. The potatoes in the hash were a bit underdone. The biscuit was a little stale in the middle. The side of potatoes that it comes with were a great golden brown, and still under cooked, with several hard pieces of potato. Chocolate Chip Pancake Golden brown pancake. I Cynivised by adding chocolate chips. The chips were perfectly melted. I loved that in Vermont you get maple syrup! I'd expect nothing less. The pancake itself was very chewy, indicating that the batter was over mixed. The food at this diner was edible, at best. Nevertheless you go for historical reasons, one of the first diners in the State with only 4 owners in over 100 years and still operating today is very impressive. read more

Jen is one of my favorite waitresses of all time -- she is hilarious, is always kind, and will keep it real with you if you have a question. When someone says old fashioned diner Henry's is what I picture in my mind. Sadly they aren't open Monday through Thursday so I didn't get a chance to get here until Friday when I was in town. When I walked in the first thing that I noticed was how low the ceiling was. I am 6'2" and I had the hunch over to get to the bar seats. Once I was seated I got informed by the waitress that they don't allow outside beverages so I had to dump my Coffee out that I got on my walk over. Would have been nice to have a sign posted but won't hold that against them. The waitress was friendly and knew all of the regulars by name. Felt like was in a tv show. I just wanted a short stack of two pancakes with a side on bacon. It was ready super fast. Pancakes were nice and fluffy and the bacon was crispy. Price was grassy. I had the little Henry - two eggs any style, choice of ham sausage bacon (Vermont ham delish) potatoes and choice of french toast or pancake (my choice). So yummy!!
