Cute lil sandwich shop. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They highly recommended the sourdough bread as it was their best seller. Loaves of bread for you to decide how you want your sandwich constructed. They have great names for their sammies (yes I said sammie) n wraps. I went with the humdinger (hum for hummus). Added bacon and swapped out the cheddar for provolone. My MIL got the turkey on sourdough with cranberry mayo. My fiancé created his own which consisted of grilled roast beef, grilled corned beef, provolone, tomato and the cranberry mayo on sourdough. Everyone loved their choices and like others have mentioned the size of the sammies are huge! I had saved the second half for another time. Next time you are in need of a good tasty sammie on the go this should be your place. I say on the go as this place does not have a good amount of seating but don't let this distract you as you just need to take this with you and make a picnic opportunity out of this. There are better choices on Church St. This odd little place is kind of in a building lobby and the seating is in a hallway. The people were nice but awkward. I got the Total Meltdown. The sandwich was ok but it was more of a toasted sandwich than a melt. Call me crazy but I believe the cheese has to actually be melted in order to call a sandwich a melt. The Classic sandwich as a sub was to dieeeee for. The employees were super sweet while helping us out. We're from out of town and today was the first day of our stay but we will definitely be back before we leave! The cookie was very surprising as it has notes of bananas in it but it was very nice nonetheless. Very great of on a budget students as we got a sub, a cookie, and a coke for 16$ that lasted us lunch and we saved half for dinner! Over all a great first stop! read more

I stopped here because the outside billboard had a wrap that sounded great. I noticed the outside seating and thought that it might be nice to sit a moment. Ordering is easy and pleasant. I added a bag of chips and it was basically $10. The wrap came quickly. I was thoroughly disappointed. I reread the billboard and it seemed the wrap was what I ordered but there was no flavor. None. The chicken was bland. The avocado barely there. No seasoning to speak of. Honestly. I get wraps rarely. This was a huge disappointment. I'll never come here again as I pass through town. Plenty of other options nearby. 3 stars as it seems locally owned, it's very cute and clean, had other options that presumably are better. I ordered a simple swiss cheese sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo on wheat bread. When I got home with my order, I realized that the sandwich was hot, which is not what I had asked for. I called them to ask why they had cooked my sandwich and they said they thought I wanted it like a grilled cheese. Then I asked if it was common for people to order lettuce in a grilled cheese, and they said it was. They offered their apologies but it seems like it would have been more appropriate to ask if I would like a new sandwich since they gave me something I didn't order. I told them that next time I will try to be more careful when I'm ordering, which they seemed to agree would be a good idea, but the truth is I'll probably just go to one of the many other sandwich shops in town. read more

A cute little shop with amazing menu choices! I was planning on ordering a sandwich but I saw the croissants and had to try one. It was freshly heated up, and baked amazingly with flakes falling into my mouth with every bite. I also got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was delicious, cut in big strips along the top. The dressing was rich and creamy, and the croutons were perfectly crunchy, but not too crunchy. What got my attention was the menu posted on the wall outside, prompting me to come closer and thus go inside. Glad I did, the sandwiches ladies were very nice and there is quite a selection of beverages considering its not a big 'shoppe'. The sanwich was very good, I was able to taste every thing - the oat bread, tomatos, ham, mustard etc. And it was very filling. Love this hidden gem. I love grabbing a sandwich to go, while walking downtown. I've had a few great under $10 meals from TOTB. They have a great Thai wrap and an amazing turkey BLT sandwich with maple mayo. Their bread is homemade and thick cut, justifying the $6-8 per sandwich. They have a good variety of bottled drinks, chips, muffins, and giant cookies. Always check what the daily special is! read more

I stopped by after a recommendation from my friend. I ordered a veggie sandwich, which was very decent. The oat bread was perfectly fresh and so were the veggies. The only downfall was the hummus which didn't taste great. The service was great and extremely welcoming. There's not much of an atmosphere but the outdoor seating on church is a plus. Love the bread and the basic sandwich was not bad but the micro bacon has to go. $9+ for a turkey club on rye and you get 3 micro slices of bacon and some very basic turkey. Just being cheap and cutting corners like many other places. They claim to be high end and one of the best in Burlington, not the case these days. Fairly limited choices and just ok meats. Top of the Block is your typical neighborhood sandwich shoppe, except for the fact that it resides on Church St., which usually means that the prices are inflated for mediocre product. However, I was surprised that all of the sandwiches were around $6, including specialty sandwiches for only a quarter more. This makes it more likely that I will buy sandwiches here over franchises like Subway or Quiznos. I got half a Reuben sandwich for a fair $3.50. The sandwich was a bit small, but the taste was decent. I wish it came with more meat, but I guess this isn't a New York deli. I couldn't really tell if the rye bread was fresh as advertised, but at least it was toasted. It also looked like they had cheap homemade soups, which may prove to be comforting during the cold winters here. read more

This company has horrible customer service. You would think that being a small town local business they would value this entity, but they do not. Instead the old crabby woman who worked there not only provided me with poor service, but went as far as to make me feel stupid in a situation that should have easily been taken care of in a classy and accomidating fashion.
